  • Pretty darn close my friend, but no cigar..your missing a couple notes. Overall it sounds good though. Keep on a rockin!

  • nice cover :D

     watch?v=1P2D-Xei33Q

  • what amp do u have i have a peavy tko 80

  • Did you do this by ear, or tab?

  • Great!

  • i havesomething to say.... shut up and play! if you have something to tell, write it in the description, we skip your speaking anyway xD

  • mexi made w/22 fret neck?

  • I like the sound as it reminds me of a Rickenbacker from the 70's... I'm playing an ESP through an Ashdown Five Fifteen 100w with 15inch (could use more power even for bedroom practice but then again I live in an old stone house in the rural countryside)... thanks for the video as I'll practice the tune... btw... been playing the electric (72 Telecaster Custom) for the past 38 years and just learning the great fun on a bass!

  • Flat strings? The 7/16 section is a little wrong

  • Really good dude check out my cover plz!

  • cool bro

  • why the Flats?

  • skip to 1:01 if you want to skip to the cover :)

  • Nice Cover

  • nice skills bro

  • This song is very easy to play on bass!!! yyz is harder to play, but i love this song

  • omg talk less you faggot nerd

  • pretty good dude i bet ur alot better now thanks for posting man keep it up

  • i do use tabs every now and again. but im in band in school so i can read sheet music which is much better for learning the rhythm

  • well obviously but they are for people who dont feel like taking lessons but still wanna play great

  • i got this down except its hard for me to keep time at the guitar solo section

  • Tabs are ok I guess, but if you get serious about music it really is worth your time to learn to read music... Tabs are notoriously unreliable (when you get them off the interwebs) and they are terrible for notating rhythm.

Nice job on the song... keep it up.

  • @mikeyspoon I know how to read sheet music but I have to use tabs most of the time because free sheet music is hard to come by.

I have a lot of trouble with the part starting at 3:00

  • I don't play bass, but great cover bro!!

  • wow tabs are the first thing you should learn when you play the bass or the guitar in order to learn a simple song

  • No, you should learn written music.

  • what the hell are tabs?!?!?!?!

  • tabs tell you how to play it........for bass there will be four line... one for each string......on the lines it tells you what frets to play

  • What the hell are you?

  • where did u get ur tabs?

or how did u learn the song??

  • he said he doesnt use tabs

  • what are tabs?

  • dude ur a boss. ten thousand stars

  • Ur AMAZING!!!!

  • damn good job

  • this guy is win.

  • The Holy Fucking Triumvirate

  • same here queensbiggestfan!!!!!!!

  • geddy is the resone i started playing bass nice playin man solid 5 out of 5!!!!

  • geddy is the man

  • nice playin man!

  • SLAPPED THE BASS!!!!

  • Excellent job man. A solid 4.5 stars.

  • You know, a lot of people think guitar is better than bass. I think Geddy Lee has been proving them wrong since 1981.

  • try to play a song without guitar

  • He did, in Rush's songs, the lead was bass, not guitar.

  • check out victor wooten's Classical Thump. It was the reason I started playing bass... you will be amazed

  • @Kyler2013 Why 1981? why not 1968??

  • @Kyler2013 both are good instruments, i love them both :)

  • @Kyler2013 damn right he has as has les claypool and other awesome bassists

  • @Kyler2013 Yeah you can add Steve Harris,Frank Bello and Timmy from RATM in their too!!

  • @Kyler2013 I agree and I play guitar, haha!

  • @Kyler2013 There is no better. Rush needs both guitar and bass to make their music. Is Geddy better than Alex? Is Alex better the Neil? What do you think the music would be like if any one of them was missing?

  • @Kyler2013 And Billy Sheehan, John Entwistle and John Paul Jones have been doing the same for even longer.

  • @Kyler2013 since 1969

  • @Kyler2013 since July 29, 1953

  • On the bass solo section each measure alternates between what your doing and then the last two notes ending with D and B. Listen close and I'm sure you'll catch it. Good job though. keep it up.

  • lmao i just watched i love you man lastnight :D and i play bass so i say it all the time now

  • yeah its good nt nothing great..!the technique is good but i feel nt tht good enough for ppl to follow it..I am nothing actually n u play loads loads better than me..but when u compare it with the others..its nothing special..Honest opinion man..

