Touhou is a vertical-scrolling shooter. Each game consists of 6 stages, with an occassional miniboss every stage or two, depending on which game you play. The current popular Touhou games are Touhou 6 - 7. Just watch gameplay videos and you'll see what it's like.

There is no such thing as a dumb question, only dumb people who don't ask questions. Touhou is a series of bullet hell shooter developed by ZUN. In addition to programming the games, he composes the music, designs the characters and backgrounds, and writes the story. I would definitely recommend downloading them and just seeing for yourself the pure orgasmic majesty that is touhou.
