how does your fu manchu lionfish do with the clowns? Im thinking of starting an Indo-Pacific reef tank, and was wondering since larger lions go for little fish too.
@scrom29 Unfortunately the fu manchu recently died of starvation due to a stupid mistake I made. Otherwise, the fish was the best I've ever owned. He never bothered any other tank mates and had a great personality. I wouldn't put any other lion in a reef tank because lion fish no matter which species will eat anything living that is big enough to fit in their mouth. In the Fu Manchu's case, he will not likely get big enough to eat anything other than a ghost shrimp or krill.
@clav2 Thanks. Nothing special done for the coralline algae. I just used 2 or 3 rocks that were covered in it to start the tank from the beginning and it spread on its own.
Was wondering if that tank was meant for reptiles since its a breeder? and if so most i have seen recommend only filling like 30% of the way with water. Did you reseal or support it more in any way . I happen to have a 40 breeder tank that was an exo tank i believe and came with a screen top that slides on , i'd like to convert it to a saltwater and down grade my 125g so i can affford the lighting
@my2clownfishrule Not sure if it was "meant" for aquarium use or not, but I've done nothing to reinforce the tank in any way, and in fact know several people who have 40 breeder reef tanks. Never had a problem! I can see your cause for concern tho, as the tank doesn't have a middle support across the top.
@my2clownfishrule All Glass makes a Marine rated version of a 40 breeder as well. They are used quite often in fish breeding...which is where the name came from. But you are right...the reptile versions are not made with high strength silicone bonding agents and will burst seams if you fill them all the way.
@babybabygirll Yep you are right-but they don't ALWAYS pick on corals. That goes for all angel fish-some individual fish do pick on/eat coral, others don't touch them. It sucks that juv emp. died because he never ever bothered corals, and the bi color angel I have in there now totally bugs all the coral :/
@ilikespam9002 Not sure which one you're referring to, but the mushroom is a ricordea, the green furry one is green star polyp, and the pink tentacly one is anthelia (a weed like coral that grows like crazy).
@bucholtz1983 Yes, I will do a video of the sump setup. Give me a few days though-I was planning on doing an update video for the tank. Keep an eye out I will include something about the sump in there.
@jetstream01 Awesome! I'm looking forward to it. I plan to convert my fresh water 40 gallon breeder tank, into a saltwater setup as well. I'm a total beginner though.
@rostibluh You could probably keep the lionfish in a 20 long, as they don't get much bigger than 3-4 inches. However, it would be better to keep him in at least a 40. Keep in mind when you're shopping for one that you ask what he eats-mine only eats LIVE ghost shrimp. That's it. Nothing else. Which is why it's kinda a pain in the ass to have him but he's my favorite fish so he gets the extra effort.
i have a question! why is that your tanks looks clean no red algae or brown? my tanks ground is some spots red and some time glass is brown, help any one what can i do , i have a 40 gallon tank
@NEY310LA How long has your tank been set up? Trust me, this tank went through its fair paces of having algae and diatoms. However, they have never been as severe as what most people see because I have only ever used 100% RODI water. NEVER tap water. If you would ask me one single piece of advice to give to new reefers, I would say to use only RODI water. It eliminates a lot of the problems you would normally face.
Beautiful tank and stock! where is your Goby. LOL maria recognized herself. hahaha. Steve porter is on crack!! emperer angel is beautiful. your blue and yellow fish reminds me of my ram. Keep up the good work Bro!
@lswishe Thanks for the comments! The goby jumped out :( lol he decided to commit suicide because I was trying to trap him and put him in the fowlr. You notice Maria has made like 1 inch of new tube since I moved her there? She is hecca growing its sweet.

@jetstream01can you tell what stand you're using or table and where you got it. I'm having trouble finding stands that fit this tanks dimensions.
