I flew helicopters with the 170th AHC. We pulled an evacuation while in support of the 1/92nd. We tried all night but the fog in the valley was too thick to get to the base. We got them out and back to the evac hospital in Pleiku but to this day do not know if they survived. These men at BHSF camp are true heroes.
I did'nt know till recently there was a road? into Ben-Het as we were were flown in (chinook) this was in 68 and I talked to person recently who has maps of area. I do recall hearing B-52's dropping bombs at nite please correct me if wrong!
@wrcdhs65 You probably don't recall where the golf of tonkin was a false flag operation. So good job fighting an illegal war. And good job not suing your congressmen to get them impeached and trialed for treason against the american public.
I was sent to Ben-Het from Artilley Hill sent there to help reinforce the plawas probally sometime in 68 ,we were flown in by chinook from DakTo,shortly after getting in the air we returned to Dakto reason being Ben-Het was receiving fire at the time After arriving At ben-Het I recall It was sure differant from Artillery Hill I had a bad feeling about the place and was glad to out ,guards on tower reported movement ard tower perimiter was checked and viet cong were tunneling in area of tower
Flew in here a few times in a C 7A Caribou. We supplied the Special Forces with everything including live cows. Their airstrip was as big as a football field. I was 19 and bullet proof

Truth is yes, the US has been at war against all these countries...
My brother-in-law was in Ben Het for 12 months in 1969 with no R&R. It took him the better part of 40 years to get the VA to acknowledge his PTSD. The betrayal of the brave men who fought and died at Ben Het and other non-essential political wars is a national disgrace.
sometime around 1975 Reasoner went solo on ABC with Smith just doing commenatires, something Smith would continue to do for a short time after the Reasoner/Walters debacle -- when Roone Arldege ushered in World News Tonight with Reynolds, Robinson and Jennings and Walters doing special reports.
Harry Reasoner occasionally filled in for Walter Cronkite on CBS' evening newscast. By this point, he was mainly known for co-hosting "60 Minutes" with Mike Wallace; that show was only in its first season and only shown every other week (it did not move to its current time slot until 1975). About a year and a half later, Reasoner would become a full-time nightly newscaster on ABC, working alongside Howard K. Smith for five years until his infamous pairing with Barbara Walters.
