@BigRamifications@Matt35382 I Couldn't find a DVD on Ebay or Amazon, but I did find a VHS copy. I bought it, and wil see if I can get it transfered. Watched it twice the day I got it. I liked it even better this time than when I first saw it. And by the way, I read all the stuff on john Howard. LMFAO Too bad it can't happen in America. Thanks guys!
Back in the day, this song was on the soundtrack to a movie about a pot-head that signed with Collingwood. And to this day I'm still a Collingwood supporter, I don't remember the name of the movie. I saw it on HBO, and was my introduction to Aussie Rules. Does anybody remember the name of the movie? I'm wondering if it's available on DVD.
Roy Cazaly played 198 games and kicked 167 goals he played 99 games for St. Kilda and kicked 38 goals and he played 99 games for South Melbourne (now Sydney Swans) and kicked 129 goals
The title of this song is an Australian sporting catchphrase inspired by former St. Kilda and South Melbourne great Roy Cazaly ("Up there Cazaly was "a phrase that would be shouted by team mate Fred "Skeeter" Fleiter when he wanted Cazaly to go for a mark). The expression later became the basis of a song recorded and composed by Two Man Band (Mike Brady & Peter Sullivan.
Richond !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have heaps of membership badges from my dad , the loyality still remains I have very good memories of the club , we did live across the road for a while :)
if you don't know this song you don't belong in our country. it is not only an afl anthem it is an australian anthem. this is one of two afl song's the other being holy grail by hunters and collectors every afl support can sing and won't have a go at each other we will join together and start singing no matter who we support cause it unites us. it is absolutly appaluing that neither of those songs where played at last years grand final. afl lift your game.
@Kaffyboy We're talking teams with a long and proud history here, not flashes in the pan teams with a piddly little army of fans who squeal, wet their pants and still don't know the rules. Oh, did I mention that I HATE BRISBANE?
@blueandrewblue You hate Brisbane? I don't give a fuck! They kick arse pal. I bet you go for some piss ante team that the Lions have beaten this year huh?! Wanker!
I live in the USA. This is my first to see and hear this song. Now I want to move to Australia. When I save up enough money I am moving to Australia!! Mmmmm Australians.
I live in Sydney but I remember this ad from my childhood and how it made me feel like there was nothing I couldn't do. Seeing it again now is no different - it conjures such powerful emotions and makes me a little sad that a bygone era has passed and that the world is indeed a worse place now than what it was. Those really were the good old days.
Greatest lyrics EVER for a Footy song and sums up our great game perfectly. Great Stuff.
"Now theres a lot more things to football than really meets the eye, there are days when you could give it up there are days when you could cry, You either love or hate it depending on the score but when your team run out or they kick a goal hows the MIGHTY ROAR"!!!!
Lol tough guy, wouldn't mind seeing our "fagget shit" players up against you, you would undoubtedly crap yourself up against the likes of B Hall or J Brown in anything "manly".
That was awesome. I'm n Aussie expat (Melbourne born) who left at a very young age with plans to someday go back as part of a second honeymoon with my wife. I'll not consider my trip complete without trip to the famous Cricket Grounds to see some AFL action! Thanks for posting!!!
i took my australian born wife to a grand final in 1998 when the adelaide crows won back to back and when this song was playing tears welled up in her baby blue eyes and she sang along with a passion in her voice as i held her hand. i am orignally from ireland and i sang this song when the hawthorn hawks won six premierships including back to back from 1978-1991. aussie rules football is awesome and a true australian treasure. it really is the backbone of our culture.
@ti54vw32 I can't help but cry when I read this. Because of this comment I have been prescribed with Mirtazapine and am on suicide watch. Such Passion.
What a shame that this cant ever be our national anthem than that squishy, soppy piece of utter maudlin shit which we have now. Who, for Christs sake, ever uses the word 'girt'?

@cardman330 The pot-head's name was John Howard. He's chubbed out HEAPS, but he still acts, pretty sure he was on a recent ABC soapie.
He also famously apologised to the Australian Aborigines. Geddit?! John Howard. Said he would never... but he did... Woah. Controversy.
"The Club" contains one of the funniest lines ever: "He's been up his mum and his legless sister, and he thinks he's killed his old man!"
