I wish that all choreographers should some research on the culture and heritage background of the place they are choreographing with. Though I see creative movements and decipline of the group all i can see are the same steps and choreographic formulas being presented at Dinagyang of Iloilo, Kadayawnan of Davao, sinulog of Cebu to name a few. I seen them all in all places from Bagiuo to Koronadal. Walang originality and sense of the region. hello!

You should actually be thankful because the MUNICIPALITY OF ABUYOG sent off a group that would represent BUYOGAN in your BONOK BONOK FESTIVAL. Imagine how far ABUYOG is from SURIGAO. If BUYOGAN only knew that they would rake foul comments from you guys then they couldn't have wasted their time in your local festival.! DAMNABLE.!

Had the LUMAD BASAKANON joined your BONOK BONOK festival and landed 2nd, 3rd, 4th place, you could have probably assumed that you are already the best among the rest. And besides, BUYOGAN couldn't have gone in your place had it not because of an earnest request of your government officials there.

Hi dojangpasaway, as far as I know Sinulog Festival will send off Lumad Basakanon, Municipality of Carmen and the winner og Pasigarbo sa Sugbo to represent Cebu,
then Buyogan Festival also will joined to represent the Province of Leyte, perhaps Sinanduloy Festival to represent Tangub City.

Even before the advent of buyogan in the late 90s, abuyognons have one beat, curious to be festive and eager to show the best for all to be happy... This is the true essence of buyogan... it is not only skin-deep.. It is a tradition, a way of life... a passion for hapiness and blessfulness.
not to mention the artistry and creativity... the eagerness and the well-rooted coorperation to create hapiness for all - is organic to us abuyognon. the inputs from choroegraphers further takes the buyogan into what it is now. External input is nothing f the people are not adept with festive spirit and tradition. All these made buyogan a wonderful experience to dancers and expectators alike.
And please be reminded that abuyognons are used to group activities of this kind. EVen as a kid fiesta day is field demonstration day where competing skuls in abuyog showcase array of festive performances that have wowed the audiences/visitors during fiesta. TAlaga rooted na sa taga abuyog ang group festivity where community and unity is a time honored tradition.
Let challenger root for the place in the next festivals. Give d judges' choice a reign for the moment; 4 until buyogan is defeated - they will reign supreme in d said category. I am proud to be an abuyognon. All d losers will and have all the time to challenge in god's given time... im from manila.. pumunta dn ako sa cebu para ma witness yung sinulog.. pumunta dn ako sa iloilo para sa dinagyang.. pero mas mpa wow talaga ako sa dinagyang.. compared to sinulog na boring. at ang mga tao doon masaya at mga events nila ang dami. =D

But unfortunately they are overpowered by the performance of Buyogan Festival. thats why some (not all) cebuanos got mad at theme. Hope it will enlighten to all ALikaraw dancers. thanks

for the FI category, must the sinulog beat be used? y does it seem like when i watched the buyogan sa aliwan '09 video, the music was like a sinulog beat? where has the original buyogan beat gone? will buyogan no longer use the original dance beat? :( why have the costume turned out to be so diffrent from the buyogan theme? flower bearers, fan bearers, friars, bees climbing on bamboo poles, why can they no longer be seen? influence of the choreographer na taga cebu? heritage, asa na ka?

I wish that all choreographers should some research on the culture and heritage background of the place they are choreographing with. Though I see creative movements and decipline of the group all i can see are the same steps and choreographic formulas being presented at Dinagyang of Iloilo, Kadayawnan of Davao, sinulog of Cebu to name a few. I seen them all in all places from Bagiuo to Koronadal. Walang originality and sense of the region. hello!

You should actually be thankful because the MUNICIPALITY OF ABUYOG sent off a group that would represent BUYOGAN in your BONOK BONOK FESTIVAL. Imagine how far ABUYOG is from SURIGAO. haitz.... yung mga nang lalait sa buyogan...as if i know na impress at na amaze din kayuh... watever to all of you.. kahit anu pa ang sabihin nyu sa festival na ito, kahit pa pareho nag costume.. the routine and the story is still UNIQUE.. no matter din ang choreographer.. kahit yung pinaka magaling na choreo if yung mga dancer chaka..ang habul dito kung panu nila na amaze ang audience at judges... its the performance... STILL BUYOGAN IS THE CROWD FAVORITE DURING THE SINULOG AT ALIWAN..

ang bobo nman nitong c hiztameen, choreography ang main factor ng festival don malaki ang percentage ng criteria. alam ko nangingialam ka lang dito dahil walang pumamansin sa dinagyang festival dahil boring kunti lang ang nanood compare sa Sinulog. At wag mong icompare ang Buyogan dahil dahil magkaiba ito, yang dinagyang mong hiphop at rock in roll na walng alm kundi takbo rito takbo ron? hay naku cge kalang tinikal, Pisot kang dako.

Hi dojangpasaway, as far as I know Sinulog Festival will send off Lumad Basakanon, Municipality of Carmen and the winner og Pasigarbo sa Sugbo to represent Cebu,
then Buyogan Festival also will joined to represent the Province of Leyte, perhaps Sinanduloy Festival to represent Tangub City.

not to mention the artistry and creativity... the eagerness and the well-rooted coorperation to create hapiness for all - is organic to us abuyognon. the inputs from choroegraphers further takes the buyogan into what it is now. External input is nothing f the people are not adept with festive spirit and tradition. All these made buyogan a wonderful experience to dancers and expectators alike.

EVen as a kid fiesta day is field demonstration day where competing skuls in abuyog showcase array of festive performances that have wowed the audiences/visitors during fiesta. TAlaga rooted na sa taga abuyog ang group festivity where community and unity is a time honored tradition.

kaya pala yung backdrop at yung props na flower, at saka yung concept parang siloy lang, kasi si yung choreographer nito ay ang choreographer din ng SILOY, tingnan nyo ang interpretation, the same as last year with SILOY, or even now, so yung SILOY costume lang ang nagin Sinulog Based nun,,, ay sus VICTOR CUENCO, ang dami mo palang raket, bong-gay ka!

Para sa imong kasayuran 2 time champion ang Buyogan sa Kasadyaan Festival(2007-2008) og 6th placer sa Aliwan 09. Og kaloy-an sa Ginoo Karong tui-ga mag Grandslam na cila sa Kasadyaan kung swertehon. Mao na ilang ticket nga Nag Champion sa Sinulog bisag wala magdahom. Crab mentality jud ka dapat proud ka kay taga Leyte ra man gihapon ta. Amaw jud kang dako..

im from manila.. pumunta dn ako sa cebu para ma witness yung sinulog.. pumunta dn ako sa iloilo para sa dinagyang.. pero mas mpa wow talaga ako sa dinagyang.. compared to sinulog na boring. at ang mga tao doon masaya at mga events nila ang dami. =D

hi ranie91. wag kang mag sinungaling. Lumad Basakanon prapaerd as early as first week of september last year to target Grandslam in Sinulog 2009. But unfortunately they are overpowered by the performance of Buyogan Festival. thats why some (not all) cebuanos got mad at theme. Hope it will enlighten to all ALikaraw dancers. thanks
