@PrsFenderJackson1980 - You can use any smooth surface such as a kettlebell or basketball hoop pole. See our "Anchoring Your Battling Rope" for more info and tips. Hope that helps!
wow, thats pretty neat. i just read about this stuff on my kettlebell group forum and was curious about it. looks like a great workout. guess i need to go down to the docks and borrow me a rope lol.
I find it interesting that you two gentlemen made comments like this considering there are countless world class athletes using this system from NFL teams, Olympic athletes, top MMA fighters and many special forces units, not to mention that it is starting to used by many of your own Military elite in Australia.
John gave these exercises to my Martial Arts instructor Charlie Lysak who had me try them at his house. It's a heck of a workout for sure. Definitely couldn't do them as well as John and that other guy were doing them though. Cool vid.

The Battling ropes has multiple systems.
1. The Velocity or Wave method (Sustained power & explosiveness)
2. The strength method (Multi Plain strength)
3. The Pole system (muscular & cardiovascular endurance)
You can read more at martial arts combat training or battling ropes training.

It says it introduces you to two new elements? I've never trained with the ropes, what are they?

Anyone who says it's not exercise has just never tried it. It's as challenging as any other kind of resistance training.

Can't wait to get some battle ropes for myself one day. They really look like a good way to increase grip strength and over all explosive power !
