There is some cases where if the trans hasn't been maintained, the dirt in the trans is holding the components together and the flush will wipeout the trans. But if that's the case how much longer did that trans have to live anyway? Not long, a few thousand miles? Also no tech, if they're smart, will sell you the service in that case. And if you walk in requesting that service with a high mileage vehicle the advisor should worn you of the danger.
OK, maybe there is different types of trans flush machines out there but the machine my shop uses does not hurt your transmission. It doesn't blow out seals. it doesn't hurt the internal components. The machine itself is simply a storage tank, in our case holds 16 qts of fluid. The trans itself is the pump that pushes the fluid out into one side of the tank and new fluid is pushed out of the tank and back to the transmission. All the fluid gets changed out including the torque converter.
THAT MUTHER FUCKER IN THIS VIDEO IS A "JACK ASS NO GOOD MUTHER FUCKIN WHITE NIGGER PRICK SON OF A BITCH" AND KNOWS "GAWD DAMN" WELL THAT A COMPLETE FLUSH FUCK UP YOUR TRANSMISSION SEALS. THIS IS GUY IS "FUCKIN CON BULL SHITTER" ! ! !

THAT SHIT FUCKS UP YOUR TRANSMISSION AND THOSE "MUTHER FUCKIN MECHANICS" KNOW IT.
THEN THEM MUTHER FUCKERS WANT TO REBUILD YOUR TRANSMISSION OR PUT IN A NEW ONE, THAT'S HOW THEM FUCKIN NIGGERS ASS SCAMMING MECHANICS MAKE MONEY RIPPING PEOPLE OFF.
FUCK THIS WHITE TRASH FUCKIN LOSER MECHANIC MUTHER FUCKIN NIGGER BITCH !
for the tranny flush i heard that is bad for ur car if ur car exceed 100k+ since ur tranny is old and wont be able to hold against the pressure of the flushing machine. So u should only do the flush if ur car is relatively new after that just do 3X3. Is this true?
but with the tranny flush you still dont get all the oil out theres still oil left in the torque converter so either way it will get mix with the old oil cars are complicated
I have an '09 Vibe 1.8L 5spd MT which has had oil changes every 3 months since I bought it new.
The oil is usually Shell 5W-20 dino which is what GM dealerships that I take it to use. I have a service contract for free oil changes otherwise I'd do them myself.
The filler cap shows 5W or 0W-20 to be used. I've been driving around in 10-20 deg below freezing and the dipstick had a small bit of varnish, is that wax?
I don't know I just don't buy into flushing fluids. I change my oil every 3k and that's about it. Got 170k on my old Bronco and she's running better than ever. I check all the fluids once a week and check the tire pressure at the same time. I did change my anti-freeze last year I just remembered when I put a new thermostat in and a couple new radiator hoses (all of them). I am changing the transmission fluid the next warm day. Maybe I do buy into it.
How would you go about doing your own coolant flush on 2005 jeep crd diesel liberty? Just cleaned my heater core out had brown balls in it. Got heater working good now, time to do through cleaning of system. Then need to add proper HOAT coolant. There is no radiator cap only recovery tank and radiator drain, plus plug on top radiator you turn to 4 oclock position to remove.
What good is flush if these yonkers do not use proper fluids. Toyota specs there own autotranny fluids USE theres only, not universal crap. Mopar modern coolants spec HOAT only that would be either MOPAR or Zerex g-05 only! Peak universal is shait do not use.
I don't understand why people guess these things. I'm telling you right now. If you want a million mile car, don't go by looks of the fluid. G05/Universal anti-freeze looks brand new at 150k but that sure as hell don't mean it not eating your engine away. Transmission still looks clean at your do mileage? Good, flush the shit to keep it that way. I know the good and bad customers. The good ones have 500k miles on there car and still purring. They are the ones who go by the book.
First of all, you don't go by a guessing intervals (30k-80k). Go by the owners manual(manufactures scheduled maintenance intervals) when it doubt! Second, flushing the transmission thru the dipstick is the most effective way to flush the transmission. Using the cooling lines is what mixes all the new fluid in with the old. The dipstick machine does it with a rhythm. I do agree there are bad shops that use bad methods. I sure as hell don't. Stick to the manual if you think your provider is lying.
@CptGitRdun mechanics give themselves a bad name long before this guy ever posted this vid... Most people wouldn't trust a mechanic as far as can be thrown. Going to a shop is like knowingly visiting a professional pickpocket. That's why I either do things myself or pay one of my a friend or relative who are professional mechanics to do the work
I take off the tranny cooler line once a year which is about 25,000 miles & drain it out that way. I usually get about 6 qts out. Yes i know there is 4 more quarts in the TQ converter but It seems to run better with 60% of the fluid out. When you change your oil you NEVER get 100% of the oil out. Some new fluid always mix with a small amount of old fluid. As long as fluids arent cooked of sludged it will be fine without a flush. Most mfrs advide against flushing.
being truthfull and honest retains good customer base but you have to pay what people are worth and cannot get by with paying less for services rendered. cut rate mechanics are not worth the trouble.
