I do agree on the stitch you are making not being an actual triple crochet. I think it is wonderful to make your own stitches, but please give them their own name so as not to be confusing to others.

Keeping in mind that new stitches come from people experimenting with what they make. However don't forget that the craft must have clear cut guidelines or it will not work. Just give your stitches a new name and teach them to others rather then trying to teach them as regular stitches. Thanks

don't you have to do three loose stitchen when starting triples because otherwise you will end up with one loop of yarn as big as three stitches or with a triple pulled down by the previous single stitch!?

a triple crochet does require that you yarn over (yo) first

TJW1963 has the best crochet tutorials, she explains everything and she does some of her vids in slow motion. She has a couple of video tutorials on how to make a beanie. I've learned a lot from her videos.

You say crochet through the stitch but it looks like your crocheting through the space. And for a beginners vid I still haven't seen you tell how to end one row and start the next.

Ohh, to make a new row chain 1 for SC, 2 for HDC, 3 for DC and 4 for Treble is what is generally used in order to give stitches their full height.

right, the triple crochet i know is to yarn over 3 times and work through both loops twice until the last loop. ??!! maybe a different variation with the same name?
