I wanted to point out that under the statute of frauds, verbal offers and counter-offers on real property are not generally enforceable, and are treated as negotiations....so I wouldn't feel comfortable with their verbal counter-offer until it was backed by writing.
HOLY COW I can't believe i just spent 4:41 of my time watching this. Bob, honestly is this supposed to be a joke? Let me see if I understand: "I pulled up and saw a sign that says verbal offers considered so I called and made one over the phone and the guy (who is busy and knew not to waste his time) gave me the code and NOW I'm a professional real estate investor." Please.....PLEASE!!!!...The FDIC would have certainly asked for Proof of Funds when pen hit paper - PERIOD. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah the continuation of the story is that somebody else overpaid by $100k and bought the house. Ultimately the FDIC was asking waaaay too much and didn't want to budge on price.
Yeah no problem. Try OCN, FID, NDE- or 8590 too. Even better, if you know your stuff, get a set of keys like me that will get you into 80% of all REO's. It took me 2 months to get the set and its about 30 keys but I don't even try lockbox codes anymore. Of course I'm probably full of crap and don't know what I'm talking about.
Did you get the house??
