  • HI Joyce! I'm so happy you're finding my videos useful. That puts a big 'ol smile on my face! Yes M'am you can. Now, I'll be honest with you and tell you that I've only ever tried this with metallic silver and gold, but not sure if it will work with your basic colors. Worth giving it a shot! :)

  • bellooooooooooooo, me encanta!!!

  • Absolutely gorgeousness!! You've got real talent, thankyou for sharing it with us. <333

  • You are very kind! Thank you for taking the time to watch! :)

  • This is a work of art. May I ask how you did the ruffled look with like and dark blue around the base of the cake. It looks beautiful.

  • Thank you so much! I simply took a wrinkled up paper towel and dabbed dark blue gel food coloring around the bottom. Super easy to do! :) Glad you liked this cake! :)

  • @laurapoopie I appreciate your reply. You made it sound like its really easy, but I am sure it takes a lot of skill and its a awesome effect on the cake and I was thinking over and over how did you manage to get that look on the cake. You are truly talented. Thanks for sharing your secret. I bake cakes and enjoy trying different techniques, you can check them out on face book if you are interested - search name on FB is Pradeep Gnanaprakasam. Do you have a website or a photo album of your cakes?

  • You are very welcome! I'm glad you ike my work! Yes, i do have a FB. If you visit my channel, you'll find the links there to all my FB pages. Let's be friends! :)

i like the color very much.

  • Thank you SO MUCH! I'm glad you liked it! :0)

  • you said airbrushed right... this may seem kinda ignorant but how do you do that??.. o_o you still used food coloring right?

  • Haha! That's ok. Airbrushing needs an actual airbrush gun with a compressor. The food coloring is in liquid form that sprays out of the gun. :0)

  • were do u get the fondant from ?

  • There are several websites where you can purchase it online. I usually buy mine from globalsugarcraft.

  • Oh, I love it so much.. Really, really I love it! So i've decided to try to make it for my birthday, in september.. Just I don't know all the ingredients.. can you tell me them? *_* Pleeeease!

  • Thank you SO MUCH! I used homemade marshmallow fondant for this cake. My friend Mayen here on youtube has an awesome tutorial on how to make it. This was actually the last time I ever made it. Now, I only use Satin Ice fondant because of time constraints. You will find her on my friends list. Her youtube ID is a # that starts with 915. I don't remember the exact ingredients which is why I think it would be a GREAT idea for you to check out her video. Glad you liked my cake! Thank you! :0)

  • @laurapoopie So thx! From Italy :D

  • speechless.........i love ittttt!!!!!

  • Thank you so much! :)

  • The sponge effect is really lovely!

  • Thank you! :)

  • hi laura

I watch a video the other day, about making fondant with MM, you talk about making gumpaste from the MM fondant, and now I´m asking HOW??

  • You mix tylose powder with the fondant, just like you would regular fondant to make gumpaste. :)

  • hi Laura

can you give me your marshmellow recipe please

    love it

also what spray gun do you use, i am thinking of buying one after making cakes for over 20 years lol seems like the way forward x

    regards Kay

  • Hi Kay, I use Mayen's MMF recipe. She has two awesome videos on her page that show you step by step how to make it. I sometime refer back to it. She is on my friends list if you cannot find her and I think I might have fovorited thos videos on my page. :) I use a very cheap cheap cheap airbrush my Dad gave me. Don't even know the brand to be honest but I HIGHLY recommend a KopyKake airbrush. In fact, I'm FINALLY going to buy me one THIS week! :)

  • I have used this recipe to, I love mayen's work she is very talented as are you.

Did you know that you can put melted chocolate into the melted marshmellows and then carry on with the recipe i have done this and have made chocolate fondant works really well

I have looked at the kopykake but as i am in the uk its very expensive for shipping

will have to save up lol

I use Regal Ice if I want a really smooth finish tends not to wrinkle like elephant skin don't know if you have that in the us

  • Thank you! :) Wow! I'll have to try making my own chocolate fondnat one day! That's great! How much choc do you put in it? I've never heard of Regal Ice but now I'm gonna look for it here in the US so that I can try it out. :) I get TONS of elephant skin with Satin Ice but it's the best I've tasted thus far. Will try the Regal Ice though! :)

  • as i never measure anything bad i know i usually put in a small bag of chocolate buttons melted of course or half a bar of chocolate

not very helpful i know, basically i put in a bit and see how it is

    your know yourself

Tate and lyle do a fondant sugar that is okish just add water to the sugar or choc colours etc

    x

  • Haha! You're like me Kay! I don't measure that well! LOL! :)

  • nice.. your amazing

  • Thanks girl! You're awesome! :)

  • Hi What is Tylose?

