Great song. Terrific video. I can almost imagine if Jane's had done that tune. It's very Stephen and Roger. The boy/king Perry would definitely have turned his nose up at it though. It is a pretty decent album. Very interesting and comes from a good place. Tip of the hat to you, Rog!
the man has the midas touch. jane's addiction, deconstruction, polar bear, his solo work. it's all been good. also very diverse. he is an amazing talent.
Eric's vocals are an acquired taste. I started to dig his vocal style after listening to Deconstruction's album a couple of times (on a really good sound system)
I know what you mean. I hear a bit of Joy Division in his other stuff too. That's not surprising. I've read that Peter Hook and David J from Bauhaus/Love and Rockets were a huge influence on him.
Cool, I haven't heard a lot of Eric Avery's solo stuff but most of this song, especially the verses, sounds really similar to Joy Division especially the darkness of the song and his singing. Wicked username man. Syd Barret was fucking amazing, has created some of the most psychedelic music out there. It's too bad he did too much acid then went crazy and died.
That's interesting because I don't really see Syd's life as a tragedy. Aside from his breakdown, I imagine he was probably pretty happy as long as people left him alone about the past. I'm just thankful for the music and art he left behind for us.
Yeah whether he was happy with his life or ont, he wrote great influential music and created amazing art. Although, most of the stuff I've read say that after taking so much lsd for so long, it started to really affect syd's brain. He apparently started to get mentally ill and act extremely erratic which caused him to pretty much get kicked out of floyd and replaced with dave gilmour. He was probably happy with himself when he was alone living as a recluse though.
Either way, Syd Barrett was a pioneer of psychedlic music and founding members of one of the best rock bands. His exerimentation took music in a whole new direction and influenced an art form. It's a shame he died of cancer, still not elderly, at 60. R.I.P. Syd.
Jane's really needs to get back in the studio with this guy if they already haven't. You can hear from this song how much he influenced early Jane's. Jane's just isn't Jane's without him.
I was never in to Jane's addiction. Ever, really. I had never heard of this dude until a few days ago, when I followed a link in a signature in a forum to Eric Avery's website. I watched this video and I was like "I HAVE TO GET THIS." For the past two days, this album has been absolutely BLOWING ME AWAY.
What an amazing song and video. I'm a massive fan of Jane's Addiction but Eric's solo material is off on a totally different tangent. I already have the Deconstruction album, which is a masterpiece, and now I HAVE to go and get this. Thank you for your supremely talented work Mr. Avery!
this cd is very very cool....love every song

why doesn't a great song like this become a huge hit instead of having 16000 views? thats so annoying to me

Great video for an even better song.
Has a bit of Black Hole Sun about it, although a fair bit darker.
