@cube60659 I think that you will still need an internet connection to load the maps (since its Google map) but GPS guides are from satellite, of course there is no point using GPS if you cant load the map.
I was wondering if you could help me! Want one tablet and I am between the Transformer and the Xoom. I do need it for taking note in school(notebook) to read power point presentations, to naviate the internet and to have all my books in pdf. I have a macbook pro for editing, gaming, and some work.
@elgransr With the XOOM you get a device that will get all Android updates first. However with the Transformer you get the best tablet form factor available on the market today. I'd probably say go with the Transformer. The keyboard option is killer and really makes the tablet more functional.
@55thjam Its the same as any Google Maps 5 as far as I know. When you create the route, you need internet connecton, but once created it will cache the entire route including reroutes.
you can use 2 fingers to tilt the veiw, and for some reason the live wallpapers make the ui lag but when i use the live wallpapers on gingerbread everything is smooth
you didnt say anything about street views

You only need 2 fingers to tilt.
if 3 works you can do that too, but it only takes 2.

I also notice the reviewer didn't demonstrate rotating the map around with his fingers using gestures

Its not laggy and until you play with one don't base everything off of videos

Not bad. Buy why haven't Google fix any of the laggy interface with Android?
