  • Awesome tone you got there, great job!

  • @Gurra162 Thanks man!

  • Can you make a lesson and show the solo?

  • @POWERPEDALSSE you got it man I was kinda already thinking that -

  • steve why did they block your fool for your stockings cover? it was so damn good!!! think you can post it again?

  • @damp1234567898765432 Hey brother thanks for the comment - who knows on the block - but yah I will re-do the fool vid soon!

  • Dude, this is just great. I'm impressed with this tone you got. Keep up the good work! Would be nice to see some more ZZ videos from you )

  • Also, this sound on 2:09 - is it you or backup song? Can't understand how to do it, maybe you can help a bit?)

  • @JuliaMarvel Yes there are two pinched harmonics at 2:09 - I think there is only one on the recording at 2:09 - so that's me if it doesn't sound good, and if it does, well that's Billy!

  • @JuliaMarvel Thank you - and yes I may do some more - and hopefully they won't be blocked -

  • Click. This has been added to your favorites!!!

  • Outstanding job. Love that solo, one of the best rock solos & grooves ever.

  • @rbjax thank you -

  • Awesome job! I just started learning this song, man do I have a lot of work to do ! Deguello is one of my all time favorite albums.

  • @jerzeedoug Thanks man! Deguello is a classic -

  • Awesome, I was driving home from an upstate NY fishing and did some recording with ZZ Top in the back ground. Though I would find this song and try to learn it, this fellow is a tough act to follow.

Everything about this video is perfect, The guitar is one o the nicest I've ever laid eyes on.

  • @brimis820 yes great gibson les paul gold but i like the gibson explorer this is my fav guitar with the fender strat and the les paul of course and the gibson SG like tony iommi from black sabbath used to play it

  • @coolengine2000 all great guitars!

  • @brimis820 thanks brother! There are some mistakes here - so don't worry about perfection, just have fun with it - and thanks, my guitar she is a keeper.

  • killer man! you getting that real open midrange tone as he does- Great job capturing his attitude also !

  • @dougrmoe Thanks alot brother -

  • You absol nailed this Steve. Sweet playing indeed.

    NIce axe as well.

  • @deadluvva thanks man!

  • Hey DirtySteve, no problems! :) I allways like to praise when I see a truly good guitar player, with a nice setup (however, it's not often :)). Not only does your guitar sounds exceptional - unlike most today's Les Pauls - but you also play like a pro, with articulate chops and very good timing. The song seems simple at first glance, but many "shredders" would fall down after only few seconds of playing it. :)

These 2 guys that gave thumbs down, must have been plain jelaous. lol

  • Whatta killer sound!!!! This is too damn good! Today's LPs don't sound nearly close to this.

    Good luck with your playing!

  • Real Nice. Good video for learning Billy's little suttle riffs in-between 1/2 chords and so forth. Its like Mr. Gibbons writes his songs so 1 guitar cxan get away with playing live (but of course his studio stuff is loaded with overdubs).

Jimmy Page on the other hand, well, we all know how Zep sounds live, awefull!

  • Unreal cover sounded identical, solo and everything

  • @hoebag55 thanks brother!

  • That's pretty impressive, DirtySteve! Checked out your page...man, all your ZZ stuff is dead-on accurate. How you figured all those Gibbons half-chord voicings is beyond me. I know it must have taken lots of work on your part. Thanks for sharing and educating us man.

  • wow you play great guitar , checked out two of your videos keep rocking

  • Thanks for the get back. I put a few upgrades on my Sg. Orange drop caps, cts pots, tonepros bridge and tailpiece. It's as close to a customshop as you can get. I want to drop the PG's in my Traditional LP. I dropped BB's 1and 2 in the Sg and it sounded to sterile. No body or richness. The 57' s are the best so far in the SG. Your guitar is the holy grail man. Have you seen zz's cover of "Dust My Broom?? Pearly's tone is heaven. Happy Holidays man...................

  • Mine is a historic custom shop LPR-7..so a later Burstbucker too.. I've thought about trying the PGs and I think they would sound wicked in your SG, but let me ask around too and I'll get back to you on this.

  • that is grand man, What kind of pups are in you LP??

  • @4937645 hey thanks man. Those are '57 reissue Burstbuckers -

  • @DirtySteve232 Thanks for the pup info. I thought i heard of all the burstbucker family members. 1,2,3, pro.Is your LP a custom shop?? I own a LP Traditional. I love 57' classics, but I have them in my SG Standard. So I thinking about dropping a set of pearly gates. Being a Billy F. Gibbons fanatic as you are, Do you think it would work? Thanks............

