@ArtOfRuin75 buying one is fine but when you have the room for two with lots of plants and place's for them to hide from each other when they need to is better, my male and female don't ever ever fight and are happy together. also keep them well feed or they could see each other as food and have missing parts that will grow back.
I ordered 2 axolots one albino and one golden and they came in the mail today and i got one albino and two wild type instead of the golden. So now i have three juvenile axolots in the same tank. They seem aggressive towards each other especially the wild types. Will they be fine housed together?
@lordcycle yes and no.......lol i say this because they can be aggresive towards each other if they don't know each other and will need lots of place's for them to block each others view from one another. put alot of plants in the tank and caves and large soft river rocks and if you have a long tank for them like a 29 gallon or bigger than they may be ok with each other. I think it would be better if you can place them in glass vase's in the tank with them facing each other .
@lordcycle big tanks with lots of room for them to hide until they get use to each other my be ok but mine grew up togethr and are not aggressive. most of the time people keep only pair together or a few females together. males fight alot to win a female . do you have a video of your Axolotls in the tanks and what size is it?
@charliesweb1k I have them right now in a 15 gallon high tank and i have an extra 20 gallon high tank laying around.Since the guy screwed up my order he's sending me 2 extra albino axolotls for free so i'm thinking about putting the three albinos in the 20 gallon and keeping the 2 wild types in the 15 gallon. The first day i got them they were avoiding each other and snapping at each other but i went and bought 4 clay pots and made them into little caves and it seems like it has helped.
@lordcycle my male and female just had eggs today again and the male is a wild type and the female is pure white with black eyes and red gills. They have duplicates of the selves when the babies are born. so if you want all albinos then that would be ok. i prefer to cross the color incase i have birth defects so i don't pair my albinos but i do pair the wild types since they are the originals. ALSO WHERE DID YOU ORDER YOURS? thanks
@lordcycle i would say yes since i have two in a 10 gallon and they are very very happy.
It's best to buy 15 gallon long or 20 gallon long or 29 gallon long since the tank is longer. but your 20 will be fine for three of them. mmake some videos on them alot of people will watch.
@charliesweb1k I ended up buying a 29 gallon tank but now i'm contemplating about putting my 5 axolotls in there? some people tell me yes and others say no.I'll send you a PM with the email of the guy i bought my axolotls from.
@Msbleedinglove7 well if you feed him well and when you see his tummy full sometimes he will not want to eat for a few days. But they sometimes will eat eat eat all day long and after he poops he will eat again so don't over feed. I feed him enough that his tummy is bulging and then feed him not the next day but the day after. this keeps him from over eating and it keeps him healthy. hope that was a little helpful?
Hi :) I'm thinking of getting an axolotl, but I live in Australia, so it gets really hot. The hottest it gets inside the house is around 35C during the peak of summer, but the water doesn't get that hot. How do you recommended keeping the tank cool, or do you think it would be fine?
@Shannen93Aus .........you can tell if the Axolots does not like the water temp by looking at its gills. they will lay them down alot and they may become cottton white which is bad but if they lay down to much it means they are not happy. also look at the body and make sure you don't see white patches as that also means they are not doing well. them temp i have mine in is at 70degrees and they like it and will even try to breed in that temp. I have was able to breed them and got 300 babies.
@Shannen93Aus .......so i would say im sure they are ok in that temp you have them in, thanks for the comments and for the other person commenting also....
@Shannen93Aus .......also i have some babies to show you soon and i think i got two white ones and 5 wild type. most of them are being sold to a local pet shop soon and i will keep a few for another generation
@charliesweb1k Thanks so much for your help :) The pet store I got my little Fonzie from has given me beef heart to feed him, and he doesn't seem to want to eat it :/ He just sits there when I try and feed it to him, and actually backed away from it. I'm trying to get ahold of some earth worms for him.
@Shannen93Aus .........that sounds good about the worms. for sure he will like that since they like the food to be moving. What i have done is i bought red wiggler worms that look like earth worms but they breed like rats and in three months i had 1500 worms. take a look at how i set up the worms and later ill do an update on how i now have 3000 worms. I always have worms for my axolotls . I have sold 500 worms for $15.00 which includes the shipping and handling but ebay also has them for sale.
@Shannen93Aus ....I also tryed many times to give them the beef hearts but they are not always happey with that and will tell you NO! i don't want that and they will back away. also try dropping Newt pellets over the head and they should jump at it and will eat the pellets. and turn the filter off so they can smell the newt pellets. hope that helps?
@yognaut619 ....you can put all kinds really. the favorit thing Axolotls like is place's to hide from bright lights. so logs, java fern, slate would be nice but make sure everything you put into your tank is not sharp. never ever put gravel they will swallow it and die for sure. Sand or large over sized rocks that are smoothe is good. small small fish can make ok temp pets so don't get attached. get 2 or three to raise together so they don't need to be introduced later or they may fight.
@TheWolf2468 1 10 gallon tank can hold 2 and they are social so you wanna keep at least 2. Make sure you have an aquarium chiller of some sort. temps above 72 deegrees f can kill them. a filter + air pump are also quite nessesacry. a tank can be quite an investment for these guys so look into that before you buy any.
@dalekcollectibles ....they eat everything in site even your finger. my friend has a larger gold fish and they are nice to each other. guppies become food for them all other fish that could fit in the mouth are going to be eattin. so i would think about just doing them alone. even the fish that don't get eattin can pick on there gills as the think its worms.. hope that helps you.