  • him or geddy lee?

  • What is that.... Is that a Leprechaun or something?

  • Well done! If I may be a bit picky though, the 7/8 pattern, the very last note you play is an open 'A.' In actual fact, the very last note is a 'B' played at the 7th fret on the 'E' string. Likewise, when the riff goes up a fourth the last note is not an open 'D' but an 'E' played at the 7th fret on the 'A' string. Hope you don't mind me pointing this out.

  • Good Cover Man! Love you bass. You helped me learn this song.

  • how long you been playing?

  • Incredible cover!

  • That sounds nothing like a jazz bass even though i know it is...

it should sound sharper with a lot more treble and a little overdrive if your playing rush

    good cover though.

  • this is probably explained by the flatwound strings and the amp with the 15" inch speaker

  • are those the strings were when you slide they dont give that "scratchy" and "slidy" sound.

  • I also play through a 15"....hes right, it takes away the treble.

But, I don't mind, I'm a metal bassist. I'm not looking for any treble :D

  • @JohnnyBass88 Also, since he's got upgraded pickups they're gonna sound different than the standard Jazz bass ones

  • @JohnnyBass88 You don't need overdrive all u need to do is jack up the treble a bit and play aggressively. You need to "strike" the strings rather than "pluck"

  • @JohnnyBass88 i own a geddy lee jazz fender and a more aggressive strum will give more twang and sparkle no matter what

  • really good

  • remember me. i just wanted to see this video a 14th time! because its insane.5 stars

  • sheet music dumb

  • and by ear, duh

  • man, stop talking, just play^^

  • dont explain it

  • on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is this song. i wuna learn to play it.

  • its pretty easy except for the solo

  • well...not really.

  • yeah...

  • the only problem im having learning the song is getting the rythm right

  • i love this song!nice cover!

  • Excellent.

  • in the chorus when your going from f# to g " and what you say about his company.." etc. try hammering on/pulling off the notes it sounds nice.

    great cover 5 stars

  • i like bending that part and combining legato techniques

    great cover 5*

    Rush is Amazing too!

  • lol your bass sounds exactly like mine!! x] excellent job btw. this video helped me alot with learning this song. :D

  • learn to sing it too :)

  • You should tab this out, because I am pretty sure that is pretty different than the tabs I was using recently, and I like it.

  • why do you use a pick on some covers but your fingers one others?

  • because he needs to use a different technique for different sounds and styles, duh.

  • because thats the way the original song are played

  • oh btw. i like to tap on the solo

  • i love the diversity of the sounds between bassists. I play the same song and notes but it sounds completely different.

  • what tabs did u use

  • he said he didnt use tabs

  • Amazing...

  • i like flatwound strings and all, but they have no sustain

  • Superb!

  • Have you guys ever seen Geddy Lee :)

  • Yes i have actually, he owns :D

  • don't thumb me down, he DOES look like a nerd, but that doesn't mean he can't be good at bass >_>

  • the point was Rush is considered nerd rock hahaha

  • you stupid fuck just because he has glasses doesn't make him a nerd I'd like to see you play this

  • Who ever said, he was a nerd for wearing glasses? please learn to read, and what the hell does me calling him a nerd, have to do with my bass playing skills?

  • wow your an awesome bassist keep it up

  • nice bass, great playing. you helped me learn that in bout 20 mins with a tab. geddys bass is so good. gona get a jazz 24 when i have money.

  • You are an awesome bassist dude. keep it up

  • Good Job.

  • youre very good

  • I like the fender sound but I'm more partial to Gibson even though Fender's are easier to play. I just prefer the Gibson look and sound.

  • How do you get such a punchy sound out of your jazz bass i have an american made 60th anniversary jazz bass and all i get are mello flat sounds...

  • the amp.

  • the bad thing about fender basses is that you can only ajust the volume from your bass and not the tone, treble, and bass. so every time you need to change a setting you have to go to your amp. try messing around with the settings on your a little bit and also try changing your strings. you can get a much heavier tone with new strings.

  • Nel

  • wow. you are really good dude keep it up
