I've forgotten what Murray Gusseck originally named it. But apparently the inspiration for this came from a Mantronix track that was a remixed version of Reich's Drumming. We've referred to it as Reich since MSU started playing it in 2004.
its not the original version of Reich's "Drumming" there's a whole album where Mantronix remixed Reich's pieces. "Drumming" happened to be one of them, and it sounds EXACTLY like this.
The Santa Clara Vanguard drum and Bugle corps were the first to perform this. This drumline arrangement was from a Mantronix track that was inspired by Reich's Drumming. I would google Santa Clara Vanguard to look for an audio track of the drumline.
Can most of these players also play pitched perc?
