In fairness, I think the Scars block was spectacular and Innistrad is pretty fun... but I also think the core sets are ridiculous these days! They're more like "BUY WINS!" sets now... no more reason to celebrate Core Sets these days...
you're forgetting that as time passes the player base changes and new people appear who never played in the older editions, I started playing seriously @ Lorwyn and so far it has stood head and shoulders above the rest as my favourite set.
By repeating set concepts every so often they allow new players to enjoy old styles.
(not that i think for a minute that it's a deliberate decision by them, I'm just pointing out that some good comes from their limited imagination)
Days of olde are gone with frikken m10. Yea imma sit down and relearn it all but still, this is just ridiculous. look how much they used to care and the stuff theyre just spitting at us now. -_-
I think what bugs me, is when they start what could be an awesome block. Like Mirrodin's first two parts were amazing and interesting, then you get Fifth Dawn, what the crap?! After that you get Kamigawa, which was a blatent rip off of Onslaught. So they try to make up for it with Ravnica and TimeSpiral which did real well, but when they try to go back to the classic look and feel with Lorawin, everyones like, Yawn. They've set to high a bar. Its only a matter of time before they crash you know?
Lorwyn was a balanced set, but agreed, it's only a matter of time, plus Lorwyn was more of a ripoff the Onslaught, but both are pritty guilty, but hell, the idea of having a samurai deck was pritty cool. Either way I hope I'm not too invested into the game when the crash happens.
Yeah, they were balanced. But they were nothing we hadn't seen before. I guess what bugs me, is that Magic is one of the greatest card games of all time, and they don't try to make it more personal with the players. Yugioh, Poke'mon, they have fun characters most kids can relate to on some level, that go on adventures. You ever read a magic book? Every character is the same as the last band of heros, And every buddy dies at the end but like two people. Every time.
All my dreams came true.

Is that bold man is Kamahl?
I think that was a really good time in history of Magic, Odyssey is a very interesting block, play him is very funny.

This was great! I wish they made animated trailers like this and the Ravnica one again.

It's because of Hasbro. They watered down Magic.
