  • Simply create ad hoc network on your computer, turn on wi-fi on the ipod, link to your ad hoc network, go to control panel on computer, network connections, pick local connection, allow internet access, done. Used this with my ipod 4g and it works great. able to access itunes, facebook, safari, etc. I don't know about Android products.

  • awwwwww U ever so cute :)

    luv ja

although.. dont make excuses.. and make it for Win 7 as well as frigging Vista.. U know.. I have MORE than JUST 1 laptop..

  • @Valhalla003 yeah well you rich girl... but i only possess with 1 lappie... :( maybe if you sponsor me... ;)

  • @macadux No, if she is a rick girl, than she could pay $31 a month for internet!

  • @Valhalla003 Try Maxidix Wifi Suite for Windows 7, Vista. It help to create and manage any ad hoc connection. Also it provides auto connections at Windows Vista, 7, because it is unable to make automatic ad hoc connection since Vista, and making your ad hoc each time Windows starts is really annoying.

  • Oh my gosh is works!!!! Thank you! :)

  • Thx dude it helps!!!!

  • ok lets see if i can get it finally working now.....

  • I love this work around but it's limited to wired connection sharing. What if you go somewhere and there is no cable?

  • @paktamcyber well then you'd connect to the available wifi directly... if no wifi, then i'd use my mobile internet or wouldn't use internet at all obviously... :)

  • I don;t have the option for wireless network under network connections

  • i have windows 7.. it dosent have that sytuff:(

  • It Worked... Thanks bro! im too happy right now =] no homo!

  • i dont have the check box in advance how do i get it??

  • @Theperfectme1 try "Learn More about Internet Connection Sharing" and the "Network Setup Wizard" blue underlined links in the Advanced tab

  • i dont have that slot under fire wall i only have fire wall on that page =(

  • thank you so much!

  • I have found the problem and solved it. You need to turn off the firewall so u can use it in Ur iPod touch or any device even ps3 wii n xbox

  • when the wifi sign comes on my ipod its useless cus when i go on safari it says safari cannot open page because it is not connected to the internet god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i'm running windows 7 here, and i am at a loss...

  • @godofchaos606 well i don't have windows 7 yet, so your best option would be just google it out with a phrase like: "windows 7 ad hoc wifi"

  • when i connect to it on my ipod it says its connected, then i go to safari then it says it cant connect to the internet plzz help

  • @demetriusr please read through the comment replies i made earlier, hard to say what could be wrong in your case (firewall settings = try switching it off, or try to setup adhoc wifi on a different laptop/pc and so on...)

  • Anyone know if I can get internet on my ipod at home without wifi but with a cable instead?

  • @Searchinganswers Try to google for: "iphone usb tethering". It should be possible somehow...

  • @Searchinganswers i'm afraid it is impossible since iDevice can only connect to the internet via wifi.

  • I owe you a great deal of gratitude because you saved me about a hundred buck purchasing a router. It was easy to follow and even though the screen got a little wonky at times I was able to follow your voice. I love forward to your next post! Oh and PS guys... I have no clue what I'm doing on the computer and today I felt like and expert!

  • What's the point to connect your iPhone/iPod/iPad to Adhoc network you've just created? iPhone/iPod/iPad have built-in wireless receivers, right? Then they're able to connect directly to the Wi-Fi spot skipping your 'private' network. Here I saw only one plus to use Adhoc and this is the speed of your home network. I mean if the other not owned by you Wi-Fi spots are locked or the internet is awful there. For me personally there's no other point to use Adhoc.

  • @fakaras99 Not everybody has a wi-fi spot at home or at any place they currently are (many hotel rooms have a cable)

  • @pemoke For me there's no point to have internet on your iDevice if you have laptop with you. You're right but I still don't see the point of this.

  • @fakaras99 what if i want to download/test/use my iDevice and need the internet where no wi-fi spot exists, don't wanna use my mobile net plan and only have my laptop connected to the internet through the cable?

you see, not all Apps that run on iPhone, Android and such devices run on the laptop ;) and many of those Apps are data hungry... lot of people have found the need to get an ad-hoc connection now and then, so then there is a need. ;)

  • also wud it help if i set a static ip adress?

  • @bigbigd2 @zelcko1 Guys, you need to identify where the problem could lie by trial & error. Whether it is your PC (Windows) setup, or your Internet provider (they may block connection sharing to more than 1 device) or if it's not fault in iPhone.

    I would try:

    1. the static IP address (google: adhoc with static IP address)

    2. try adhoc setup on a different (friend's) PC/laptop in your home

    3. try adhoc setup on your PC/laptop at friend's/office/cafe

All of above with friend's iPhone/iPod Touch.

  • @macadux ok ill fool around with it some more. i tired to connect with my mac ibook and could connect to the network but no internet. i also setup an adhoc on the mac and it did the same thing as the winxp machine.

  • ive tried it and it still doesnt let me on... even tried the things that u did with LeafNin93 there...i have tried other ways to still nothing. any thing else that cud be the probelm??

  • Hi

Ive done everything youve showed and it says on my ipod that i am connected to the wirelss network

but when i try to go on the internet on my ipod it doesnt work

    do you know the problem?

  • You are genius. thanks a lot..

  • I love u mein!! It finally works! Only thing that boggles me is .....ahh why did itt work last night without me doing this? Very helpful tutorial though. May God's love be with u brother :) walk well.

  • Thanks Much

  • i dont have a drop down box on the local area connection properties-advance. help me...

  • @LeafNin93 Try just just with checkbox "Allow other network users to connect" on (Apply/OK) and/or click "Local area..." + ctrl + click "Wireless..." < when both selected right click and "Bridge connections"

  • @macadux it worked thanks man!!!

  • @macadux i have a problem again it worked for like a week and it suddenly stopped working...

  • @LeafNin93 it is windows problem most likely... try adding a new adhoc with a new name (and delete the old).

  • thanks so much man this works
