  • Should have tazed them first. Since their arms were all locked together, you probably could have gotten quite a few with one zap.

  • "Democracy" fed us with more vegetables in Barcelona Spain.

  • that son of a bitch should be held down n every single one of them kids shud pepper spray his ass in the face back that sorry ass mother fucker . he needs to rot n burn in hell fucking prick

  • @DeeJayCoUrTnEii

Grow up and speak like a big boy. Perhaps your lack of education and that of the entire group of critics here can be the excuse for the extreme irrationalism. Besides, I could see from your spelling, grammar and use of expletives, that you are either Black and a racist authority hating individual, or an idiot. Same difference!

  • And the 'Officers' punishment is PAID LEAVE !

  • @S0Iari yes

  • The argument that people should leave the sidewalk to walk through the mob on the lawn is wrong. That's the exact same thing as someone stepping in your way every time you walk down the sidewalk and telling you to walk on a lawn or in the street through their gang. Then claiming freedom of speech as their argument.

  • Nice strategy on victimizing yourselves, fuckin hippies.

  • Actos criminales de la policia globalizados, vease como reprimen a los estudiantes de Chile y en toda latinoamerica.

  • chemical warefare on citizens peacefully protesting.

  • Who won? Blondie, not Tuco.

  • working people support occupy-teamsters ,electirical unions ,teachers, firefirefighters, police, plumbers, elctrical, labores union, we are in solidarity with occupy WORKERS WHO WORK HARD SUPPORT THIS MOVEMENT!!!!!!!!

  • Alright wannabe hippies! You've had your fifteen minutes of fame being arrested of YouTube, now go get a job!

  • no wonder America and the rest of the capitalist world is in trouble. I mean, look at the comments on here of all those people supporting the facists.. The students were doing nothing wrong and they were non-violent. I bet you all would have condemned Ghandi and MLK too and they (along with thousands of supporters) did much more inflammatory things than these were doing. The police didnt have to do that, they werent obstructing anything (they could've been easily walked round as the crowd shows)

  • Yes we camp! Build up a global network too big to ignore..a true anti austerity resistance movement by and for ALL the people..one for all!

  • wow, I did not expect the ending of this video but believe me I am so proud of those students! The police knew they were wrong. Those students (no matter who's side your on) did not deserved to get pepper sprayed like that. There is no arguement in the world that would satisfy me to make me believe that they deserved to be sprayed. They did not deserve it. It really disturbed me watching them get sprayed like that. Traumatizing for sure.

  • These vermin lib ingrates evidently didn't get enough attention from mommy and daddy.....A real good ass whippin' once and a while when they acted-up as kids, would have gone a long way in prevented this anarchy non-sense.....snap! snap!

  • Liberalism is clearly a mental disorder, and if we keep punishing the cops for doing their job, they will quit doing it altogether, you asses! If my two sons were in that loony tune conga-line, setting on there butts after an order from police to disperse; I would have personally went down there and kicked both of their asses, then I would have made them wash and polish the cop car in front of those other ingrates standing around cheering-on this liberal trash. You too vermin lib news media!

  • I support the students getting pepper sprayed. These individuals were

blocking the sidewalk seeking a confrontation. They got precisely what

they were entitled to. Remember students, without law and order we have

    anarchy. You didn''t know that?

  • The cop is under lawful orders to remove the squatters, and according to established police training, is permitted to escalate his level of force to one level higher than the force the squatters are using to prevent the arrest.

This includes the use of pepper spray. If you look at the POST certification training that all modern American police forces use, the use of non-lethal force, including and especially pepper spray, is extremely low on the ladder of methods they are permitted to use.

  • I am implying that squatters need to be removed. Squatters have never been permitted in the U.S. until now. I don't care what the motivation is of the squatters, the facts are that squatters are infringing upon the private and public property rights of others.

They were ordered to move, and they didn't. They resisted when they resorted to the human arm lock chain. The intent of the human arm lock chain is to force the police to resort to force to break the squatters apart.

  • Those students (squatters?) were in fact resisting arrest by using their human armlock tactic. They were squatting/trespassing, and when ordered to decamp, resorted to a human armlock chain. This is, in fact, resistance.

It requires force to break this resistance, and the cops do in fact, have a procedure to break this resistance...and that involves pepper spray, prior to using batons. Fortunately, batons were not necessary.

  • @cowboyguns

Wrong. The use of violence can only be justified if protestors pose a direct threat. Quite obviously they dont.

  • @Lammy2k

The LEGAL use of force can and most likely will be used when the correction of illegal acts are addressed towards a non-compliant or resistant party.

