Laying on his back really signifies nothing, although it probably is. Once when I saw them in Orlando in Feb 1995, they played in a barn and it was so FUCKING cold. Deaner played 1/2 of the 3 hour set behind the drums sitting down trying to keep warm. I am sure you could have easily said that he was too drunk/high to stand, but it probably was just that he was FREEZING.
I've seen Gener walk off the stage during the last song dozens of times... most commonly when they wrap with LMLYP or Buenos Tardes. Probably the case here.
if you knew anything about gener, and his past struggles with drugs, you would know that there was probably a little more susbstances involved than just alcohol..
This is probably 'A Tear for Eddie' melding into 'Don't you remember u told me u loved me baby'.. I hear no Jew. And where is Gene in this? Your description is weird..
besides the fact that Jim Morrison was a complete bum, why would you want to pay to see someone you supposedly love, slowly die in front of you? Good thing for us all Gener is still breathing...let's just take it day by day for now and hope he stays healthy, because NONE of us want to see this or a Cat's Craddle situation at our next Ween show.
@reggaejunky I was there too, totally agree with you. You don't really get the idea of how hopeless he looked and how sad that moment was unless you were there,

Back in 94 I saw them at the Axis in Boston, and I have never seen Gener more wasted. He was pounding jack and then left stage only to come back and say "that was a little jack for the nose". But that was back in 94, these guys have gone thru this before, and they'll go thru it again. They never stop rocking. And to whoever theorized that Dean doesnt have his heart into it should punch their own nuts. Just listen, hear it, yeah that's all heart bitch.
This was an amazing show and considering that some BC slinger gave Gener something that was too potent for him to give you a show of "approximately the same quality" as a CD....well, maybe Ween is not the band for you. I'm sure theoryofanickelcreed can provide you with that sort of live entertainment.
We all need something to get us through. Like Dr. Johnson said: "A man makes a beast of himself to get rid of the pain of being a man". Life is not a reward but a curse. Its how you deal with it is how you are judged by every other person on the face of the planet who thinks they know they are right. Just for one friggin instance try to understand. We all have brown goin down but who anywhere can say they are a better person than this fine artist.
Sweet. Gener being Gener. Don't know why anyone who has any idea about what this band came from is surprised. Although I am worried about Gener losing tons of weight out of no where. Someone either dosed him or he's on the H or Oxy.
@jerlani Id ay large coin to watch Gener ramble thru....just want him to stay alive...personally I think Deaner doesnt have his heart in it anymore....saw fuck it...Gene Ween Band rocks just as hard.
if you are going to charge me money to watch your performance, then you owe me a quality set. I buy your CD's because I enjoy the music on the CD. The show better be approximately the same quality. Being to inebriated to perform is unacceptable and should result in a refund.
@jerlani - you're full of crap! Do you want to watch an entirely fucked up performer crawl around on the stage? Maybe you do....but speak for yourself. There are those among us who like to see a semi sober performance with some edge to it–and NOT a bunch of totally fucked up, hopeless shits like Gene Ween was in this instance, LOL. You're clueless dude LOL
@jerlani You paid. They perform. And they do it well, or you didn't get your money's worth. That's fucking retarded to assume otherwise. Performers and Audience.
@jerlani that was my first and so far only ween show and even though gener wasn't 100% it was still a great show. everyone else ripped it up. I was getting pissed off, listening to all these people who have seen ween umpteen times and bitching about a bad show. it's rock n roll for chrissakes. I would have liked gener to be in a little better shape but hey, probably next time. and as far as morrison or joplin, I would expect a good sloppy show
Yeah during reggaejunkiejew after one of the audience jumped up on stage gener joined him backstage for a little session perhaps? :-/ And it did look like deaner was pissed off like the rest of the band.
Hope Gener straightens himself up it would be a sad end to the legends that ween have become.
Nothing happened in this video.

I was at this show, and yeah, it was ReggaeJunkieJew, with an awesome Carpenters jam in the middle. Gene is fux0red.
The best songs they did all night, I thought, were covers. Dave (?) the bass player sang on a brilliant cover of The Ace of Spades.
