  • Sorry for my ignorance, but what does the compresor? I barely heard the difference. Can anyone help me to figure out what it does to the tone?

  • @Andromelian as far as i know, it doesn't effect the tone, its not that kind of pedal, it just keeps the volume for every note hit the EXACT same volume so there aren't any spikes in sound just in case you play a little louder or softer then you should have

  • is this good for acoustic-electric guitars?

  • Anyone compare the Barber Tone Press to the Diamond Compressor? Those two are the ones that interest me the most....

  • By default the trim pot inside is turned all the way up. So pulling it back will take some top end off.. I use it all the way up on gtr..but I use it rolled back a bit when tracking bass with the Tone press into a Linden EQ.

  • Only problem is..You didn't level match. On that last part between on/off.

The Tone Press Unity gain is between 2:30 and 3:00.

The way you left it @ noon makes the unit sound smaller when you engage it.

  • @Faderjockey I noticed the same thing.

  • @MrCoenE very true...i own one...you need to place it on about 2 o clock to get an equal output level

  • Came here to check out the pedal, now I want to learn some of these licks.

  • I am thinking that a part of compressing the signal is to provide sustain in addition to providing an even pick attack. Just my guess. You are a good player

  • Not to be critical but why do you play so much stacatto when demonstrating a SUSTAIN pedal?

    Know what I mean?

  • Perhaps you don't understand what a compressor actually does... your reasoning suggests that this is also a volume pedal.

  • seems like it adds some treble and cuts some volume. still a pretty much flawless compressor

  • @popomczowzow with a higher volume setting (the demo has noon setting) the barber tone press could boost your signal! You could adjust the amount of treble boost or cut (vintage style) with an internal trim pot.

  • @underwoodblog I know, I GOT ONE!

  • the best!

  • this one or the pigtronic??

  • I prefer the philosopher's tone because i think it is more versatile then this one with the knob "grit"

  • My favorite compressor !!

  • @JimmyJames902 mine too, and i've tested lots of compressors!

  • Awesome finger stylin'
