Jamesmac30 - Oh, I've heard it before. In 1948! My first job as a cinema projectionist's assistant started the week the film, Up In Arms was billed along with Bambi.
Quality entertainment in those days with great singers singing great songs and Now I Know is one of my top favourites.
They don't write 'em like that any more........they can't!!
It really is lovely to hear it again and see Dinah.
Thanks - I have only heard The Andrews Sisters version - youtube is just amazing for finding great music that's years old but you have never heard before
Dinah's first big hit, from 1940. Sold 500,000 copies in a couple of weeks, which was a big deal back then. Her mentor Eddie Cantor, host of the radio show DInah was featured on, bought the rights to this song for her, and had Dinah sing it during the commercial break of his biggest competitor, knowing that those restless channel switchers would stop to hear Dinah finish the song and hopefully stay for the rest of the broadcast.
