To the Fijian guy that said, the Fijian stands alone. I do agree with you buddy, because Fijian don't look nothing like us. The Fijian are shared a commom blood with the Aborigines people, black with afro hair.
As far Polynesian people, so, yea we are proud of who we are. We also dominate the whole south pasifika.
@tevoro why are leaving my friend? it is my opinion that english history is boring. Does that really bother you? You can have as much as you want of it if you like. But i wanted to learn somthing different. Thank you for your assistance and providing me a stepping stone to learn about something that i find interesting and not boring. It is sad that it ends here. I am hopeful that we will chat again some day. ADIOS AMIGO, FA USO, CATCH YAH LATER MATE
@tevoro The other question that i was asking, was for other reference points other than Taveuni that i could also look into or reasearch. No real reason for doing so. English history is wee bit on the boring side for me
@tevoro i dont know which part of my statements that you are reading there bruv, but i didnt imply whatsoever that i was tongan. I joined the discussion to put a point across that simply been told to me. Unfortunately for myself and others that have heard the same jargon, and though it pains me to say this I WAS WRONG. Youve given me the reference point of TAVEUNI and i thank you for that.
@tevoro i asked you to point me in the correct direction and that you did. Schooling me on everything...HUH? educating me on Fijian history yes, schooled, how? im a pale skinned englishman who wouldnt know where to begin to search. Id ask the chaps on the footy team but it seams as though theyve given me incorrect info. Hence, the reason for asking for assistance?
Would you have any other reference points for me to look at?
I play Rugby here in England with Tongans and also a few Fijians who are of the same cosensus, that England saved Fiji from being taken over. Id like to read what youve been reading. Im truly interested, and would appreciate it if you point myself in the correct direction to true facts of that battle and possibly others that you can suggest.
@tevoro youve really got your undies in a twist about this havent you my brother!!! or should i say hulh skirt. only bitches wear skirts and thats what youre acting or behvaing like. would you prefer to liken yourself to us good english men. The people that you asked for aid and assistance when the tongans almost conquered ate you guys alive.
I am also aware that the Lau group have strong ties to the Tongan monarchy. I have been informed that the also perform dances similar to Tongan traditional dances and also wear the Tongan traditional clothing (the ta'ovala). Would you then consider Fijians of 'Polynesian' blood? Dont Tongans consider themselves 'polynesians'?
Was this unified rugby team a business venture? Or was it an effort of ISLANDERS to promote and showcase talent that "POLYNESIANS" possess--- proving that they too are capable of performing on an international level and competing with rugby nations considered as 'powerhouses'.
I can understand and relate to the pride you have for your country. Fiji, just like other countries, stand alone in regards to identity. However, Polynesia is one of the three principal divisions of Oceania, comprising those island groups in the Pacific lying E of Melanesia and Micronesia and extending from the Hawaiian Islands S to New Zealand. Would you say Fiji fits this category. Not too long ago, Fiji and its neighbors--- Tonga and Samoa, joined forces to create a unified rugby team.
MCPrince you may be interested to know that at the end of December 2005 Fiji was ranked 11th out of 95 rugby-playing nations, only one place behind Scotland, and ahead of Canada and USA!
Nice footage. How did you get so close though? Did you have sideline passes or something? I haven't been following rugby for too long--it isn't exactly played often or even popular in the US--but the All Blacks are definitely the best in my mind. Go All Blacks!
