  • Is it possible to be in love in an inanimate object?

  • @spacitydrummer4JC I think so.....

    Tony

  • Sigh.... such a sweet sound.

  • why du have the reso head so tight?

  • @2112LSG The bottom head is tuned at a pretty normal "high" tension. We do this because, it seems to work more often than not. It is all player preference though.

    Tony

  • hi there i like all the snare you demoed but i can,t see any PREMIER can i ask why?

  • Whats with the gate? Can we hear it naturally?

  • @eRealist - We haven't manipulated the audio, it is the natural sound, however this is one of our early videos when we were still figuring out what the best mic'ing techniques would be, so it is the admittedly somewhat poor quality of the mic-placement / choice that you're hearing.

    - Andy

  • @DrumCenterNH sure.

  • @MrM33shy21 We don't with the blue olive badge, just the keystone. The blue olive was a special release.

    Tony

  • Do u guys have any like this in stock.

  • @MrM33shy21 We always try to keep them available, do mean, with that badge?

    Tony

  • Beautiful tone! The tuning is fantastic, as there are no ringy overtones. Are you using any sort of damping? I can't see an O-ring or anything of the sort in the video. If not, then how do you recommend tuning to get a tone like this, with no ringing overtone at a specific pitch?

  • @onthe1drop There isn't any dampening on any of the snares when we do demos. The only real way to get the drum to be even pitched with no crazy overtones, is to make sure that all the tension rods are at equal tension. This goes for the bottom head as well.

    Tony

  • One snare drum to rule them all!

  • I think higher tensions of the batter head work better with an higher tension of the reso, but it's only a suggestion, not a critic. brilliant snare, anyway

  • tHE ONE YOU PLAYED IN THE VIDEO HAD SERIAL NUMBERS. Sorry the all caps was on. Bill

  • I want one with the blue and olive badge to match my kit. How do you order that instead of a keystone badge?

  • @maryted - modern black beauties (e.g. circa 2011) feature both Keystone badges and clipped B/O badges without serial numbers. The Keystone badge models are "A-stock" while the clipped B/O badge models are "B-stock". The B-stock drums typically have small blemishes in the black nickel plating, but are otherwise superb in every way. The only way to get a black beauty with a full badge (including serial #) is to pick up a used / vintage model. Hope that helps!

  • I want one!

  • Just got one of these from you guys. The one with the tube lugs. You guys run a tight ship over there. Thanks for the great customer service and awesome products. SZ in Chicago.

  • @zoltar5282 - thanks for the kind words and your business. We really appreciate it! Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help :)

  • On loose tuning do u have your reso med or loose tuned too?

  • @richardsuarez23 - The reso tuning is constant throughout the video, pretty much a medium tension

  • I now have a Ludwig 14/5 super sensitve aluminium 1972 snare ..i can not say enuff about it, just a wonderfull user freindly snare, its just superb, so easy to tune.

  • Would this have been what Ronnie Tutt used with the Elvis band in the 70s?

  • my god!!! one of the best snares out there.. just amazing

  • Veryvery nice snaresound.

Whats the difference between the 14x6.5 and 14x5 (sound, style, etc.)? thx and greetings

  • @schlaraffi Basically the extra depth gives it better low tuning.

  • i like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! best 4ever

  • Nice guy, but more drumming less chat!

  • what heads do you recommend......i like a full bodies open snare sound

  • @drumdoc evans g1 and hazy 300

  • @drumdoc Just played on one of these snares --- looking at heads. Evans Power Center maybe, or Remo Vintage Emperor would sound great on this drum. Im going with Evans.

  • i'd love to listen to the hammered version as well!!

  • Sounds best on tight tuning :D

  • john bonham?

  • what mic do you use for record ?

  • My own dick is on that drum, and it feels FUZZY! YEAH! I forgot to do it again inside his vagina, ooops!

  • carter beaufords snare!

  • do u tune ur top head?

  • OVERRATED. BUT if Carter Beauford likes em they`re OK wiff me!

  • @flymarvin Totally agree lol and you can't deny the snare on the last album sounds great!

  • OVERRATED.

  • me want

  • whats the difference between this and a supraphonic?

  • @rlmofreg the black beauty is made of brass

  • @MegaDrumRoll so is the supraphonic

  • @rlmofreg nope the supras are aluminium. black beauties are brass.

  • @MegaDrumRoll watch?v=wHe7mlHSdnU&feature=related

  • @rlmofreg the word "supra-phonic" refers to the p-85 throw-off. every ludwig snare that has the p-85 throw off is a supraphonic. ludwig just makes them in diffrent kinds of metals like brass bronze or aluminium.

  • @MegaDrumRoll oh, thanks:)

  • carter beaufords snare

  • can someone tel me the actuall tuning for this drum to get that fat famous thud that its known for even at the high end..? do you do tune bottom head higher or wat?

  • I like how you show different tunings

  • last, when u tune your snare med, do u have your bottom head medium tight too?, thanks.

  • do u use stock heads on it? , thanks

  • @ricardoieci - yep, we do use the stock heads in all of our videos

  • Sweet videos. They are really helpful!

  • its my next snare

  • do u tune your bottom head too?

  • @ricardoieci - Yes of course!

  • Love the sound of snare and I really appreciate that you record it with using different tuning but could you hit it just once sometimes?

  • BB..!? BB what>>!? just got me a sonor artist brass, and it looks down at a BB ...oh yes sir...loooooks doooooown!! ;o)

  • BEST SOUNDING SNARE EVER

  • What would be the real difference between this snare and the pork pie big black brass? Does it really sound that much different? Can't tell just from videos.

  • it was a pleasure to talk to you about the lidwig black beauty.. very informative... let me know when the order comes in.....

  • is this drum easy to tune?

  • @ricardoieci incredibly easy to tune..

  • I got one of these with a hammered shell and the 100 anniversery badge... AMAZING

  • I own the black magic, same thing but not seamless. Still sounds fantastic for half the price.

  • @x1337xCAZIE Not the same man! Don't try to justify your frugality! Should of spent just a little more. The drum is the shit!! the value will never go down!

  • @5drum5 Uhh... he can justify his frugality any way he wants to. Power to him for not overspending on a snare if he didn't want to overspend. The Black Magic IS the same as the Black Beauty save for the hardware and the seamed/seamless shell. The Black Magic uses a seamed WorldMax shell. It's no better or worse than the Black Beauty, it's just different.

  • I have this snare too.It is just awesome and my snare is like 20 years old and sounds like the first day:D

  • I have the exact same snare drum. Well exact same except it's mine.

  • it sounds best when it is tuned lower

  • Hey, when you tune these snares up, did you retune the bottom head too? Just interested to know! - Great reviews by the way! :)

  • @jpes07 - Yep - both top and bottom are tuned!

  • @DrumCenterNH - I think jpes07 means when you go from low tuning to medium tuning, do you tighten up the bottom AND the top?

  • @DrumCenterNH One question - you write "Black Beauty snare" in the name of the video, and, for instance, memhisdrumshop writes "Black Beauty Supraphonic snare" - so is there a difference or is this one a supraphonic too?

  • This is my next purchase.....

Hopefully i can tune it as expertly as these folks did lol

  • I'm stuck between this and the 6.5x14 dunnett steel snare...

  • Nothing beats the original workhorse, Ludwig's Black Beauty. :D