These students cannot block this public access point. It also ultimately violates the rights of citizens that attend school there who are not involved in the protest.

Try this technique next time you don't agree with a speeding ticket! Then give me a call and I will try to bail you out of jail. Might be a few hours though ;)

  • @Lammy2k

Wrong. Protesters that block access to university classrooms, quads, government buildings, hospitals, prisons, nuclear power plants, bus stations, airports are all handled the same way, with reasonable force. Pepper spray saves taxpayers millions of dollars in needless injuries to protesters and police officers that would otherwise be admitted to hospital rooms if the parties engaged in hand to hand combat. It is insane to argue otherwise. The police were justified, pure and simple

  • Get fired? They need a good old fashioned...

  • Cops in all-out Gestapo RIOT GEAR -- for 11, get that! -- 11 STUDENTS (aka, kids) sitting on the ground, locked arm in arm, PASSIVELY PROTESTING tuition hikes that have seen their UC Irvine fees go up from about $6,000 per year in 2005, to $13k per year now, PLUS another 81 PERCENT HIKE forecasted within the next FOUR YEARS, to bring it up to $23k!!! CLOSING EDUCATION'S DOORS to students is Fascist behavior IF EVER THERE WAS, and so appropriately BACKED by FASCIST, Jack-booted Police behavior!

  • @Ashkii63

There have been incidents when the police were not prepared when responding to a protest. There have been many injuries as a result. Better to have and not need than need and not have.

Besides, their initial presence is an assumed use-of-force. The riot gear can imply that they are prepared to remove the students that were illegally protesting. If you noticed, the protesters that were simply standing around yelling and chanting were not approached or arrested by the police.

  • dirtycops.info I hope those cops got fired, because im sure that wasn't proper arresting procedure. HA 2:35-257 look at his smile and his obviation

  • Mike check!

  • ithought it was a right to have freedom of speech but yett some gett s punished for itt woooow thts crazii

  • good job to the police for doing their job!!! and for the ones that don't follow orders ...there you go. and really "shame on you" lol tools, hard to believe that is a college.

  • @locashsteve Fuck you. Read the first Amendment you uneducated fuck.

  • @hussein335 fuck you faggot...your ass needs pepper sprayed shit dick.

  • @locashsteve Please, learn how to type properly and make more sense dip-shit.

  • @hussein335 ok..thank you

  • Yep this is the world we live in, where its against the law to fight peacefully for whats right & to fight against what is wrong! WOW! >:-(

  • Firefighters=Hero's

    Cops=Worthless ego-driven douche bags

  • @StangDGB

Grow up! They have a conduct a dangerous job that no one wants to do. Like you have never made a mistake before? You should walk a mile in those shoes before you arm chair quarterback this issue. Disobeying the law is not protected by the freedom of speech. Now, when I identify and declare you as an idiot, my expression is protected under the first amendment.

  • @MrPapabear111

    Wrong.

    1. What are you implying? Because being a cop can be a tough job, they should not be responsible for their acting?

    2. Non-Violent protest is not a criminal act.

  • @Lammy2k

Thank you for being respectful when replying.

    1. No. They should. I will clarify. The police appear to have followed policy as well as the orders from their superiors. Chain of command dictates action. Not the fault of this officer.

    2. You are correct and non-violent protest is constitutionally protected. However, blocking a public egress or ingress is illegal. They were given the opportunity to move and refused to comply.

  • @MrPapabear111

Meaning a door way or a pinch point. not a sidewalk where all you have to do is go around....Idiot

  • @Lammy2k

I disagree. There is nothing non violent about blocking my access to class, and disrupting my classes. Take your noise protests out to a public park or private cow pasture. Shame on these protesters for never reading the court decisions that have ruled the use of pepper spray is perfectly reasonable to affectuate an arrest. Maybe you think billy clubs would have been more humane.

  • " US Constitution, Amendment 1: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

  • Have cops forgotten that there are cameras EVERYWHERE? fucking douche bags abusing their powers... this is exactly why I changed my major... there's no way I could associate myself with POS' like these guys

  • @pbernard309

The cameras clearly prove the police were in the right, using reasonable force to effectuate an arrest of lawbreakers who used locking arms to prevent arrest. There is no way I could ever associate myself with people who hide behind the First Amendment to block access to students at a university. Everyone one arrested here should be held liable for the cost of the police and the damages to the students who did not make it to class or were disrupted by the unlawful assembly.

