@shopperman2007 Chen Bin (without G) is Chen ZHeng Lei's son, Chen BinG is not, CHen BinG is taller and is Chen Xiao Wang's nephew and student as well.
Chen Bing is NOT CZL's son... Chen Bing is CZL's distance nephew. Chen Bing's brother is CXW's older brother but he didn't practice taiji much. Passed away several years ago. Chen Bing was brought up by his close uncle, Chen Xiaoxing...
Like any pattern, push hands has infinite application. If you cannot see it, rejoice!, for then it means you have the potential for growth.
(Also, a subtle point of Chen Taiji is that application training teaches bad habits, mostly interpretation. An ultimate art is thoughtless and natural, push hands cultivates sensitivity and efficiency. The applications grow by themselves.)
Taiji is done slow soft and over and over again in order to acheave maximum healthy and powerfull movement. through time.Onece the movement is mastered then it's a hole new world.
I understand perfectly what you mean. Most of the so-called Taichi masters can't even defend themselves using the very martial art they teach. Those masters I mentioned in previous post are the few that do (that I know of). I used to live in Houston where Master Cheng and Sitangco teach and I did take lessons from them so I know. Master Sitangco is one guy you don't want to mess with. Master Cheng is getting old but I can tell you that his Taichi Qinna skill is fearsome.
If you have an opportunity to visit any of the schools in the US that I mentioned, you'd see for yourself that the martial aspect of Taichi is still well preserved, i.e., effective and DEADLY. With that being said, it is true that the martial aspect is fading away as most people are only interested in the health aspect of it.
The masters that I named are still around and I can only hope that they can pass it on to the next generation their skills.
The martial aspect is still around. I know a few schools teaching it, e.g., master Cheng Jincai, master Sitangco in Houston, master Goering in Austin, master Jesse Tsao in San Diego.. Just to name a few.
"Fang Song" is the first thing and the most important key which master Chen explained and demonstrated to us at the last few seminars I attended. It may be the hardest concept to fathom for many of us. If one cannot achieve the stage of fang song in a solo form, then it is impossible to achieve the stage in 2-person form. This is a great demonstration of fang son by 2 great masters.
Just in addition: IMHO I think the 2nd most important key is the connection of the whole body (the joints) which let the body moves like a "wave" - and the right body structure.
That is just my present understanding after the years of training.
You can see that point very good in the video clip here.

I don't udnerstand it, but it looks very nice

This is dalu (great rollback), it's a specific set of push hands, not free form sparring.
