Great little machine...great video! This is the model typewriter that Ernest Hemingway used as his favorite. I have one too & love it. A great connection to the printed page for writers!
@sinyu76 As Bobman said, it's fun. Also typewriters work without electricity so they are still used in some countries where it's hard to get electricity.
@sinyu76 for when you're too damn broke to afford printer ink. Also, as a writer, there's a nostalgic poetic element when one of these is used vs a digital word processor.
cool as hell...but how do you re-ink a vintage typewriter? i have one in my closet and i'm not sure what ink ribbons to buy or if i can even get ink ribbons anymore
I have a Standard Portable. I LOVE it but a friend of mine broke it. >:O It is in perfect condition but the ribbon holder doesn't move up. I stuffed a tissue in it to force it up. The keys work l"Like A Dream."
@Bobman4671 I wish my mom would LET me still use my typewriters for school. I have 11 typewriters. Too many to remember the names of all of them, but one is a mint condition, (99.9% mint) Remington Portable Typewriter, 1922, and it's a slightly cream color. It has the box/case, the manual, etc. Only thing that's wrong, is the @ key doesn't work, but I never use it anyways. The rest of they keys, I use. :)
You got ripped off I just got one for 3 bucks at a thrift store in reasonable condition

@sinyu76 Why take a country road when you can take the Interstate?
Why ride a bike when you can drive a car?
Why shop at the corner store when you can shop at Wal-Mart?
Why cook from scratch when you can eat fast food?
Why draw a picture when you can shoot a video?

@sinyu76 You could apply that statement to heroine. It's addictive.

Mine too. I do most of my school work and writing on it. It's either that, or the Olympia.
