  • @lllatomill thanks...i have been messing around with audiomulch for about nine months or so...ill post some of my mashups I just haven't gotten the time to post them...ill reply to one of your videos so you can hear them.

  • what is that drum sample around 2:23..before face down..

  • @smakjak10 cool kids - i mikey

  • bro this is so sick. I even had to put this on my ipod, nice work

  • fucking insane!!!

  • Thanks, also real quick what is the instrumental that starts at 0.18?

  • ti - what you know about that

  • Quick couple of questions, what is the instrumental that starts at 2.26. Also as a new user to audiomulch I was wondering how you get all your files in the .wav format for audiomulch, do you download them as .wav files or simply convert .mp3 files to the .wav format (if so which conversion program do you use). Keep up the good work.

  • I believe the instrumental is kiss me thru the phone by soulja boy. I obtain the source samples in mp3 format and convert to wav using Amadeus Pro (or any wav editor for that matter).

  • sounds very girl talk influenced (a good thing) .. i really want to start mashing songs but have no experience, what programs do you recommend besides audiomulch? Adobe audition would be good but its costly, i was thinking of getting audacity because its free then if i get really into it ill upgrade later to audition

  • @leeroy629. This particular video was intended to sound like Girl Talk. Someone told me that it was nearly impossible to do what he does. This is a loose adaptation to mimic him.

You should look into Ableton Live. It's pretty sweet and a lot of artists are using it right now. Girl Talk uses Audiomulch in a unique, but simple way. Very clever...but Ableton Live is better suited in my opinion for making these kinds of tracks. Of course...everyone has a preference :)

  • @lllatomlll can you make an ableton tutorial? I have it, but it's really confusing to me. I want to make an album length mix, but can't figure out how to manipulate anything. The only other tutorials online are TERRIBLE

  • @happygaper

If you are referring to the first "synth beat" he used "T.I. - What You Know"

    Hope that helps!

  • What is the first synth sample the you used?

  • Synth? ha it's been awhile since i made this...I think it was 3 oh 3 dont trust me.

  • @lllatomlll I mean the one that comes in at like :18 seconds. One of the very first samples.

  • oh that's T.I. - What You Know About That

  • i experimented with a compressor and found that it sounds really pro, especially in the crossfades, when you connect everything through it to sound out. I believe GT doesn't use one, but it really helps.

  • Thanks for the tip! I will definitely try to use one. Not sure why I haven't yet!

  • hey it sounds really good. I'm just wondering how you made loops that were just vocals. In other words, how did you separate the vocals out of songs so that you could use them in AM?

  • Almost all of the samples, for the most part, are taken from studio acapellas or instrumentals released by the artists. There may be some DIY acapellas in there too. I don't separate anything myself...lack of knowledge and I think DIY really brings down the quality if it's not done right.

  • so it looks like on the left you have all your loops and mixers + gains divided by set, so do you just scroll down as you go through your music? and does it just stay on the same tempo the whole time? -- thanks!

  • Yeah I group then in sets of 8 usually. The mixers are not necessary but I like to have the option to adjust the gain on the fly. I lay out my samples in the order I want to play them an just scroll down. It's always the same tempo unless you manually adjust it as you go.

  • I just wanted to comment, there are plenty of terrible tutorials on youtube and all the ones you have done on Audiomulch are excellent and super helpful.

I find the hardest part of all of it is really just finding loops/hooks/instrumentals/acapellas that mix well together. The actual production concept is very simple.

  • Thanks! I appreciate the kind words.

I couldn't have said it better...trying to come up with great complimenting samples is the hardest part. It could not get much simpler with firing them off once you pick them out. Thanks for the comment. I'd love to hear anything you make..

  • Oh man, you could throw a mad mad mad party

  • I was wondering...couls you please post out all the music samples youre using(not the acapellas)?

    thanks bro

  • I was wondering, is this all automation or are you doing this live? How would you start a new set live, or trigger two mutes at the same time?

  • this particular video was created using automation. if you were doing it live, you have to click 2 mute buttons before the next bar is up! it can be a little exhausting...depends on your set.

  • is that what girl talk does?

  • ya he just queues up all the samples and manually triggers them on and off. it's pretty impressive that he can do it for 45+ minutes without misfiring too much.

  • it really helps using a calculator if your using wierd speeds

  • calculator for what? I don't time shift any samples before coming into AM. I group samples together based on number of bars and overall tempo.

at the time I made this video I just threw it all together. I'm OK with pitch change!

  • does AM not auto-calculate the tempo of the songs?

  • No, it doesn't. I don't think there are any plans for that either. Ableton does this nicely, however.

  • I just want to say thank you for posting all these videos. I've watched every one of them and they helped me so much.

I was wondering if there's any way you can send me a list of samples/loops you used in this video. I'm trying to get into using audiomulch for my DJng. I would appreciate it so much.

Thank you! Your videos are amazing!

  • how to you start and stop (unmute and mute) multiple tracks at one time in live mode? cause its impossible for me to drop 3 tracks to start up a new one at one time. is there as shortcut?

  • no...no shortcut. using the mute/unmute buttons its nearly impossible. you would have to do it so fast....or your overall tempo would have to be fairly small. slower your tempo, the more time you have to click around before the next bar.

i suppose you could, in theory, unmute 3 loopplayers and run them through a mixer. turn the gain down all the way on the mixer and when you need all 3 to come in turn the game all the way up.

this is one of the bigger disadvantages of audiomulch...

  • hmm i guess girl talk doesnt do that live. thanks though

  • also, sometimes my a cappella vocal tracks dont line up correctly, anyway to fix that?