Toyotas and Hondas stick with dealer for fluids the yota syn transmission fluid could be difference bettween working and not working. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise! Same with coolants there is no universal when it comes to some cars. Newer chrysler products call out HOAT fluid either Mopar or Xerex g-05 will work. Do not let Autozone say you can use green Peak universal! Toyota has there own Red and Pink coolants stick with those!
NEVER TOUCH THE TRANNY UNLESS ITS BROKEN ASK ANY TRANS SHOP REPAIRMAN NOT THE GUY AT THE DESK I HAVE DELT WITH THEM, A TRANNY GETS USE TO THE FLUID ADDING NEW FLUID WILL MAKE SHIT BREAK
u dont need a machine to do a trans flush. all u do is unhook the cooler lines put them in a bucked and run the car while you add 8 liters, turn the car off once air comes out of the tube. add fluid and its flushed. no expencive machine or anything like that. pan will also be removed and filter replaced while its empty.
True never let autozone tell you there fluids will work including coolants, autotranny fluids. Toyotas factory fill many trannys with no service needed for life. Many still dump out 4 quarts and refill. You must must use Toyotas special fluid for your application! Spend the money for correct fluid and do not look back. Toyota has 2 different coolants one pink one red use correct one. Jeeps or chryslers use special coolants Xerex g-05 or MOPAR only, they do have aftermarket syn tranny fluid.
they did not put that the first time. So that was cool aftetr they were done he told me my cruiser control was broken and another part of my car needs replacement soon or my whole car will stop running. I need to change the steering fluid. How do I do all these fluids ?what should i ask?
I paid 990 just for plugs mounts for my Honda 1996 lx Accord. I did it thinking it was the best. What is weird they did a whole inspection wrote everything I needed and then I come home my water started to leak really bad. I took it back diffrent dude in the front office got irritated and said he thought I was blaming his company for this it happens by itself. I never had the problem before. Then He did it for free to replace the water hose he said supposibly it was deteriated. They did not pu
Finally a mechanic that tells the truth!!! Love the video dud nice work. Oh and umm I have a 1975 Mercedes Benz 450SE and it had 96,000 original miles on it and the person i got it from did nothing for it i had to rip it apart and clean it all by hand. had no money to get cleaners at all. So what he is saying is the truth I drained my trans and only 5 qt came out I took it apart even more and found 7 more qt's in it and now my engine the book said it takes 10qt's and well it really takes 17 X3
I only go to places with the wynn total flush. I have seen the machine in action for myself and that is the best way to do it.and it is a but load cheaper then trans work
im no certified mechanic but i know my around a car. i work for oil can henry(like jiffy lube) i think flushes are bullshit. theres a reason they make you sign wavers if the transmission has not been service within 60k. pan downs are safest. even if your mixing old/new fluid.
The important thing about a trans fluid change is to change the filter. Sure 5 qts. is better than a complete drainage. But slam in some Lucas trans fix, and this compensates for the complete drainage. Why spend so much on something that can be destroyed in seconds. What you whould be selling is electric vehicles. Time to change the fluid on my computer.
Thanks for this great video. I wish you were closer to where I live - I'd bring my vehicle to you in a heart beat. Like you said, you want to take your vehicle to someone you trust, and I trust you.
...is there any point to using the fuel injector cleaner additives (the one I'm currently using is by STP in the silver bottle).
How often should I have my transmission fuel flushed and replaced? I check it regularly, it looks clean, but I've heard I can wait till 100k miles. I currently have 50k miles on my Ford Focus.
What about oil changes - how often should they be done. The standard 5k miles?
@JonBoy24649 fuel injector cleaner works if you have a problem, otherwise they just up the octane of your gas(not by much) and do nothing, your trans fluid doesnt need touched untill your owners manual says so unless there is something its doing that doesnt seem right. oil change is every 3K imo, some synthetics can go for 5k, other than that, fluid levels are the big part, make sure nothing is leaking. not much can go wrong anymore without the car yelling at you for it or you noticing yourself.
I have a 2007 Ford Focus. I am the original owner and I plan on driving this vehicle into the ground. That said, I want this vehicle to last me a LONG time (at least another 10 years).
Can you tell me what services I should have done, and how often in order to keep my vehicle running in tip top shape, for as long as possible? You mention in this video that Fuel Injectors should be professionally cleaned every 15k to 30k miles. If I'm having this done...
Newer toyotas come with synthetic transmission fluid from the factory. It plainly says on the transmission cap that there is no need to ever change the fluid under normal driving circumstances. Why do you say every 30K miles then? Sounds like bs. I've never heard of having to change transmission fluid unless there's some kind of problem with the tranny.