  • I think I wrote a couple of years ago that it was just a matter of time before the Police (protecting & serving unit of our government) began to silence the voices of the people. Now I predict it is just a matter of time that the Rights to Peacefully protest and gather that are obviously being taken away will lead, just as it did in the late 1700's, end with a Revolution. And I hope I am around to give 100% to the side of the people when that Real Revolution begins.

  • @resculptit

The people's voices were not silenced. This was a deliberate act denying other people their freedom and nothing less than a publicity stunt of the radical left. They were warned of pepper spray and resisted arrest. They had a right to get a permit, or find another location, but instead, they chose pepper spray. They will get the same thing from me the next time they block my entrance to class. The cops only saved me the $20 can of spray. The protesters got off super easy.

  • American citizens protesting peacefully and this is how they are treated by the police? Shouldn't they be protecting them? I'm afraid things will become really violent if the police don't knock it off! This is not Egypt or Iran, but it could easily become that way!

  • @TheNova1960

Those students were NOT "peaceful protesters". It was NOT protest! They were interfering with police officers performing their duty. That is why the police action was appropriate and justifiable.

The police had already arrested three people and were attempting to move them. Other students were interfering with those police officers in performing that duty. It is not up to those students to decide whether those arrests were legitimate or not. That is up to a court to decide.

  • @krag30 It just came on the "wire" that at least two police officers have been suspended due to pepper spraying the students!

  • @TheNova1960

No, they have not been "suspended". Actually, two UC Davis police officers are on paid administrative leave while a "task force of students, faculty and staff completes a 30-day investigation of what happened."

If the use of force rules/guidelines for the UC Davis police department allowed them to use pepper-spray as a compliance tool, then there is an excellent chance that no disciplinary action will be taken. Won't that twist some knickers out there?

  • @krag30 I totally disagree! They were sitting arm in arm they did not threaten the police or stop them from making arrests. The police officers had NO RIGHT to spray these young students in the face at point blank range! You may not agree with the students, but the police were out of line and should be suspended!

  • @Independentsrock Wrong. Using pepper spray seems so excessive, and was that much pepper spray really neccessary?

  • @o0Megii0o

You weren't there. Talk to the students. The protesters resisted arrest and were warned pepper spray was going to be used for five minutes. They sat there and asked for it. They were under arrest, blocked access to the quad, and did this for publicity purposes. Please don't be conned by these protesters. Maybe you would have wanted billy clubs used so the other students could get to class? It's a university of higher learning, not a public park. The cops will be exonerated.

  • @Independentsrock

You are correct! Why can't anyone else look at this logically?

  • @Independentsrock so as long as i warn you, i am justified to do with you as i please? obviously they did this for publicity purposes, and they made their point too.

  • @joethemagnifcent

Where is the world did you get the idea you can do whatever you please as long as you warn me? This was a public relations disaster for the radical left. It exposed them for who and what they are, thugs who are Hell bent on denying me access to an education I paid for with my own money, not Obama's stash. The cops saved me the trouble of kicking the crap out of these protesters who don't know how to secure a permit from the university and let others use the quad. Justified?

  • @krag30 Really? Not peaceful? They were sitting down with arms linked -- how is that in ANY manner "not peaceful"? They were peaceably using their right to assemble and their right to protest. The police were out of line. You're a flaming ass if you think that was "justifiable" in ANY manner.

  • @placidair

You don't have to swing your arm at a police officer to be violent. If you run from an officer, he has to use force to bring you down and the courts have ruled this reasonable. If you lock your arms with your friends to avoid arrest, pepper spray and even a Tazer is reasonable to insure the cop is not injured unnecessarily. Do people realize how much it costs for a cop to go out on disability if he throws his back out wresting with protesters? Do you? There is no money 4 games.

  • wow - these cops need to get their fucken asses whooped!! protestors r just sitting there yet they are pepper spraying them,, really? fucken police brutality,, wish this whole country does actually go into a huge riot.... INJUSTICE!!!!

  • OMG! The are not BEAR!

  • From the Washington Post:

"Charles J. Kelly, a former Baltimore Police Department lieutenant who wrote the department’s use of force guidelines, said pepper spray is a “compliance tool” that can be used on subjects who do not resist..."

Kelly also said “What I’m looking at is fairly standard police procedure” after viewing a video of the incident.

Go to the Washington Post website and read the whole article. Youtube will not let me post a link.

  • @krag30 Then "standard police procedure" needs to be changed. There is no excuse for chemical assault on someone who is non-violent,. How about the police "comply" with the Constitution -- aren't they supposed to be sworn to "serve and protect" -- not assault?

