Obama absolutely has a say in these things, just as he has a say in where our tax dollars are spent, such as spending tax dollars on renovating soldiers field football stadium. This money would have been better spent on Chicago's inner city schools where kids are missing little things like keyboards for computers. These kids don't have half of the tools that the suburban kids do.
Obama, while you have been Illinois senator the cost of gas (4-homes) has gone up almost 30%, electric bills have gone up almost 30%, phone bills have gone up almost 30%. While you were supposed to be at work- working for us, you were on Oprah promoting your book. In Illinois, cars older than 95 are no longer required to test emissions, Chicago schools are in severely poor condition, and the list goes on. If you can't handle the job of senator, why should anyone vote for you?
He doesn't have a say in those things, he goes to Washington and represents Illinois in the Sentate. Personally, I blame the governor. I thought he would be a great democratic governor, and he has enacted a lot of great humanitarian programs like universal child health care and universal preschool, but he acts like a republican when he won't raise taxes. I really fear the CTA and Pace will make cuts because the budget those guys in Springfield came up with had no new money for transportation.
As a resident of Illinois, I am aggravated that Obama voted to spend our tax dollars on rebuilding a football stadium instead of spending the money on schools like Chicago's inner city, where kids are missing things like keyboards for their computers. Sure he created union jobs, but only temporarily until the project was finished. Education is what is missing, not a remodeled football stadium, supporting a sport that pays it's players millions of dollars every year.
