  • which ones pink?

  • Art-Rock!

  • Does anyone know what film or documentary the footage from when Billy Corgan is talking is taken from? I love when he speaks about Floyd ..really seems like he genuinely loves and respects the group..actually listened in detail to music...thanks for this post, great video

  • @MarkBird32 I'm guessing that the clip of Corgan was filmed for the purposes of this tribute. So it doesn't come from someplace else.

  • Fuckin' great band

  • 7:32 : there ll be never another pink floyd !! \,,/

  • @arnab1748 I'll never be enough of pink floyd

I think thats the one. Still, you're right.

  • It's quite funny reading the comments! I saw Floyd with Barrett and yes they had a light show like any San Francisco band.. Nothing original! They weren't very good live at that time compared to their records! Syd was the man and later on became a massive band much to my suprise! Great Music doesn't need dope to help it along!

  • Pink Floyd wrote atleast three masterpieces and had four (if.not five) musicians worthy of anyone's top 10 list for their specialty or instrument in the band. They revolutionized if not introduced lasers, lights, special effects, and props into a live show. They also had many of the best live performances ever and are possibly the best live band. They also revolutionized tne concept album and have some of the best songs ever.

  • there all good in there own right

  • Syd Barret was a beautiful man...

  • why does Bob Geldof look like Jimmy Page? There's something going on here.

  • 0:48 Pete I always loved you, and after this I love you more than ever!

  • Song at 4:00?

  • @epichedgehehog that would be Echoes off the Meddle album

  • this is fucking horrible

7:13 this guy is a moron

Pink Floyd deserves more than this

  • @noldorian86 relax bro

  • What is the song at 6:51

  • @epichedgehehog high hopes from the album the division bell

  • I fucking love them like nothing ever

  • what is the name of that song 7:06??????

  • @cybernautaconfundido That would be "On The Turning Away" from the album "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason" (1987)

  • This was 4/7 DSotM and then some other stuff. Come on. It is there best, but they should've talked about more. But DSotM is the best ever.

  • Pink Floyd is like all the greatest bands mixed into one before the beggining of time yet at the same time they have there own style that on one can even compete to.

  • "For me personally, Pink Floyd is the band that I reach for when I completely lost hope in music"

Couldn't have said it any better myself Billy, Especially in an era of Lady Gaga, Beiber, Drake and all that other mindless shit.

  • ALL I CAN SAY IS I HAVE MET DAVID GILMOUR!! I AM THE LUCKIEST FLOYD FAN ON THE PLANET!!

  • @mattaystig You really are!

  • What a horrible comedian

  • what song in 3:55?

  • @vertiz95 it's echoes from meddle (1971)

  • interviewer"Why has it all got to be so terribly loud?"

Roger Waters-"Thats the way we like it" roger waters is the best bassest ever

  • "There will never be another Pink Floyd!" Thankful my older sister had good taste in music back in 1980. I remember stealing "The Wall" from her room all the time and when she finally caught me she made me listen to DSOTM. Thirty something years later and their music still amazes me.

  • this bloke doesnt deserve to be on the same stage as FLOYD!

  • @alexTV Do you even know who this is ? I guess not!!

  • whats the song at the start?

  • @firsrupert Hard-Fi - "Hard to Beat"

  • Pink Floyd is a really good band.... Try to top my comment now....

  • Nobody will ever come close to touching these guys. Never.

  • I like EL&P,too.

show me my Hmannond organ in japan.

    my name is suzuki.

  • I saw the wall live some months ago tee hee :D

  • GILMOUR CAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Pink Floyd is for rock music what Mozart is for classical music.

Namely, beyond any form of rationnal expression but just feelings.

  • Taylor Hawkins and Rick Wakeman put it best.

    Both incredible musicians....

  • Tell me that's not Dermot o' Leary hosting, that guy gets where bloody water can't

  • can't believe i've never seen pink floyd in my life........have no idea why...........but thankfully i saw roger waters at madison square garden last october................one of the very best concerts i've ever seen

  • ...speechless...

  • 705 - What';s that? Is it off the Division Bell Album?

  • @JackyRowe

I can't tell. It sounds like Sorrow. But it's for sure from A Momentary Lapse of Reason.

  • @PinknessOfFloyd Ah yes, thanks!! that's the one album i haven't explored yet, you know

  • Who - Yes

    Pink - No!

  • 2:00 - high praise from the guy who created 'Tommy' for 'The Wall'

  • paige is ridiculous trash

  • What's on 7:12??

  • put it on now and it will stand up (and beat all the current' band's ass :P)

  • Wow. The Who and Pink Floyd. WIN

  • I would love to know what David said at 2:10

Lovely guitarists, both Syd, David and Pete. And Pink Floyd was one of the greatest band of the popular music era.

  • LEGENDS, LEGENDS I'm tellin' ya!

  • Did you know that David Gilmour was a chaffeur before Floyd was big and would drive George Harrison around London? From Patti Boyd's autobiography.

  • haha 0:43

  • Syd was indeed a lost genius. Roger and Dave are both great musicians and responsible for the band's tremendous success.

