I´m not a communist. Actually, I think Stalin was evil incarnate. However, apart from any judgment for better or worse and by historical points of view, he was the greatest politician ever. The USSR began crumbling right after his death. Lenin and Trotsky can´t be compared to him. He was the only one who could stop Hitler, and he did. Sometimes you must fight fire with fire.
Stalin learned everything from Lenin and Trotsky. He was a brilliant politician.. insofar as was a skilled manipulator, a cynical opportunist, a real Machiavellian. Yes, he managed to achieve the most absolute political power perhaps of any man in the modern era. But as a statesman your judgment falls far short of the mark, apart from GOELPRO and GOSPLAN I can't think of any Stalinist initiatives that strengthened Soviet power, fact is USSR defeated Germany in spite of Stalin not because of him.

I´m not a communist. Actually, I think Stalin was evil incarnate. However, apart from any judgment for better or worse and by historical points of view, he was the greatest politician ever. The USSR began crumbling right after his death. Lenin and Trotsky can´t be compared to him. He was the only one who could stop Hitler, and he did. Sometimes you must fight fire with fire.

Stalin learned everything from Lenin and Trotsky. He was a brilliant politician.. insofar as was a skilled manipulator, a cynical opportunist, a real Machiavellian. Yes, he managed to achieve the most absolute political power perhaps of any man in the modern era. But as a statesman your judgment falls far short of the mark, apart from GOELPRO and GOSPLAN I can't think of any Stalinist initiatives that strengthened Soviet power, fact is USSR defeated Germany in spite of Stalin not because of him.

In USSR people living in villages or any other
agricultural communities had to ask for IDs issued from their local "chairmen" to travel anywhere legally. All the citizens living in cities had their internal "passports" could travel relatively easy, but couldn't change permanent address (even within the same city) without local police permission (propiska).

The funniest thing about Communism is that, had Lenin lived, he would´ve been ousted, put on trial as as enemy of the people and purged. By 1922, Stalin already had full control over the Politburo.

Actually he entered the Politburo named as GenSek in 1922, named by Lenin himself. But you´re right, he became the de-facto leader in 1928, though he had become the main political figure in the USSR way earlier.

By looks of Khrushchev it was earlier anywhere from late 30s to early 40s...
Stalin, however, looks as if the video was shot post-war, even into the 50s.

This was in 1949. After the first Soviet atomic test. By the way, the gril making the speech is the daughter of Aleksandr Poskriobichev, Stalin´s aide. His wife - and the girl´s mother - had already been shot. When Poskriobchev cried, Stalin said "don´t worry, we´ll get you a new wife".

Yeah, that´s right, I read Montefiore´s book. Any problem? Is it a lie? Oh, the Gulag is a lie, the Holodomor is a lie, Trotsky´s death is a lie, the Great Purge is a lie... Stalin re-wrote or re-created the whole Russian-Soviet story, archives and pictures ´til 1953. My bad, it´s a lie too...

The fact that his other books show not only that he isn't a good writer, but totally-a historical, biased and famous fiction-book writer.

That what you said about Stalin rewriting archives, not even most dogmatic anti-communist ever claimed that in their wildest writings, from countless of historical factors. But strongest of them all being that they never had access to any of them.

Fact stands, as with all dogmatic anti-Stalin writings and 'researches'- Their sources are so 'truthful, valid and good', that in fact, none of their sources could ever pass in any court of law. (One of the reasons why they could never sue them, contrary to the fact that whole world sued Nazi Ger. for its atrocities, while processes against US, NATO...etc are still waiting to begin in international courts)
Only difference between Montefiore and the rest is in his modern belletristic narration
