2nd comment. I would say our sovereignty died after ww2 when we mindlessly supported the USA in its military campaigns starting with the korean war, instead of taking a neutral stance. Our sovereign was partially rehabilitated in 2003 when we refused to join the iraq war but only to be lost again when paul martin came into power.

Trudeau, a pm i didnt always agree with, would have engaged iran and the dprk instead of following the US to sanction them and make russia and china our biz partners to reduce US dependency. Economic Moderate conservative yet socially leftist is what i like. Our parties suck. On socially they r alright but all over the map on economics and foriegn policy. It only means g8. China's economy is growing at 10% this yr, India 8%, Singapore's gdp grew at 35% at the first quarter of 2010. u think the usa isnt sending submarines and fighter jets up north too? think again.

What did he do wrong? Ha, for starters Harper took the surplus inherited and turned it into a deficit. Prorogued parliament the 2nd time without good reason. Cost taxpayers 1 billion dollars for a g20 summit. His decision to eliminate the long census makes it difficult for policy to be crafted based on facts. Took 4 years to visit China, losing out on investments. Built a foreign policy that was too US based and cost Canada its seat on the Security Council this week. I can go on.

I honestly believe George Bush prepared that speech for Stephen Harper. Who the hell cares about Canada other than Canadians and the British?!? People hated the US because of presidents like Bush, not because of "freedom". The world doesn't really hate Canada, they are too quiet. While he was reciting his speech he must have been thinking, "I'm I really saying all of this stupid shit?"

Why have this equipment if you don't have any reason to use it? That just gives more taxpayers a reason to bitch. Also, if Harper and his party is so bad, where are the other parties? Liberals don't have the balls to stop him, NDP are socialist thieves, and the others are too few in number.

NO, we were NOT lied to. The CF had initiated the pullout - in fact, the CF has been caught flat-footed by all this. There's been A LOT of sleepless nights at NDHQ over the change in plans. You don't want to believe it, but it's true. Leaves have been changed, equipment has been packed and now unpacked again - and army equipment isn't very easy to pack and unpack...