QUESTION: I have a 94 F350 that the transmission tore up in, busted planetarys worn clutches, burned up pump. I replaced the transmission with a NEW one and then i realized I did not clean out/flush the cooler or lines and now my brand new transmission fluid mixed with my shitty fluid. should I have the system flushed?
guy at my local transmision shop tells me he doesnt recomend ever changin the tranny fluid as long as its pink it that true i took my 02 impala with states every 100,000 i think down and he sais to never change it it can do more harm than good especially on higher miliage cars
so you are saying the car manufactures are wrong by saying you should NOT replace any fluids (except oil) ? sure their engineers are wrong no?It is not like they got all the research facilities.... On older cars(-1995) I would agree to change maybe once. all my cars have had over 200k and were running perfect and booklet called not to change fluids....so I didnt.
Maybe because bs like this the USA consumes so much damned oil
this full of shit iv seen to many vechicle's runnning around with 200-300,000 miles and never went buy this load of crap....sounds like to me he feeds his customers lies
your a joke.. i woke at valvoline and we have machines for all our services. so get your shit strait. your the ass that would do a drain and fill on a tranny not a multi million dollar company. think before you talk
I stumbled upon this video and I greatly appreciate the info. I need to do a transmission fluid change soon and it's great to know the difference between the services.
IDK n e thing bout transmissions. 2003 honda element.manuel. 130k miles on it. never had a trany fluid change. wanst driven hard ever. Should i flush it or will that make it start to slip due to crud geting knocked loose? PLEASE HELP ME I NEED IT CHANGED BUT am seriously scared i dont know much about transmissions. please
@DtoWnSux1 Manual transmissions cannot be flushed only drained and filled. I personally would never be worried about changing the fluid in a manual transmission at any mileage. Nothing to "knock loose". All parts are bearings, gears or shafts just like a rear differential. Just make sure they use the correct fluid not a universal or substitute. Dealer quality or better. The only choice for Honda is OEM fluid or Amsoil fluid as far as I know, both are synthetic.
@Armornone Sorry I sometimes give too much information and could wrap it up a little quicker. The problem is I never know how much automotive knowledge the person viewing the video will have so I try to make it as easy to follow as possible.
Thanks for video, it was very informational. Having very little knowledge about cars, I disagree with Armornone. I'm glad you talked about all the other things that may have been common knowledge to other people.
@profleetautorepair and i respect that very much, Keep giving as much info as possible. Like you said, you never know who knows what about basic car info!
bought my car used.5 speed 2003 ex honda element with 130k miles. previous owner never changed tranny fluid. i heard its bad to change it or flush it. is that true?because after the crud is flushed out, then your trans might start to slip or break.what should i do?
@JoeCnNd so do you think just a trans. fluid change would be ok? not a flush just a change. keep in mind its got 130k miles on it without the transfluid ever being changed
I have a Suzuki Granvitara 2000 with 124,000 miles, I never changed the transmission oil and filter. It is working perfectly, the fluid is red brown color. Do you think is Ok to change tho oil or is very late and risky to do it now? Thank You very much.
I a 1996 Chevy C-3500 that i has a transmission seal leak that i'll be replacing soon, dropping the tranny. I got it at 230K for $1500 and the auto tran slips just a little bit. should I change the fluid, tran filter, drop the pan and clean all the muck in the pan?, etc??? Being the tranny will have to be removed. I will also do a oil change on it, simple. and have the injectors clean. PLEASE reply to this ASAP, I am doing the work in 2 weeks time. THX.
Well my opinion on the flush is not very good. I had mine done in a 2002 dodge intrepid at 90000 and about 5,000 miles later I was replacing the clutch pack.I don't know much about the internal working of a automatic tranny that was kind of suspect.500.00 later.I have about 35000 miles on it since then. Since the filter and all the fluid was changed is it time to take it back in for service? Also my 95 dodge dakota is pinging even with 91 octane does it need a fuel service?

@suckitgood101 If you live a colder climate check to make sure freeze temp is at -30 degrees. 3 reasons why it is good to flush every 30k-60k miles. First it's a proven fact if coolant is flushed at this interval 99% chance no coolant related failures will ever occur. 2nd as coolant passes through cooling system it picks up particles that travel through and tear up gaskets and metal parts they come in contact with and conducts electricity through engine block, becomes too acidic and eats up metal
Think about it if you were going to buy a 60,000 - 100,000 mile vehicle which would you rather buy, the one that has been properly maintained with all fluids and filters replaced at least once or the one that has never had any work / repairs done to it?
Ever heard of "that" vehicle which is always in the shop for repairs once it hit 100k miles.
