  • this song so butful im likin the old jams and im a young cat this is how r stuff came out cause of them

  • Its so beautiful their chemistry theyre not singing at each other but to each other!

  • Was this a performance from an awards show?

  • the audience was dead until Alex came out

  • Weird just seeing a singer on stage singing her heart out and not a bunch of latex, hair dye, dancing, and lipsyncing.

  • one of the most sexiest songs of the 80's, a classic from that decade

  • I am a big 80's music lover and this is how I want to remember this song! That BET shit was so disappointing! Cherelle had to carry the song and why they got them giving wiz an award! Alex you still my boy but the drugs have caught up to you!

  • Love this song

  • Who the heck is linda cotton? Lol

  • @deidra82able lol...said the same thing..lmfao!!! Gonna have to research...lol!

  • I was watching them on unsung tonight

  • Performance is so Great. I still love it in 2011 <3

  • I wish we could go back in the day when you could understand music.

  • @georigapeachishy yeah todays mainstream music is complete garbage

  • Who cares about the supposed bad performance on soul train. They have had 25 great years. Screw u haters who even want to bring that up! Str8 FU! Go Alex!

  • I Always Thought They Said Shutup But They Were Saying Sugar

  • DRUGS ARE BAD!!!!!!

  • this wasnt a good performance from alex

  • I always thought they said 'shut up' at the end but it's 'Sugar'.....LOL

  • They had it going on then.

  • @Ms42love dam the back vocals sound a little like Paula, pebbles, Janet, Vanessa Williams.......

  • OMG... the performance on BET 2011 awards was horrible....poor Alexander he had to be drunk.. high...something...smh

  • @apuregem yes it was, its the caine

  • What a relief! This is much better than that train wreck of a performance they had of this song on The 2011 BET Awards! If they ever do it live again, I hope they put on the CD and lip-synch to the song because neither seems to be what they used to be vocally.

  • @Junkay2 it wasnt cherrelle it was alexander her looked bad

  • @Junkay2 I agree with you. I saw the BET Awards and they should have 'lip sync'd' it. Alexander really looks like a shell of his old self. The way he looks should be a lesson to all those folks, whether they are entertainers, athletes or 'hard workin' folks: LEAVE THAT SHIT ALONE!!! It will make you 'null and void.'

  • Very good UNSUNG special on TV One tonight on Alexander and Cherrelle!

  • @eyesley I just watched a repeat of that show and it was sad to see how drugs messed Alexander up. It sounded like he was still mad at prince for not putting up with his crap back in the day. If i understood the story correctly, he came in the door making demands and Prince wasn't having it..

  • music will never be like this again

  • 1986 Alex first tour in the UK, with Cherrelle. Croydon. Still got the t-shirt! Pure class.

  • I get so emotional listening to this song.... Classic 80's soul ballad! Alex, I just love you...

  • I get so emotional when I listen to this song.... Great 80's soul ballad. Alex I just love you..!

  • My song!

  • they really sing the shit out of this song

  • no such thing as autotune for these folk. pure class

  • Two of the greatest live performers. Most artists in the 80s used lipsyncing (let's be honest here) and it's a treat to find an 80s video with an artist actually singing.

  • Sugar

  • Never on Sunday, Monday’s too soon

Tuesday and Wednesday just won’t do

Thursday and Friday we can begin

But our Saturday love will never end...SUGAR!!!

  • I can't believe that Cherelle looked in the mirror and said this hairstyle is cute....

  • @brendabeenlovingalex It was the 80s, everything was cute, cool, crazy, different ect.

  • @brendabeenlovingalex It was the 80s, everything was cute, cool, crazy, different ect.

  • @clipsryan ,and Cool!!!!

  • One of my all time favorite songs they were perfect when i saw them at Piccadillys in Indianapolis a long time ago !

  • Simply Outstanding! T.

  • I was recently in London with my parents. As my Father decided to put in his favorite Alexander O'neal album, I look out the window´, and say "Hey that dude looks just like Alexander O'neal but really old". My Mother opens the window, peaks her head out, goes fricking crazy, my dad stops the car including all traffic, they both jump out the car and run to Alexander O'neal like teenagers again. Now we have like forty pictures of him, and I have to say, he's still a good looking man...

  • @SensationalK1991 THAT is so cool!

  • Masterpiece

  • Always thought the "When I think about you" sample was a woman singing XD

  • timeless

  • great standing ovation at time 1:52 where Alexander comes in...

  • Yea he sung the shit out this. i put him in the same category vocally as Luther. Such an effortless performance. One of the last of a dying breed. So classy to. not all oversexed like some of the performers today theyd be simulating sex. Its too much for me and im only 30!

  • I got hit by a car that year~lol i was 13. that how i remember this hit. I got ran over on Chicagos Westside. North Ave and Central. By Davinci Manor~ Stand up!

  • great fucking performance, goose bumbs! Mr Oneal could sing like a Muthafucker!!!!!!

    yea gonna watch it again

  • i think he did a good love himmm

  • Love them two together.....like butter on toast! :)

  • I think Alex fucked this up he started out good but I don't know what happen.

  • i feel ya on that he messed it up real bad

  • I'm not even born in the 1980s (from the 1990s) but it says to be said, 80s has more soul than any other decade.

  • The clue's in the title

  • Umm not the guy singing, I know thats Alexander Im talking about Lou Rawls now

  • ALEXANDER O'NEIL!! check him out...

  • Wow, Oneal lost it. He used to hit that high note at 2.17 Huge difference from the original. Cherrelle still has it.

  • This legendary song used to be played in Coney Island Park while I rode The Cyclone with my sister in the early 80's.

Those were some very happy days.

  • OMG I used to ride the Cyclone back in the day. They used to play this song and Stacey Q's Two of Hearts while we rode. Those were the days. :o)

  • Man i love Alexander O'Neal thats one of the best Rnb soul singers of all times to me and no can tell me diffrent. I have all his records and i mean records old skool lol.

  • two unique and recognizable voices. unfortunately not lined-up properly. great though.

  • I agree....

  • You know this is what i miss from music lol.. seeing if the artist could sing "live" like the recording... I use to live to watch live performances just for that...Now its about dancing and being slutty....

  • HOT BOY!!

Alex needed a lil water before singing... and probably more after smokin the stage w/Cherrelle

  • Timeless

  • Tune! My girl can drop it live!

    New singers look and learn.

  • People should see her now she is fine still got it going on

  • Today's artists need to learn from past artists like these. The learning knowledge they need to get is how to sing LIVE.

  • Yep, I still know the lyrics to this J-A-M!

  • Tastee!!!!!

  • Cherrelle always had such style. She was doing something different when everyone else had crazy clothes and weaves down their back.

    Love her!!!

  • ASHFORD AND SIMPSON?

  • Hello ally the rapper sang it better than all them ok he is true to it.

  • Damn Cherrelle is singing her azz off here. I love when artist sing live instead of all that fake singing.

  • LOVE THIS SONG ;)

  • So do I but that hair do of her's has got to goooooo....
