hey guys i am from Britain and i got my operation in dubai and it was a different kind of surgery and that was 2 weeks ago and i am going out running every day i can go on planes now, swim, i will be able to do deep sea diving and i will never need the operation again ps i had a huge cholesteatoma and the doctor went right up to my brain and i am fine so guys if you want anymore information just send me a message
@cal1999h Oh my goodness you must have felt terrible after the op. How is your taste? You did the right thing in getting it removed you know, How is your taste when you try food?
@ravenstar87 i had it too like a phew years back, i dont see what the big fuss is about. wasn't that bad, but then again everyones pain tolerance level is different.
I have had like 5 or something (im 14 so I cant reall remmeber all of them) But it has been gone for over a year, hopefully it is gone forever! Mine was near my facial nerve.
@thecardcollector96 Damn man! sorry to hear that. Surgery is a difficult thing to go through. As for the facial nerve, I take it you got away with it lol
I had surgery just before xmas for the removal of cholesteatoma. The disease ruined my taste nerve in the right ear and everything taste like metal now. :(
@fantomba Oh right. Well thankfully my taste has come back for food but for some reason licquid esp water still taste pretty bad. How was your experience if you dont mind mind my asking?
i just went to ENT specialist yesterday and he said its a possibility i could have a chloesteatoma. he never really explained it in laymans so i decided to google it, sounds like a blast. he had me on drops for a bit to get rid of my ear bleeding so much, and then he powdered it and said wait a few days for drops and then i get a cat scan or something in a week or so...who knows.
What is chance of recurring rate? I have check up in 3 days been like 4 years since had last surgery.

how long time did it take for it to regrow?
I operated mine 6-7 years ago. And I havent had any problems with it afterwards.

Yes the operation entails removing a large amount of the mastoid bone.
The bone is drilled away with a small burr. The eardrum if damaged is repaired with a grafted piece of tissue.
