The one thing one must keep in mind is the strength of the frame the wheel or hub is attached to. The new hub's torque can easily damage an aluminum fork or composite fork when in operation. This could be catastrophic to the rider who just installed the conversion kit. Keep in mind the forces at work. This is why you mostly see heavier steel framed type mountain type bikes inheriting these kits and not the lighter road bikes.

You can get a lot of High quality E-bike parts from Busettii electric bikes in LA. They ahve the really long range and higher speed stuff. I ride a Busettii Bike and it gets about 55 miles of riding on one charge unless I ride it at the top speed of 27 mph then it only gets about 35 miles per charge. Rainbow
why not try (less revolution) front drive motor with bigger diameter wheel 26" and the 2nd rear Charging motor with bigger Watt n Current on smaller 24" wheel (turn faster) to generate back electricity into the Battery. Both motor with 1Way DC Blocking Diode". So U might get "more travelling DISTANCE without charging it regulary at home !!
@Drdump1 That is what is fun about making your own electric bike, you can try out ideas like that and see how they work. If your idea works out, you may have something the world is really looking for right now.
I wonder how this would compare to a Busettii Electric bike ? They run 60 miles on a charge and weigh about 55 lbs. so that seems like its better. I see them at busettii.com web page. Any one ever rode a Busettii ?? Rainbow
@doubletriplerainbow Complete bikes are a good option, too. They usually trade off speed for range. In most states, complete bikes are limited to 20mph top speed. Kit bikes can be much faster. If you ride the kit bike at a low speed and with the right battery, you can get that kind of range on a kit bike.
I have a Mini 40 Mile Busettii bike and it runs 50-55 miles on one battery charge. I also tried my friends Vortex Mountain bike by Busettii. It ROCKS ! Can get up to 32 mph top speed, and on one charge that bike set the new record of 86 miles. Hope it becomes a big hit. In California many people like Busettii because they cost around $1700 but can go 50--86 miles on one charge depending on model. Maria in Cali

Regarding re-gen. Maybe a modified car alternator could be rigged with a roller to be driven by the front wheel. Flip the alternator in for the down grades and adjust the field current. In North Cornwall we have cliffs 400 feet high. Streams have cut valleys through these so on my journey to work it was a 400 foot climb, a drop to almost sea level then 400 feet again. The car used a lot of fuel and disc pads! Cycling not popular in such terrain (15% grades).
@techdavey1000 Regen is complicated. The BMC motor has a clutch so it coasts freely but it cannot provide regen. Hub motors with no clutch will always add drag unless power is being applied to the motor. We sell controllers that do regen. If your motor has no clutch, regen is a good idea. I prefer a motor with a clutch - regen on a bike delivers very little charge I think allowing the bike to coast is more efficient.
@96Gunslinger69@96Gunslinger69 These are about 9 lbs. Some weigh up to 23 lbs. Geared internal non powered bike hubs can weigh 4 lbs. Lightweight non powered race hubs can weigh about 1/2 pound.
@Lordboobie You need to take extra steps to waterproof it. You can usually get it to handle a light rain, but it is very hard to protect from really wet conditions.
@lilfree22 I have made chopper style. They usually have more room for batteries inside the frame if you make a bracket or bag to hold them. A rack is sometimes harder to install on a chopper, but it usually be done.
@finalwave29 Yes, we sell various kits on our website.

Can we do the same on the Dahon Eco 3 folding bike?

@jfryda It is a tight fit, and you need to get a motor made for a small wheel, but it can be done.

Is regenerative braking an option? (In hilly districts its a must have otherwise the battery power is being wasted in the brakes)

It does not work very well. BMX wheels are a small diameter, so it makes the top speed very low. But it does have a lot of torque like that.

How fast and far can these kits go because these is a video named (fastest bike in world) I think that showed a person going at least 35 or faster
in a couple of seconds. The disadvange is the thing has a range of 15 miles on a charge.