  • HI! Tylose is a powder (you can buy at your local cake supply store) that you mix with fondant and you can make your own gumpaste. :)

  • your cake is so pretty

  • Thank you so much! :)

  • You're welcome, and thanks again<3

  • Love the cake<3

It looks like tentacle's from an octopus, and the sweet wheel thing, look like a helm.

Sorry if my english is bad.

  • Thank you so much sweetie! You English is FANTASTIC! :)

  • MM Fondant is WONDERFUL! It's cheap to make and tastes great!! How did you turn it into Gumpaste though??

I've always been confused as to what the difference between Fondant and Gumpaste is.

  • Just knead it with tylose. Same way you would regular fondant. :)

  • iv'e never heard of or seen marshmallow fondant here in the uk..whats it like and what does it consist of, wouldn't mind giving it a go if its cheaper lol! Your cake looks beautiful i really like the mottled effect with the darker blue at the base, really takes it to a whole new dimension

    ; P

  • Marshamallow fondant is basically melted marshamallows mixed with powdered sugar. Super easy to make! It can get a little messy but it's fun to make. :) It is WAY cheaper than buying fondant. I'm so happy you liked this cake! Thank you so much! :)

  • Practice cake my butt this is beautiful. and you gave it to your neighbor. you should have given it to your class. it looks kinda of sciency.lol

  • Haha! Thank you! You're right I should've! Right now would've been the perfect time because we just started our "Universe" topic! :)

  • Laura, that cake is sooooo gorgeous! Margaret's style sure looks amazing. Thank you for sharing and keep up the great work!!!!

  • THANK YOU! :) So glad you liked it! :)

  • I love it. The cake is so girly!

Mayen's mm fondant is great! I have never had to purchase cause of her. Thanks Mayen.

  • this is so beautiful cake laura. i love margaret''s style too. you did great job.!!!

  • Thank you! :) I'm so happy you liked it! :)

  • lol

  • LOL! :)

  • LOL! Thank you! I gave it to my neighbor and he was like, "oh, thanks".... :(

  • your are one great student! congrat

  • Thank you! :)

  • hi Laura, very cute and elegant. I like it like for a mermaid on top. So if i can airbrush then i dont really have to color the fondant? the special paint for airbrush is from what store? and ofcoarse its eatable, right?? Make a video on how you made the mickey playhouse 'monitos' please!!!

  • Hi Karina! I'm so happy you liked it! :) Right, you don't need to color the fondant if you're gonna airbrush! :) Isn't that cool? There are tons of places you can buy your airbrush colors. I got mine at KopyKake (online). Yes, it is edible. If I ever make anymore Disney figurines, I'll be sure to video tape it ok?! Thanks! :)

  • I'm very intrigued by your sponging technique. A paper towel you say? Did you apply the color first then dab it off with the paper towel or did you dip the towel in the color and apply with it? I really really want to try that technique!

  • Yes, a paper towel! :) I airbrushed the entire cake blue and before the paint dried I took a dry paper towel and crumpled it up and just blotted all the way around the bottom of each tier. Super simple! :)

  • Nice color combination! Pretty! I think it's cool that people step out of their "comfort zone" now and then.

What do you attach the gum paste to the fondant with? Does it hold up as well, being attached to the airbrushing on the cake? Do you do anything differently because of the airbrush finish?

    BOP

  • Thanks BOP! :) I use edible glue to attach the gumpaste to the fondant. And I haven't had any problem with anything not sticking because of the airbrushing. :) Glad you liked the cake! :)

  • you are a very artistic and creative person laura! i love your work.where do you buy your airbrush and your colors? Also, how did you learn to use the airbrush?

  • Hi Arielbelle! Thanks so much for the compliment! Actually, the airbrushes I have were given to me by my Dad and my little brother. One is an inexpensive one purchased long ago at a craft store and the other one is a rather unknown brand . They're both quite good but am REALLY wanting to buy me a KopyKake airbrush. It has been HIGHLY recommended to me by several professional decorators. The colors are Kopy Kake Kroma Colors and the metallic colors are from AmeriColor. They're awesome! :)

  • I love this cake, quite different! great job

  • Thank you Nivia! :)

  • hey Laura you did a very expectation job with that cake. idk but i sorta brings to mind like a combo of a beautiful night and something nautical. Thumbs up on the mmf i'm try to get that of my list but for some reason i can't get it right ill keep try maybe for my up coming cake this weekend and once again me encanto ur cake

  • Thanks Jessi! :) Try the mm fondant again. It will work! Good luck! :)

  • How do you stack your cakes?!!!!!!!!! I want to make a stacked one really badly!!!! lol

  • Not very difficult. :) You should head on over to tonedna's page and check out her video on how to stack cakes. It's a very easy tutorial to follow. :)

  • This is the cake you were talking about!? I LOVE IT! This is so creative, Laurapep! What kind of tool did you use for the swirls? It's really cool! I love it, Laurapep. :) Lylas!

