Longer lifespans for Americans will place greater strains on Social Security and Medicine. Most politicians have the attitude of "let the building collapse and then we'll put up a new building". Others are like "let's put a fresh coat of paint on the building and it will look better... until it collapses".
One problem is that fixing any of these serious issues will cost us a lot and no one wants to be the one to seriously tell the public the cost.
Politicians and analysist tell us every term that Social Security will fail us by as certain date. In the 1970's they stated it would happen by 2000, but it's generally because there's no government effort to continue funding it.
Hillary Clinton made changes to our healthcare system back in 1993 as her husband appointed her Head of the Task Force on National Health Care Reform. The full plan didn't make it through Congress, but the damages made to Medicare/Medicaide are still ocurring today. Spend-downs became an issue in disability claims and price gouging on medication skyrocketed while the Clinton family invested heavily in Pharmaceutical Companies.
She contradicts herself. Even on Iraq. She voted for the invasion yet she points the finger at everyone else. She had the chance to correct our National Healthcare and made it worse. Now she wants the oppurtunity to work on it again ?
I think Dennis Kucinich has talked of medicare.

Rudy and McCain don't represent conservatives, Republicans or Americans in general.
I'm all for a Tancredo/Paul ticket in '08.
I see Rudy, McCain and Romney as liberal, extreme and unworthy as Hillary, Obama and Edwards.
