  • Thanks for your great responses, Kerry! I will try the mushrooms, too. Thanks also for the specific brands on the supplements. I will get those tomorrow. The vet says she only has 4-6 months to live, but I swear, after her breakfast and dinner today, she acted like a crazy little puppy. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!

  • Hi,

Thank you so much for this recipe. My sweet Ruby had her first bowl this morning and keeps staring at the counter for more. You mentioned the Omega 3's are important, but didn't if I was to give those. Is this in a fish oil? Thanks so much!!!! I'll keep you posted on her progress!

  • @kburnat1 YAY for Ruby!!! So awesome :) Diego nearly tackles me to get him food faster now that I home cook it. And I SWEAR he looks and acts as if he is two yrs old again, when the chemo isnt making him tired. So... Omega 3s are an oil that can be derived from fish, yes. I use K9 Omega by Aloha Medicinals. Diego is now 36lbs, so I use 2 capsules a day and I poke them with a knife, then squirt the oil on his breakfast.

  • @kburnat1 I recently talked to two top radiologist and oncologist here in town and they suggest n-3 oil, which is derived from algae, not fish. From what I understand, this can lower the chance of there being metals in the oil, as many people are worried about now with fish. You can get a very affordable over the counter at our local CVS store (the CVS generic brand) for $13 or something. It is time released I believe.

  • @kburnat1 It is one of the ones this oncologist recommended to me. I will be switching over to that once my omega 3s are finished. I also take omega 3s myself and will switch over to the n3s. Sidenote... I now add about a cup of mushrooms to Diego Secret Doggie Sauce. And I have just started to put in fresh parsley(handful chopped) and a few cloves of garlic. When I cook a batch I make about 5 days worth and freeze half of it so it doesnt sit for 5 days.Keep us posted on Ruby! hugs, Kerry

  • @kburnat1 Don't forget to put in the Seaweed Calcium powder (1tsp per pound of meat) after the big crockpot of food has cooked and cooled down. The brand I use is by Animal Essentials. hugs, Kerry and Diego.

  • @kburnat1 Karen... I suggest to everyone to look into Aloha Medicinals at their K9Immunity and Transfer Factor products. Very helpful when the dogs are going through treatments, but I will keep Diego on these for a very long time if not foreve at this point. There are a ton of great testimonials and info on their site as well.

  • HI! He is still in full remission and feeling good. We have moved to chemo every two weeks, versus every week, so that gives us a bit of a break. We had to look into two lumps last week, but they were just fatty bumps. He is loving his home-cooked meals and morning beach walks. I swear he looks younger than when we started on this healing journey. I am a bit nervous for him to get off the chemo if that is what is keeping him in remission, but need to just keep doing my best. HOW ARE YOU???

  • Hi Kerry!

Just dropping by to see how Diego is doing with his treatment.

  • No, I havent heard anything about it...

  • kerry have you heard of a product called Bark is Good ? there is a upload on youtube called Best anti cancer treatment for dogs-fast acting ? There isnt much in the way of testimonials on their website or anything like that..

  • Best wishes for Diego....this was a helpful recipe kerry thanks...

One question, can the meant just be lean ? or does it need to be super lean

  • @NightClubc You know I wasnt told specifics on lean or not. A friend of mine just told me that when she does the recipe her holistic vet gave her, she uses 16oz each of turkey, beef, and pork. She doesnt use chicken as she needs to feed her dog cooling foods according to her chinese holistic vet. I switch it up, one week I use turkey, one chicken, one beef, etc.

  • @NightClubc How's the pooch???

  • @kerrytepedino hi kerry..She is doing good, her coat looks great since i started giving her fish oils, and extra vitamins, she feels good ,the only thing is since chemo started i have weighed her and she has lost 2 kgs of weight in about 5 weeks..i am giving her some extra proteins and fats ...

