@joschigirl22 You can't expect as a teacher, a parent, or a listener that a child of ten would understand what the piece means. Right now the child is exercizing performance skills he's going to need for when he DOES understand pieces like this. The point is not at all the feeling, but the fact that he got up there to play at all.

The main problem that I see with this kid, like every kid prodigy who can play stuff like this at such a young age is that it sounds flat. I get the feeling he's only playing it, and not truly understanding what the piece means, it doesn't flow from him, it's too stiffly learned. That, and he really needs to work on his intonation.

It's always easier to criticize other's performance. He is a 10 years kid and is not exaggerated during play. He is very good. We don't have to always compare cello players with Yoyo Ma or Du Pre.