  • 1:14 who is this woman? vera lynn?!

  • @Chueqitoo She's was I think a 40's vaudiville singer or maybe an English singer that helped the moral for the British troops during WW2. Wikipedia her!

  • Right.!!

  • Does anyone know where I can get this short clip of the lightbeam going through the prisma at 5:12 ? To me its in essence all that PF stands for, one simple thought contains so much more which is invisible at first but with the right emotion unfolds a multitude of colors...please, anyone?

  • @airrudy You can visit the page "hokafloyd(dot)com/Gifs(dot)htm" to get plenty of cool PF´s animated gifs. There is not the clip you pointed though. Other way to get it, by downloading the video, edit with Windows Movie Maker or similar, end extract that part.

  • So it took until 2005 for one of the top 3 groups 'ever' to be inducted into the uk music hall of fame.!!! Someone somewhere has had there head right up their backside. Enough said!!!

  • @john1bundyboy Who are the top 3? The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and???

  • @MeToSpeak led zeppelin i guess

  • @MeToSpeak Everyone in the world knows it's Beatles, Floyd, Zeppelin.........after that there's just other bands, ya know.

  • @nat00ben06 true, though someone could list another band. Not that I would agree with that.

  • @7:32 Never Be Another Pink Floyd! :(

  • @3:24 In the begining God Created Pink Floyd

  • Comment removed

  • GODDAMN PETE SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!...jesus, listening to him is like listening to ben stein read war and peace....

  • why not the rock hall of fame

  • rick wakeman should have inducted them. actually Yes should be inducted into the hall of fame!!!!

  • david gilmore at 2.14 ha not to amused

  • all and above

  • Pink Floyd is a band like Queen, The Who and Zeppelin, pure genius.

  • @boppah sorry my friend but Pink Floyd is not like Queen, The Who and Zeppelin(all of them big groups..but Pink Floyd is the BEST BAND

  • @boppah Led Zeppelin, pure plagiarism.

  • I can think of few people more qualified to introduce Pink Floyd than Pete Townshend

  • Pink Floyd didn't win any talent or beauty contests to get to where they are. They did what you're supposed to do in music - work. After years of trying to find an identity after Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Syd's departure, they soon rose up and made their mark on music history.

Anyone else just LOVE Rick Wakeman?

  • @olias88 meeee

  • @olias88 - Ozzy Osbourne (in his book I Am Ozzy) said that Rick Wakeman was the only normal member of 'Yes'. I bet they must been quite strange if OZZY OSBOURNE considers them just that :P

  • @GeorgVanHalen haha maybe. I always thought Steve Howe and Jon were a little nutty. At the time, I would think Ozzy is referring to, was when Rick did session work on one of Sabbath's albums while he was being bored to death with the making of Topographic Oceans

  • !!!!!!My two favourite bands!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • imagine Pete Townshed talking about your band, id cry like a schoolgirl

  • blablablabla

  • what's not to like? oh yeah. Roger.

  • joł joł

  • It looks to me like 4 people are absolute retards.

  • I think I just cracked a testikel for laughing so hard. Townshend and Pink Floyd are the best!

  • this vid made me discover Pink Floyd's greatness.

  • "1:40 one of the greatest night of my lov.. LIFE !!" Freudian slip XD

  • yes he got the dance

  • peolpe today are being cheated out of music 5 in 1 minit of pink floyd music there is more talent and depth than in all the music that has bin over the last 10 years put togethur same on u music prdusers and promoters

  • I love Pete, but he kind of mailed this one in. Still fascinating....As always...

  • Love the acid dance Pete LOL !!!

  • the best band ever

pete townsend has always been a great fan of them, since he was a teenager

  • @overban888 hey. me too!! :)

  • I also like the comments from bob, the orb guy, and that dude from smashing pumpkins. they seem to really know the depths and amazement of pink floyd. they're not just saying empty comments. that guy from foo fighters shouldn't even be there.

  • 6:43 I feel the exact same way. Actually, they are the reason I keep on playing.

  • He really talks too much

  • 2:19 - 2:20, i dont think dave liked that comment lol

  • they don't have any of pink floyd's older stuff that is great,

  • hey its old pink

  • PINK FLOYD the alchemist of music.

  • 0:03 lol..Trowsers almost dropped the trophy.

  • Rick Wakeman: "...And the beggining God created Pink Floyd ..."

  • thank you

  • And the beggining God created Pink Floyd..........so good!!!

  • @roupher wakeman? ^^

  • Pete is really good at making speeches!

  • The best band ever.

  • "They've written STONKERS" wat a brilliant summation by sir bob.

  • Why does everybody play dumb and pretend not to know that it's because Roger W bloody fired the angelic Rick Wright that the others got so angry and then tossed him out of the band. It was awful on Roger's part but a great relief they got together again before it was too late. It would have been too awfully sad. Love them all so.

  • WHATS THE TITLE OF THE SONG IN 3:55?

  • Instrumental part of "Echoes" from Meddle album.

