@MegaManNeo Every console well there first form(prototype) was acctually cartrige based systems because they could store more on a cart but it cost alot to make the carts
I remember using a unit very simular to this but it didn't have the same controller ports. The controller ports were pretty much phone jacks if I remember correctly.
The dev units were made for testing, they didn't need to look like the final product. Usually, they contain more options such as buttons to make an artificial fatal error and tools to test.
Dev units of Nintendo's consoles are the confidential property of Nintendo though. It's illegal to own them.
Shame the systems could make more of an impact on the gaming scene...it was only 2nd powerful to the original Xbox..but in terms of sales both the systems paled in comparsion to the might of the PS2....
Dude my friend got a dreamcast game that came with a little fill-in card. On the card out of "Which consoles do you own/ want to purchase?" it showed the gamecube as the Nintendo Dolphin!
you said they were going to "release a custom pc" this was never going to be released. This is for internal use only. The gamecube BEAT it? This IS a gamecube. Wow. Did I even CALL you a child? NO.
"Looks like Nintendo was gonna release a custom PC with some extra controller slots, ugly shit. The GameCube definitly beat it. " No where did you say "it's a dev kit" you thought they were going to RELEASE this.
Uhh, look who's fucking stupid. I knew the GameCube was codenamed the Dolphin, and this was the dev kit they originally thought of at the time. Later Nintendo found a way to make it small and came up with the name GameCube. You are making an argument out of bullshit. I already knew it was a dev kit, you just asume I didn't know, which I did. What a fucktard. You don't assume I don't know it's a dev, I already knew that from first watching the video. God damn fucking shit kid.
You miss-interpret everything I ever said you dumbass. I was saying if they released the dev kit like this, everyone woulda said this looked like a custom pc. I thought you were smart enough to know that that was what I meant. But I guess not. Don't assume, don't judge, don't expect, don't miss-interpret, don't dispute. Think before you speak jerk.
No going around it, it's right there. You typed it. So it's not me being able to interpret what you're saying, It's me not being psychic. You're not smart enough to type what you mean.

Nope. Already knew it was a developers kit box. They obviously didn't release the GameCube that way. In fact, before they called it GameCube, Nintendo had it codenamed Dolphin. You think I don't know things, how sad. I'm the guru of this gaming industry, I read a whole lot of shit from articles in magazines to the web. I didn't know this was the start of the GameCube as a PC box modified, but now that I've seen it, I automatically knew it was a dev kit.
Awesome !

Err... no disc drive?
Sure in the beginning, every console is based on computer hardware (I guess) but how to test software on it?

@SpiritTheWolf1 yeah in fact it is that's why you can read DOL on the underside.
but the DDH had use streaming games I think because I haven't find out yet what it boots, could be also the NPDP carts wich are around $250,- each.
the NPDP console was one of the first real gamecubes but I think it's still DOT