@blackghostknife11 ...so i see you dont pay attention that the water was cleaned and the moss made it look green and the bloom in the tank is from the new water....thats ok
@KRAEN666...its always best to do 10 gallons for ever axolotls but i have a beeding pair in a 10 gallon all year around and they are good.. Do i would say yes its ok. but watch them to make sure they get along and don't pick on each thers limbs..hope that helps alittle?
@ciukcia98 ... i would say yes because when the water has oxygen then the quality of the water is at it's best for the animals living in water. so i say yes. if you don't have a pump then your changing the water to often and good bacteria takes up to 6 weeks and each water change for Axolotls will be to "clean" since the water they live in is clean but natural . fish don't like brand new water so Axolotls are the same. also make sure the flow is not to fast as they ht that and will show you.
@199252208 ...lol they could but mine never have. so what i have heard and seen at a pet shop in seattle is that if you have many of them and they get hungury or if one is to small they d tr to bite at the legs or arms of the other. but mine never showed this act ever. so buy them around the same size since male and females are the same siz until they are adults. then the males are longer and bigger with balls by the butt area . but not like ones like a dog...lol hope this helps.
@challie10 ...it is clean didn't you hear what i was saying in the video? also the tan at the time was 10 gallons tall and they were only inches long and the java moss made my tnk look green in this video but my tank is always crystal clear... thanks
@MrWiNkYtv .. The pet store is in west seattle and the name is Aquariest World telephone # is 206 767 1878 ...let them know Charlie ref'd you to them...thanks
@TheZaky9 ...No! mine don't but sometimes if they see alittle plant that looks good and can't find meat they can try it and sometimes spit it up. they love meat. (Newt pellets )has veg's and other plant matter to make it a variaty of foods for them. i feed them wax worms, meal worms, small krickets, earth worms small, guppies, really small gold fish, and newt pellets...
@whiteknight1470 ...hello. hello... these worms come from live food like feeder fish that dies or not eatten fast enough. some times if s feeder fish dies the body lets these worms out and they take over the take and fly around and looks like you breed worms. so i use a product at the pet store that is called (Quick Cure) but without the Axolotls in the tank since you can treat fish called baby whales,Elephant nose, shrimp, snails, live rock,or invertibrates. It treats Protozoan Parasites and Ick. read my second message.....
Hello i have a pretty huuuge problems. I have worms in my aquarium and i've had it for like 1-2 months. The owner of the pet store said that these aren't dangerous for my axolotls but of course i want them away! I've started to clean my aquarium every second day after i've fed them to try to starve the worms out. the ones on the aquarium "window" is 4mm the ones under the sand is about 7mm and swims fast just like worms but very thin and white. what are these? how can i get them away?
@KoliikBarn ....In seattle wa the bottle cost $7.99 and treats other problems.. use foods that are dead like frozen blood worms Newt and salamander BITES,shrimp pellets. make sure after you treat your tank for three days that you make a 100% water change because the things you have in the tank could have had them hiding and reinfect your tank. but with this treatment i don't have that problem. hope this helps and let me know what happen.. remember don't treat with them in the tank...
@charliesweb1k I live in sweden so we dont have that cure around here.. I've changed the water 100% 2-3 times and switched sand and everything but they keep coming back. I dont have any fishes in my aquarium but recently i bought two "ancistrus" fishes that clean the aquarium glass and stones . No one have died. I feed my axolotls in the tank with frozen mosquito larvae in the morning, at the evening/night i clean the aquarium, switch 50% of the water and sucks up the remains of the food.
@KoliikBarn.... wow sounds like your doing everythng right. in your browser put in the word axolotls.org and under the search engine write in FAQ to get you answer after you ask the question. sometime when i feed with frozen food & did not see the food hidden i also get parasites swimming in my tank. sometimes its even the food that is not seen and or caught on time before this happens. i hope this page in google helps. I put in the sentence how to care for axolotls & they have a lot of info.
dont use lights or heatersthey need cold water also dont house them together till they're 1 year old or they will become canibalistic also dotn leave food in there or bacteria will grow
@MrGushyman ...mostly a private pet shop has them..long time ago they sold in petsmart but no more. so the next time you see a pet shop that someone owns stop and a see if they have them...hope that info helps....oh and look on craigslist. I started on that site and got my first one on craigslist...
it sounds like you have a 29 gallon tank which is about those measures. So you can keep 3 in that tank with no problems. about the gold fish the answer is Yes and No!. i say this because some fish are ok with them and others love eating the gils on he heads of your axolotls. i have gold fish in with them and out f 5 small fan tails 2 picked on the Axolotls and three never did.. so what them and see what your fish does. normally it is said don't keep them with fish. google axolotls..thanks
HELLO this was a great video you made thank you i have one question i just got my ones 3 weeks ago the guy at the pet store said they are still young but did not say how old i have tried looking to see if they are male and female, some sites say longer tail and their head size and to look for the swelling near their bottoms are male but i can not tell. could u plz check my video and reply i would luv if they are female and male thank you for your time
what are these guys like living on their own? should i get two, or will they fight loads?

I ment to say watch them and see what your fish will do.

it sounds like you have a 29 gallon tank which is about those measures.
