Not shocked with a commissioner from the NBA. And what happens? Hockey suffers, the true fans get pissed, and defense is taken out of the game. Lifting the stick IS NOT a penalty

Ever since the lockout these calls are almost automatic. If you touch another player in anyway shape or form with your stick, your in the box for hooking. ESPECIALLY if its a breakaway. One of these days it will be at the point where you get a clear cut breakaway, with noone around, you trip and the ref just randomly selects a player and puts him in the box for hooking AND a penalty shot is awarded

He didn't hook him but it was a legitimate call. He didn't lift his stick he whacked him in the hands. An incredibly minor slash yes, but it basically kept him from a scoring chance when he had the defenseman clearly beat.
The refs actually made the right call for once even though it was an unpopular and tough one to make.

Refs are couched to make those calls. If you even touch a player on a break, its a guaranteed penalty. The point being, two chances for a guy to score. More goals equals more fans equals more money. Not shocked with a commissioner from the NBA. And what happens? Hockey suffers, the true fans get pissed, and defense is taken out of the game. Lifting the stick IS NOT a penalty

Ever since the lockout these calls are almost automatic. If you touch another player in anyway shape or form with your stick, your in the box for hooking. ESPECIALLY if its a breakaway. One of these days it will be at the point where you get a clear cut breakaway, with noone around, you trip and the ref just randomly selects a player and puts him in the box for hooking AND a penalty shot is awarded
