about the cleaning of powder, I should ask a referee to clean it but we were at home practicing...Please note that there are international rule since 1956 (!) which allow to play backshots. When I was a child I didn't play backshot as well and were quite reticent at first, but the games (25 points) are played faster and the backshots allow numerous possibilities of shots impossible before, especially the "bombs".
Lovely Slams by Steeve Collard ... I am learning to make slams , could make 2 so far .. Many say thumb shots are not allowed, but as per international rules it is allowed. one should promote the international rules everywhere.
thats the quality of an international player and u can also get strikers made of elephant tusk in african countries and evne in india please upload some more videos
It was amazing the way he made the initial break in both games. Finally break is all that matters to make a white slam. I'm curious to know exactly what type of striker these players use. From video it looks like striker is very heavy and coins must be very light weight.
We use Pool-Ball strikers (15 grams) that we bought in India. This was a training session we had before playing for the French Carrom Team at the last World Carrom Chpship in 2008 in Cannes. The break is important but it's not all, I did many slams where I pocket one coin on the break, with only one or two easy shots, and you have to be able to make your difficult coins easy using many different techniques. I admit that those slams where not so hard to make...But I did three within 25 minutes!
Thanks for the info.. I'm from India only so can look for pool-ball strikers somewhere..
Ya that's true, you have to target your striker in such a way that you should make way for difficult coin along with getting easy coin in hole.. I wish I can get a white slam someday :)..
@Teinopalpus Hey, i'm new to this game and i was just wondering, according to the international rules of carrom is it a foul to hit another persons carrom pieces intentionally to mess up their chances of getting their pieces in?
i dont get it. i thought it is not allowed to shoot on a chip which is on your shooting line like you do on 2:55?! you are a great player, though. i just started playing, we are still rookies but we can finish a game quite fast already. gotta love carrom
Actually I used to play in many international tournaments, in India as well, and I never got a foul noticed by any referee ever...but it may look as a slow-push shot, I must admit...NOw I did almost 80 slams, I don't play as much as before..THank you for your comment, great to hear feedbacks of nice players
Excellent player! Impressed. I m from India & have played for more than 11 years with great amount of rules and regulations. The SHOT AT 2:56 is not allowed in any Carrom Competitions in India. It was actually a Slow-Push shot, which is not allowed. The shot is actually played in two part. First a slow push and then a strike. While slow-push, white coin goes little downward and then he strikes it.
No offence! Just thought to put some expert comment. LOLZ
This is a Surco board, Limited edition made especially for the last World Carrom Championship in Cannes, February 2008...This might be the finest board you can get
Do you know what other brands of boards there are that are of good quality? I am originally from Singapore and we bought a board from there to bring to Australia, it isn't very hard wearing and scratched up easily. As well the strikers we use are very light plastic.
I would like to get a nice setup... If you have any advice I would really appreciate it.
Try to check on youtube there is a very good video called "10 slams and 100 ideas for dynamic carrom"I've been many times to India to learn and play with the champions, and participated in international events. Just playif possible with good players and be patient, carrom techniques can be fast to learn but long to control...
You guys shoot wayyyy different than I used to when I was a little kid. I didn't play it for over 14 years and I got a chance to play a week and a half ago. Memories!! Love this game!!
they do it in order to make the game faster and more spectacular. They also want to simplify it in order to make it accessible for beginners, so that the game becomes more widespread worldwide.
Yes I'd agree with you on the backshot... I always played it with no backshot and it does allow the opponent a tactical 'safe' zone (i.e. putting an opponent colour behind the shoot line forcing a full table)... that aside... Great play
Also... Ivory or metal shooting pucks is disallowed - I'd say perspex is pretty close to Ivory material wise... the federation should specify 'Wood' not NOT metal or ivory
I did my 100th slam yesterday! But I must keep on practicing...

Hello mister teino,
Congratulations for your 100th slam and more than 100 000 views on youtube !!!
I love your way of playing, you're too good...can't win anymore against you...even if my slam number is two times yours...

Not under the laws set out by the International Carrom Federeration, though in certain provinces in southe-east asia they'd concur.