  • if you pay attention to how the samples come in/out with a live girl talk set, he triggers them typically 1-2 at a time. you won't find many examples where he controls 3 to come in at once. and by that i mean all 3 come in on the start of 1 bar.

if your vocal tracks don't line up, either adjust your phase or cut your samples differently.

  • thanks for all the help, but 1 last thign sorry haha.

i was playing with the phase button, but i cant exactly figure out what it means. help?

    thanks again.

  • Phase shuffles the sample forward or backwards relative to the clock in semiquaver increments

by increasing/decreasing the phase...you can alter at what position the sample starts playing.

  • lllatomlll,

Great job on the tutorials, question for you what is the instrumental underneath Kelis at the end? Thanks man

  • thanks. the ending is jt - sexy back and it then goes into new soul by yael naim.

  • how or where do u just the vocals of songs?

  • just search on google...

  • so for this mix your using automation?

  • Yup exactly. Doing it on the fly is more fun, but for a polished track automation is the way to go.

  • can you post a tutorial on what you are doing to trigger this long mashup and how you set it up?

  • I put up a brief tutorial on this. Search for audiomulch automation or go into my channel and you will find it listed.

  • Tutorial has been uploaded...please see the links in the description box.

  • Hi there. Thanks for the tutorial. It was very helpful.

There's just one thing I really need to learn, which is how to trigger the samples at a certain time. I know you can mute and unmute them, but this doesn't trigger them, just unmutes it from whatever point the sample was at.

Any chance you could do a tutorial on Automation, as I'm having great trouble figuring out how you get a sample to automatically start at a certain point in the song?

  • 1. Right click on the loopplayer contraption

    2. Select Parameter Controls

    3. Under LoopPlayer_X tree, select Mute

    4. Check off Automate. Close out of this window.

    5. Make sure you have Automation showing (View>>Automation)

    6. Click along the LoopPlayer_X.Mute timeline to place checkpoints when you want the sample to mute/unmute.

  • Hi. Thanks for the reply.

I've done this, but this only mutes/unmutes the part, rather than starting from the beginning of the sample

Let's say. for example, I want an acapella to come in 30 seconds into the track. The acapella is 40 seconds long, so if I use Automation to unmute it at 30 seconds in, it's going to start 30 seconds into the acapella, but I want it to start from 0 seconds. Do you see what I mean?

  • There is no option for samples to start at the beginning, unfortunately. You will have to adjust for this by increasing/decreasing the phase to modify when the sample starts.

  • Ok. Thanks a lot for all the help and the speedy responses! Just putting a mix together on there now.

Ooo one more thing. I've just bought a USB mixer. Is there any way this can be used with Audiomulch as a midi controller?

  • Are you going to post a tutorial?

  • Yes. I have already created a basic tutorial. I uploaded it to youtube but the quality was terrible...still working on getting a good upload.

  • Looking forward to it

  • I bet this is a terribly annoying question for you, but I'm a total noob to this software. How exactly do you trigger loops at certain times?

  • all you have to do is toggle the mute button. i will be making a tutorial very soon.

  • Really? You must be counting all the beats or something. I'll definitely check out the tutorial, when you make it.

  • lol i hope u dont mind me asking yet another question, but.... Ok so I made a few samples of songs in adobe audition and they loop fine in there however, when i play one or more loops in audiomulch there is about a half a second or second silence before it starts up again. I tried messing with the BMP and the barcount but cant get it. is this something i just have to mess with or is there an easier way?

  • Make sure you are using the LoopPlayer contraption and you have "stretch" marked off for all of them.

Make sure there is no silence in your source sample file.

  • lol, second question. How do you adjust the volume on certain loop players?

  • You could do a couple different things.

    1. Feed your loop player contraptions through a mixer and that will have separate volume controls

    2. Insert a stereo gain contraption after the loop and you can manually adjust the gain here too.

  • hey atom, first of all, great mashup! i recently got audiomulch and i was wondering how you synced them. do you do that in audiomulch or do you do that in a different program such as adobe audition?

    Thanks!

  • Thanks. The loop player contraptions will automatically sync up so long as the "stretch" checkbox is enabled in Audiomulch. All the loops will play at the same BPM.

  • What's the beat that's layered under the 3OH!3, Rich Boy, Boston and Weezer samples?

  • mims - move

  • Thanks, man. :)

  • Where did you get these loops?

  • I made them myself.

  • i'd like to here more too!! tutorial would be greatly appreciated!

  • you should think about making a tutorial it'd be very helpfull

  • i probably won't go as far as making a tutorial, but if anyone has specific questions feel free to ask. once you figure out how 2 samples go together, you soon realize how insanely simple this all is.

  • Actually, could you please make a tutorial? Ha ha... Not to be pushy. This video seems kinda messed up... like the video portion doesn't change at all. And I don't quite understand how to use Audiomulch for this... and nobody really shows you how to do this...

  • i didn't make a video for this. This is just a screenshot of audiomulch...better than a blank screen? i'll think about creating a tutorial though..need to find out the best software to do it

  • better than a blank screen, but misleading :(

  • Girl Talk is the Shit bro well done. Quick question do you sample them yourself on adobe premiere or do you download the samples?

  • i cut everything up on my own. most of the time it is straightforward--cut at the beginning, cut at the end, save.

  • SHIT IS FIRE!!!!

  • [slow clap] Well done. I'd like to hear more!

  • What sample is the beat leading up to Lil Wayne and Weezer?

  • Right before 4:00 It's 'Don't Trust Me' by 30H!3