That you're trying to justify this speaks volumes as to your own character -- or lack thereof.

  • @placidair

For you to suggest I miss class because these protesters block my access to class as their right under the First Amendment to the Constitution show me you have no character and no understanding of the Constitution. Our freedoms have limits and the courts have ruled what they are. Thank you to the police for protecting my right to get to class that I have paid for by working my ass off. No telling what the protesters might have done if not for the character of the cops & supervisors

  • Protesting is a way to promote change.

Voting is only a small way to help change... minimal.

Its like walking into to McDonald's and going up to the cashier saying," Hey could you pass along a message to The CEO of McDonald's or even Ronald McDonald himself, and ask him to stop deep frying his fries with leftovers of tummy tucks? k thnkas."

That emploee would gladly say, "for sure, will do" bt you rknow it never gets passed along

  • I see trees of green, red roses too. I see them bloom, for me and you. And I think to myself, what a wonderful world. I see skies of blue, And clouds of white. The bright blessed day, The dark sacred night. And I think to myself, What a wonderful world. The colors of the rainbow, So pretty in the sky. Are also on the faces, Of people going by, I see friends shaking hands. Saying, "How do you do?" They're really saying, "I love you".

  • When a officer of the law says move, you move. If you don't like it, vote to change the law. The vast majority of Americans stand with the police officers. These young brainwashed Marxists have a right to protest but this is not how you do it. The have a right to be heard but never to disobey a police officer. This never happened at the Tea Party Protests and the whole world heard our voice in the media and at the polls! And in 2012 we will be heard again but louder.

  • @theuspatriot3000 The TEA PARTY PROTESTS???????

"Oh Buffy , Get Jeeves here to hold my protest sign whilst I park the Bentley... and send out for some scones and Tea....... XXXXDDDDDDDD! Tiz to Laugh! ... Wake Up ! Your A Rich Funded Lobby Group. There IS a difference.

  • @theuspatriot3000 -- ROFLMAO! OWS is a grassroots movement -- that's why it's found so threatening. TP (appropriate initials if you ask me), was a well-funded propaganda machine for the powers that be -- of course they didn't find them threatening and send out the assault officers.

And the police do not have the right to order someone to vacate their rights out of convenience to the cops -- the police are not the law, nor are they outside of it or above it..... it applies to all.

  • @theuspatriot3000

by that logic we would be british

  • @StangDGB You should stick your face in front of a teargas canister launcher next time a cop says get beck! Please do it for me! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • My paintball gun is better then thers!...PIGs

  • When the parents finally show up with guns to protect their kids from these bastards no one will blame them. If you want to set off a civil war this is how its done. Push and push and push until we can't take it any more.

  • I love seeing my fellow Americans pushing back at every turn. This will only grow and rightfully so. Its time for the people to make some demands and get the govts attention. The cops spray our kids at school for protesting and we are out in the streets in the city right now getting the same. Time for some action. We will not go away and the govt will be corrected.

  • @spearonez What are you going to correct? And i dont want to hear problems, there are plenty of those in the world, I would like to hear a solution.

  • @Shatnr124 try this, type it in google.or you tube "RSA Animate - Crises of Capitalism"

also check this out Google "The New Scientist- Revealed – the capitalist network that runs the world"

This will give you an idea of the size of the problem, Solutions will come over time and there is NO bandaid solutions, It's global and everyone has their own story/issues (even you)

  • Great job you understand that its not against the law to sit down and not move.... Only when you do it on a road way where police and others cars cant get by. They are asking for it and the police did nothing wrong. If you don't like the police then don't break the law.... Its works for me and MILLIONS of others

  • @Shatnr124 and when they (the cops) break the law? what then?

  • @ignatzRat I hate dirty cops as much as the next person. But there is a fine line between doing their jobs and breaking the law and this is not it. I have gone every day of my life and not been pepper sprayed, these people made their choice.

  • @Shatnr124 In Canada we are having problems with cops being above the law from the g20 (an independent panel stated the police acted illegally), In Quebec the police sent in their own men to incite riots in Montebello ( cops admitted doing so) or the the Victoria police covering up a brutal attack and Vancouver Police claiming no wrong doing till the Calgary Police pressed charges.) But the Van Hockey Riots the cops should have kicked MORE ass (difference of sports/politics riot handling)

  • time to wake up people...don't let this bastard stop you. freedom was given by our Creator all this pigs are serving the Antchrist

  • time to kill too. Pigs need to die

  • fuck the government and these pigs
