I think for sure his license should be suspended, pending a psych. evaluation, but putting a schizophrenic in a regular prison can be dangerous for prison workers, other inmates and himself, so any time served should be in a mental health facility.
Anti-psychotic meds would likely impair his ability to drive, so he needs a career change now.
So the guy is Schizophrenic. Give the guy some Meds and a 6 Months in Jail. You can't punish a guy that has no control over his own mind. Let alone he's unstable.