  • Sick gold top man!

  • @efeola thank you brother -

  • @DirtySteve232 You got major talent man, keep jammin, you actually did this justice!

  • @efeola thanks alot brother -

  • how did you figure out how to play that? there's no way that was all done by ear.

  • @aflockofmusic2 just C Minor pentatonic -

  • @greendayrocks32 thanks man!

  • That was badass man, never have I ever heard any body play that as well as billy gibbons.

  • @silvertone19 thank you!

  • You play really good, the song would sound better if played on a Fender Blues Junior, but you have to mod it first.

  • HEY WHAT AMP ARE YOU USING TO GET THAT SOUND

  • @txrooster61 Peavey JSX w/5150 cabs

  • HEY WHAT KIND OF AMP ARE YOU USING IN THIS VIDEO I LIKE THE SOUND OF YOUR SETUP

  • @txrooster61 thanks man - I'm using a Peavey JSX on the overdrive channel with 5150 cabinets. I also used a bit of Boss reverb on this one.

  • very nice!

  • Great job, brother! Spot on.

  • Great :

  • Nice! One of my fav ZZT tunes. Excellent job!

  • I thought I could play this song..I was wrong,thanks for posting this,great camera work too...now I'll get busy

    ub

  • I guess your a huge ZZ Top fan, you do awsom guitar work, thanks for the videos.

Best video i have seen hands down, except for seening ZZ top live

can you do Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers and post it on video for us?

keep up the good work. thanks Bobby

  • @MrBtrap thanks for the kind words brother - yes I do love ZZ Top and Billy G has always inspired me. I will put Beer Drinkers on the list! Thx again -

  • A big help! Thank you. I'm about half way there now.

  • very tasty!

  • good playing man!!! should be smoking a jay!!! :D

  • Damn fine job. I need to learn to play this song.

  • @omfg51 thanks man - it's a fun one

  • Good looking Gold Top. What year is it? Nice job, BTW!

  • @rockinredneck57 It's a '57 reissue from '02

  • man i cant believe how many unbeleivable guitarists there are one youtube, it would just kill my dreams if i was a little kid that wanted to be a rockstar

  • SUPERB!!! This song is bad to the bone and no F***ing around. Blues at its finest. Great job!!!

  • @BOGATA9 thanks brother -

  • nice

  • I Hope you have a band you play with... your good. thanks for the enjoyment

  • Well executed,. finess on the frett board. Congratulations....

  • i think he's playing a 5150 amp, i can see one in the background beside his other guitar

  • Good right hand

  • Could I ask what kind of amp you used, or is that part of your secret stash so nobody can copy you? I'm big on marshalls myself, and that ZZ top tone is the stuff for me. It falls right into that same midrange chunky crunch like early Jimmy Page tone. It's the stuff that evolves into that really bity high end scraping sound you find in late marshall era's like Van Halen's shrill brown sound, or Slash's similar alnico pro II humbuckers through the jcm 800 I know his was modded from Appetite

  • @pollywoggle24 Sure man - no secrets here - I am using a Peavey JSX head with some original 5150 cabinets. The JSX is a 3-channel amp and is set to the overdrive channel with gain set about midway and I added some delay and reverb from Boss stomboxes to round out the tone. You are right about Marshall too - you could not go wrong with a Marshall amp!

  • @pollywoggle24

i think he is using a 5150 amp, at least i can see it in the background

  • awesome playing nice tone nailed it to the floor

  • @mulcymalcy thanks man

  • @mulcymalcy i think he's playing a 5150 amp

  • awesome

  • good job dude

  • However, so COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL !!!

Love this song from the "3", and got the same LP guitar .

Bloody blues-rock get me in !!!

  • That is fine Guitar Work , Keep up the good work thanks for the entertainment

  • damn good man!!, how did set up your tone for ZZ Top`s songs???

  • @estevan086 Thanks man! I played through a humbucker pickup(bridge) and use a combo of overdrive/delay/reverb for this one - with gain at about 5 on the amp but the recording has two separate guitar tones that I did not try to emulate here. Hope that helps!

  • Great !

1:40 > incredible right hand ! How is it possible ? I can't do it

  • F'n'eh! That's aweosme! Love that song!

  • perfect you are great :D

  • Great cover man!! I should do a cover of got me under pressure, when I'll have some spare time to record it!
