  • @markozer0 I ride my 690 primarily off pavement and have had zero issues with the Britannia Composites Lynx fairing. I've had it on the bike for ~6000 miles now.

The seat cover and foam are from Seat Concepts. I purchased from their website. I highly recommend them. Putting a truly comfortable seat on the 690 made day long or even multi day rides no problem at all. And they are one of the cheapest (and best?) alternatives out there.

  • @650tom thanks! I have some questions more because I'm thinking to order the Britannia fairing kit: have you Hella lights on the Britannia or HID? (I don't know how much light it does)

how's the Britannia windshield when you drive fast? I need to know how is the protection during the long on road travel for example (any vibrations?!...)

    many thanks again!

  • @markozer0 I got the HID low beam and the Hella high beam. Both work very good.

At higher road speeds it is possible to duck below the wind stream coming over the screen and be out of the wind. In an upright sitting position you will get wind hitting your helmet. As I think about it, some of the wind spills over the vertical edges (the sides) and also causes turbulence. I haven't ridden the 690 without the beak on my Arai and I know that it made a difference on the Adventure.

  • @650tom Thanks very much again Tom! do you think the Hellas (low and high) are good? I can save money in this case :-)

Actually I have mounted on my 690 R the 690 enduro standard light (just to have more light) ,I'd liek to know the weight of Hellas...are the Hellas heavy or close to the enduro standard weight light?

  • @markozer0 I think either combination of lights will be tremendously better than the stock light. As far as the weight goes, not sure just what you're asking. The Lynx fairing, complete, weighs around 4 to 5 lbs(a guess). Really doesn't feel heavy. I think the bulk of the weight comes from the fairing material. The far superior lighting as a worth while trade for a couple of extra lbs.

  • @650tom ok, I guess with the HID the weight goes up (with switch and wire extra )

However thanks a lot Tom for your answers and if you want to send ma some picture more showing how you have positioned the GPS mounting system I will much appreciate.

I don't understand how can be fixed the mounting system on the ABS Britannia black cover to attach the GPS

  • thank you very much my friend!

  • Sweet bike man. Question for ya; where did you find those 17 inch wheels at? I got a enduro R as well and I was looking into having two separate wheel/tire combinations. the 21/18 combo isn't cutting it for me on the street. Thanks in advance!

  • @Demodectic Since mine just got ripped off out of my shop week before last I'm looking again too. I found them on line at ktmcyclehutt and now cheaper at ktmworld. There was a set on eBay that the auction ended Monday. The reserve wasn't meant so they should be relisted? I should have my insurance settlement check in the next few days and plan to bid on the wheels if they come up again. There are several other components you'll need for the wheels to fit an "R".

  • hi! can i say the name of your new seat? it is confort? :) where did you buy it?

  • @AndreaDePaola The seat cover and foam are from seat concepts. I bought it on line from their website. The seat is very comfortable. It's possible to actually sit on it for hours at a time with no discomfort. I highly recommend it! Also not as costly as a lot of the other seat up grades available,

  • Looks Good. Can you remove the rear 17 wheel without removing the rear caliper? I bought my 690 with street wheels and wanted to swap to dirt but could not figure out to remove the rear 17... Can you show a pic how you mounted the rear turn signals? I am trying to do the same thing. Thanks!

  • @joebarinca I found that if I remove the 2 bolts on the chain guide and slide it forward I can get the rear wheel on fairly easy. The last time I swapped from stock to the supermoto wheels it took me 25 minutes from the time I walked into my shop until I started the bike and was ready to ride. Unfortunately some asshole(s) broke into my shop this past Monday night and stole my wheels, a bunch of tools and other odds and ends. I'll post a video this weekend on the turn signals.

  • @650tom Thanks for your help. Looking forward to seeing the new video showing how you installed the turn signals. Sorry to hear about the stolen wheels and tools. I hope the thiefs get caught.

  • Hi, yup...nice upgrades.

I have a 2008 690E and have 17" wheels for it as well. I put the front on and the bike didn't turn very well at all. The SMC axles are inline with the shocks whereas the Enduro's are offset changing the pivot point.

How much different did it feel from the 21/18 combo?

    thanks...

  • @vivianmorresey I didn't change or adjust the suspension at all when I put the 17"'s on but I do have it set pretty stiff on both ends. The bike almost seems to turn by just thinking about it. Almost too quickly, especially compared to the 21". I honestly think it handles extremely well at speed on pavement (but I am old and slow). As far as comparing the 2 wheel sets, the 17"'s make a near perfect big dirt bike (when shod with the 21"/18") feel like a very worthy canyon carver.

  • @650tom thanks for the quick response. I know the R's are 1" taller than the E's...so maybe thats a factor. Also the tires on the 17" are shot, so maybe thats having an impact on the handling. What pirellis do you have on?

  • @vivianmorresey If I remember right I have a set of Diablo Rosso Corsa's that are showing their wear but seem to hang on pretty good still. Having that extra 1"+ set stiff could certainly make a difference in the way the bike turns. My forks are as low in the triple clamp as they can go. Are you running a steering stabilizer? I am not and run my steering heads pretty loose.

  • @650tom The tire's are not Corsa's. Just Diablo Rosso's.

  • Tom your 690 is looking good. I did not know where running 17" wheels, I thought nobbies

  • @crazyratbastard49

    Hey Uncle Don,

I found a killer deal on a set of 17" wheels with Pirelli's and had to buy them. I've ridden less than 100 miles with 'em on. I'm not working tomorrow so planning on a ride down Meadowlake Rd to Pacific City and back to get a real feel. I plan to take my GoPro and getting some video.