  • @NightClubc yes, diego lost 7 pounds. he lost it right away. we have since stabilized his weight and he hasnt lost anything in about 6-7 weeks. I simply gave him a bit bigger portions of his homecooked meals that have the right ratio of protein/fat/carb. if your dog is on prednisone, then he/she will be ravenous... or think they are. this is simply the drug. after you complete the drug, he will think he needs to eat that much still, but he really doesnt. he may gain too much weight at that point

  • @kerrytepedino i see ,thanks a lot kerry...She finished the prednisone today, and can eat enough for 3- 4 pets if i let her...she isnt gulping down the water as she used to,she looks like she has stabled in that area, her next treatment is in 2 weeks, but she looks fantastic actually, the other day she out run me down the street, she was having a great time..

  • @NightClubc YAY! happiness is a fabulous natural medicine for our little friends. :)

  • I'm glad to see Diego is doing fine :]

Yesterday I discovered that may dog -may- have lymphoma, if not that then it is an infection.

I'm glad to see that after giving her antibiotics it feels like the fatty tumors have gotten a tiny bit smaller and became much less firm.

Are there any tips you could give to someone who is clueless what to do at a time like this?

I'll be getting the test results this Friday.

    Good luck Diego :]

  • @bleedingxxaurora I m so sorry you are dealing with this. YES! there is so much you can do for your little friend in the meantime. Definitely watch the video I did on how to be an emotional support for your pet. It is at my site, kerrytepedino, and is titled "You Are An Emotional Sponge" What type of nutrition does your pet get?

  • @kerrytepedino

It's okay, I just got the call that she indeed does have lymphoma, it's pretty heartbreaking.

I saw that video and it did help quite a bit, we feed our dogs Cesar dog food, and their snacks vary but are always the type that support healthy joints and / or teeth.

I just purchased K9 immunity but until I get it, I'd like to do whatever I possibly can.

  • @bleedingxxaurora I am not sure what Cesar dog food has in it but what I have been studying is that many of the kibble foods have excessive fillers, such as corn and grains. This is not a good diet for our dogs... nor people, which is one reason that obesity has gotten out of control... processed foods are ridden with excessive corn, certain grains, and sugar that our bodies dont need. I suggest looking at the ingredients and try the recipe in the video. Diego is 40lbs and I make a new batch

  • @bleedingxxaurora ... new batch about every 5-6 days. Also, I am not putting any flea chemicals on his little bod anymore. I got an herbal flea collar by PetsGuard that has essential oils of citronella, lavender, calendula, and more. It seems to be working. And I made a spritzer of witch hazel, lemongrass, and eucalyptus that I spray on him and rub into his fur.

  • @kerrytepedino

So I'm finally going crock pot shopping!

Which kind would you recommend for this?

  • @bleedingxxaurora A basic crockpot will do. Doesnt have to be fancy at all. They are pretty cheap and seem to be pretty sturdy. I turn mine on before I go to bed so it is ready in the morning. It is pretty warm at that point, so I let the food cool down before serving. I will take out one portion size and put it in the freezer for a bit before feeding it to Diego for breakfast.

  • @bleedingxxaurora There are different ways that lymphoma occurs: environmental, genetics, nutrition... best we do what we can. Make sure if your pet is outside, that he/she is not eating any of the weed killers, pesticides, antifreeze on the asphalt (I read this tastes sweet to them), etc.

  • @kerrytepedino

I really appreciate all of this, I honestly do.

Yeah, I just checked the ingredients and I think I'm going to go ahead and switch over to another meal choice, it contained quite a bit of carbs and wheat gluten, flour, etc.

I'm definitely going to give your recipe a shot, not quite sure if we have a crock-pot, but I'll go ahead and look for any other recipes that can be cooked in other ways.

I've also heard of pet owners adding fishoil / sunflower oil.

  • @bleedingxxaurora crockpots are cheap... it is worth buying one. fish oil is great. I am also looking into DHA (600 milligrams a day) which I think is from an algae source. An oncologist just told me it is even better than fish.

  • @kerrytepedino hows the pup doing?
