Do you know why a majority of police favor the instating of this ban? Read it. The Assault Weapons ban does not apply to peace officers! The want a lower chance of getting killed, sure. But most of the things in the Assault Weapons ban are purely cosmetic. A 30-06 from a bolt action rifle would kill much easier than a shot from a 7.62x39 AK47 bullet.

I merely stating that burst fire isnt "full auto fire" tho it is treated as such under the laws. m-16 is a rifle just like my marlin 336. One is geared towards shooting 200 pound men the other toward 300 pound deer. Both cases seems like assaulting to me.

My AK has never killed or mamed anyone, the assault weapon ban didn't ban anything, you could still buy assault weapons just fine, you just couldn't import them. You could buy pre-ban assault weapons and regular capacity magazines that were already in the country.

(IANSA actively supports outright bans on Semi Auto, Pump action, lever action, and all handguns. They also actively support "Prove your 'geniune need'" licensing and registration. In countries with these measures they support a full ban.