This version however is from Live at Pompeii, my favorite Pink Floyd performance ever. :)

  • @jamiejieiuchima mine too. excellent performance.

  • Echoes

It is a track on an album called Meddle

That footage is from the movie Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii

  • @epanastaths echoes. but live at pompei version.

  • thnx a lot man :)

  • "echoes" live at pompei

  • Comfortably Numb is arguably one of the BEST solos from any artist!David gilmour is excellent!End of story

  • My favorite guitar part in Comfortably Numb is the coda ... or outro, but my favorite David Gilmour solo is Hey You because ... and while I'm sure there is some technical guitar terminology for what David does with his guitar, I just refer to it as "changing moods".

  • And let me add. David Gilmour is the greatest guitar soloist that's ever played guitar...end of story.

  • @CrazyDiamond1968 yes very bluesy and melodic but hendrix still kills em all

  • @kalen486 cept Page he's a Wizard

  • @CrazyDiamond1968 I know your comment was over a year ago but, HEAR HEAR! Good sir. David Gilmour IS the greatest soloist.

  • The greatest band in the world, now and forever. Second only to the Beatles.

  • the question is when is are they going to make a pink floyd rockband? the who rockband is coming out this year...but when will the floyd be made?

  • pink floyds music wouldnt suit rock band. imagine intersteller overdrive, or echoes, or atom heart mother where drums or guitar ccut in and out. it would be to challenging to make a game that would be so boring

  • I stand corrected. OK. It's a sad commentary on the way people treat eachother. Just like they said, "Money, it's a CRIME!"

  • For such a musical icon, Pete sure sounds clumsy. lol David looks a little uncomfortable during his monologue. Pink Floyd, they were great musicians who all happened to be in the right place at the right time. Aside from the music they hated each other. They were capable of making great music together but it ended right there. They weren't really friends, just kind of people who happened to be working at the same job.

  • thats crap thay all went to school together mate childhood friends try and no the facts

  • @ericineffible he isn't uncomfortable, he comfortably numb

  • @ericineffible that is true, it was about 'the wall' when everyone started hating eachother

  • I MET ROGER :):):):) In Lisbon :) I have apicture with him in my room :):) The bigget genious in the world :)

  • Glimour doesn't look very impressed.

  • @billheartyface he can't be impressed.

  • pink floyd are the greatest

  • They knew how to do everything right. Especially with a synthesizer and a guitar. RIP Rick

  • Is it me or does Pete Townshend have absolutely no verbal filter?

  • Pete inducted The Stones into the RnR Hall of Fame in '88. His speech began 'Keith Richards once said I think too much. I don't think that's actually the case. The problem is I talk too much without thinking." lol Pete Townshend will say what's on his mind. Here it's awkward for PF cuz 1) the 'wall' between Roger and the band never really came down; 2) Pete remembering Syd Barrett like that was the right thing to do but put PF w/ painful memories. Kids today have no idea who SB was.

  • As far the LA 'The Wall' story, it's well known inside British rock n roll circles. 1980-81 was the depth of PT's substance abuse problems and he was a total wreck. His infatuation with Theresa Russell is also famous because he made a public spectacle of his crash and burn. Like all musicians, he made it into a song 'Theresa' which The Who changed to 'Athena' for 'It's Hard'. All the PF members know the story well and he remained friends with all, especially Gilmour.

  • crossed legs speech!!

  • pete's psychedelic dance is hilarious!!!!!!

  • Hope this helps >=)

  • Video Tracklist: 3:17 Pow R Toc H (Piper At The Gates of Dawn) 3:28 Arnold Layne (Single - Relics Album) 3:55 Echoes Part I - (Live At Pompeii) (Gilmour at his ABSOLUTE prime) 4:19 Astronomy Domine (Piper At The Gates of Dawn) 4:43 Time (Dark Side) 5:05 Great Gig In The Sky (Dark Side) 5:29 Money (Dark Side) 5:44 Breathe (Live at Live 8) 6:47 High Hopes (Divison Bell) 7:04 On the Turning Away (A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour 1987) 7:23 Another Brick In The Wall (Part II) - The Wall
  • much obliged, kind sir!

  • Its "On the turning away" from "A momentary Lapse"

  • i'm embarrassed to ask this, but what's the song at 7:07 ........i can't place it

  • what's the song at 3:18, at 3:57 and at 4:20?

  • I know 3:57 is Echoes

  • I'm not entirely sure about 3:18, but I think it might be Pow R. Toc H from debut album Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

3:57 is Echoes, taken from the album Meddle - the video is from the Live at Pompeii film.

4:20 is Astonomy Domine, also from Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Great album, by the way.

  • "its good pot smoking music" lmfao i love taylor hawkins

  • has nostalgican nissan of london don't cry to night

  • suprisingly interesting

  • this is high hopes

  • what the name of the song at 6:48

  • From one legend to some other's. Fitting that someone of Pete's stature should present this award to one of the best rock bands of all time.

  • haha pete's psychedelic dance is so funny, looks exactly like a 60's hippie!!!!!!