  • Thanks Karpep! Glad you liked it! I made the swirls by hand. They were really easy to make! :)

  • this is beautiful laura! :D

    x

  • Thanks xgeeeez! :)

  • I cant believe how much detailed work you've done on this cake!!! Its's just fabolous!! I love the sponge effect you put at the bottom on the cake...the pearl sheen color is just awesome...it did wonders on how your cake looked like...id like to try that later... GREAT JOB again Laura, i love everything on it!

  • Thank you Amy!!! I had so much fun decorating this cake! :)

  • Love the cake as always...you know my friend and I tried making the MMF that Mayen shows in her video but it wasn't pliable...but I am not giving up I will try it again until it comes out right...your cake looks amazing I especially love the sponge effect

  • I guess the trick with the MM fondant is to not necessarily stick to the exact recipe. The area and temp. in which you live has A LOT to do with it. I'm in the middle of the Chihuahua desert so I used different amounts of the ingredients. You just gotta kinda feel your way through it, know what i mean? It'll work! Just play around with it! ;) Me da gusto que te gusto el pastel! ;)

  • Ahem! AWESOME Laura. As I guessed I would see some influence of Margaret Braun you lived to my expectation. I love the internsity of the blue color.Very electric blue. Loved ur piping, you are inspiring me to make something like this.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

  • Thank you Purbasha! So happy you liked it! You should try it if you're inspired because it's actually easier than it looks! :) So much fun to make! :)

  • WOW! Those details are gorgeous! The cake reminds me of Moroccan/Indian/Middle eastern art and architecture. I love love love the overall ambiance! This will definitely please anyone who has an expensive taste. This is very luxurious, Laura! You also did a great job on the sponge effect -- It gave the cake some hues while the silver against the blue gave it an expensive, delicate aura.

Once again, you totally nailed it!

By the way, CONGRATULATIONS with MMF.

    Keep them coming =]

    Rylan

  • Thank you Rylan!!!! I got that Moroccan/Indian/Middle easter vibe as well! I'm so happy you got that too!!!! :)

  • ooooh I love the sponge affect. You did a really good job on your pipping work. You should of used cake dummies so you can keep it and show it off. I'm still jealous that I don't have an air brush!

  • Thanks! :) I have to buy me some cake dummies because I really would have loved to keep that cake! I took tons of pics though! I ended up giving the cake to my neighbors... :) Get yourself an airbrush girl! You won't regret it! You can get a quality used one on ebay! ;)

  • cool cake love the blue.... work it girl

  • Haha! Workin' it! Workin' it! Thank you! :)

  • Awesome vid!!!

  • Thank you! :)

  • BRAVO Laura !!! Amazing for your first mm fondant ! I love all the artsy elements here... i need to get that book too :) I need to take piping classes !!!! Thanks for the shoutout :)

  • Thanks Mayen! I'm so happy about the mm fondant! (as you well know). You'll love the book amiga! :)

  • Its beautiful! I love it so much! Good job, good practice too, and inspiring (for me anyway)!

Glad you did MM Fondant, it is great. Ive been doing that because I cant afford real stuff. And as with everything it just takes practice, but you did amazing for your first time to work out so well!

Where do your purchase all your supplies? (ie: americolor and tylose) And also, I noticed you painting in the video... do you prefer to paint the pieces on the cake or before you attach them?

  • Thanks Tiffanie! I just sent you an e-mail! ;)

  • LoL, I just LOVE Margaret Braun - she's such a nut ^.^ A true artist. This cake is a color fantasy!

  • Thanks! Oooooooh... I like that! Color fantasty... AWESOME! Glad you liked it! Yeah, Margaret Braun is a nut! She rocks!

  • Oh, I had to laugh at the "gigantic defect" because I get varying degrees of those all the time!

  • LOL! That's hilarious! Yeah, in my case they're either GIGANTIC or GINORMOUS! They're never ever tiny! ;)

  • That's really nice! I love those colors!

  • Thank you! :)
