I have 1998 Infiniti q45t 4.1L V8 266 hp with 235,850 miles and did in 0-60 time was about 6 seconds. It was amazing for high mileage. This engine is still runs like new and still almost silent V8, no knocking or anything.
Whenever my engine quit, I will put this new 5.6L V8 into my Q45t!
Car and Driver just posted 0-60 in 4.7 and the quarter mile in 13.4 @ 107 mph for the M56S. Nissan's motors tend to really break in after 5,000 or so miles, so I won't be surprised to see some owners getting mid-4's and 13-flat 1/4s out of this machine.
@abo0od1z71 You're correct. I got out my stopwatch and it's 4.2-4.3. Did you know that this car is capable of high-20s gas mileage on the interstate? A moderator on an Infiniti forum that I frequent just took one on a 1,000 mile road trip in the desert. He reported about 28mpg cruising at 75-85 mpg. It's almost painful not being able to afford this car right now!
I would love to see this compared with a Pontiac G8 GXP... this is by far better than the G8. Hey guess what Pontiac? REAL LEATHER! You could learn a lesson or two from the guys at Infiniti...
This video was not sped up. This is the factory power out of the brand new 2011 M56 420HP/417FTLB Torque. Call me, Mark Elwert at 317-750-0413 to order yours today! We have the M37x available as well.
That's astonishingly quick. I have to say, this new M is one of very few new cars that I'm really excited about. With most redesigns resulting in uglier and heavier cars, Infiniti takes the opposite route and hits one out of the park!
Assuming the video timing is accurate, I'm getting about 4.75 seconds on a stopwatch from the time the RPMs begin rising to the time the needle hits 60. Impressive stuff, and I believe right up there with the outgoing M5. Aside from the bat-shit insane E63 AMG, I can't think of a faster sedan. :)
Yeah the RS6 and 760i should be able to beat this, but it's still impressive if the video's not sped up. You'd expect it to be this fast given the specs.
@lekocaj23 Are you certain? Because Edmunds got a .1 sec quicker quarter mile out of the M56 and a 2.4 mph higher trap speed, which is pretty significant. That right there tells me that all 420 hp are present and perhaps the transmission programming is keeping it somewhat in check at launch (perhaps to reduce "unrefined" wheelspin?). =)
@lekocaj23 I'll take your word for it! I know that German cars tend to be underrated, and that BMW's FI engines are particularly silly in this regard. :)
Damn i want a M37Xs soooo bad!