@kennjohnsen One problem, filters eventually get clogged, in a transmission it means low fluid pressure. In a motor, the oil filter has a by-pass valve, it's primary function is to prevent the filter exploding if the oil pressure gets too high(ie, cold start when the oils thicker)and guess what, this same valve also allows dirty oil to by-pass the filter when it's clogged, hence the need for an oil and filter change on motors. Only a complete fool disregards the mainetance schedule for a car!!
That's was not was I meant, there are filters there are claimed to clean the oil, so the oil does not need to be changed.
My mechanic said that I should not change the oil on my automatic transmission, I wanted it changed at 50,000 miles because the service book said so, but ho said no, because he once changed the oil on a transmission, and it broke down ? What do you think of the necessarity of changing the transmission oil ?
@profleetautorepair what tranny takes 10-17 qs? dude your are on drugs...! most trannys dont take more than 6.....! what kinda trannys are you doing ? a plane ? a jet? a UFO ?
Lots of vehicles take 10-17 quarts for a Total Fill. For example, my 93 Camaro Z/28 takes 11.2 quarts to do a complete fill. But it only takes 5 quarts to do a service change. What this means is there's +/- 5 quarts when I pull the pan and filter off, but there is another 6 quarts in the torque converter and throughout the rest of the tranny.
so what you are saying pretty much is all fluids have to be changed every 30k miles? trans/cooling and fuel injection? is that the proper mileage interval for a toyota ?
@suckitgood101 Trans if possible 30-60k, p/s 60k or ck condition, coolant 30-60k, fuel service 30k, brake fluid 60k or check condition, differentials replace with synthetic asap to prevent initial wear and tear or every 60k.
Keep in mind the reason why fluids are changed is to prevent wear on metallic parts. Once the wear is there no point in changing fluids. 100k is too late parts are more than 50% worn out, why bother. The first 60-90k miles determines the next 60-90k miles!
@profleetautorepair you mustve been educated by the ppl trying to rip ppl off.... if parts are worn, no matter how much, its still helpful to their life to change fluids. and your coolant can last way longer than you have stated, and diff fluid almost never has to be changed unless ur offroading, and if you emidiatly change diff fluid to synthetic if it is not you void your warrenty. manufacturers put the fluid in it because thats the fluid that it was designed to have, damn character limits.
@profleetautorepair if you put a different weight oil in a car than i came with, there is a high chance of things not working right because it wasnt designed for it, you put a synthetic in a non original synthetic place and there is a chance if will do something it shouldnt. usually synthetics work well. but it doesnt mean they always will, and fluids last a hell of alot longer than you are saying they will, oil hardly ever wears out, it just gets dirty, hence why you change it, same with others
@profleetautorepair LOL! are you fuckin stupid? Once the wear is there theres no point in changin fluids? Thats like sayin "OH WELL my car has a few dings on it... might as well quit washin it". REALLY? Ya the parts get worn out but theres different rates. How hard of a life have these components had? How often was the oil changes? According to u theres no point... lol idiot. Weve got trucks with 500,000 km... with the original trans, diffs, etc in them. Why? Maintanence.
@CptGitRdun Did you actually watch the video? He didn't say anything at all about "once the wear is there there's no point in changing fluids". I suggest you watch the video more closely. If you get the same message again, double check your comprehension skills because your statement is grossly inaccurate.
@profleetautorepair Component wear will always be there... right from the word go. All the oil does is clean, cool, and lubricate. You change ur oil no matter HOW WORN OUT it may be. The biggest killers are oil contamination whether its internal or external and thermal breakdown of the oil. If ur on top of that ur GOOD. But there is always other factors like abuse, manufacturer defects, etc. Wat u need to do is quit givin advice to people cause u give mechanics a horrible name.
@profleetautorepair So Should I get a BG flush on a car with 120K miles? I changed tranny fluid at around 60K and then again at 90K. I just dont want it messing up my tranny. I have never flushed , but I have just dropped pan and changed filter.
@profleetautorepair I have a 2008 Civic with only 19,160 miles, I never had transmission old change, at the dealership they said I should change it at the next visit. My question is should I wait till I hit 60,000 miles or do it sometime before that?
for djpashka1 's comment 8 months ago,,thts not all you have to do,,you gotta take the torque converter out wich requires dropping the tranny if u do what your talking about because the fluid in the torque converter would stay
There is no warranty on transmission fluid.Lubegard claims it changes the dexron into the recomended fluid for Chryslers which is true. Some GM and Fords have a reusable pan gasket for the transmission pan which you forgot to mention.A transmission flush with the worthless machine is a huge waste of money.
This is probably the best video regarding vehicle fluids on YouTube... Most of the other guys are just Idiots, don't know what they're talking about, and don't understand whats REALLY going on. This guy knows his stuff.
@sexyboy717 I do not know the answer to that question but when i flushed my transmission i turned the vehicle on, ran it through the gears and a lot more nasty fluid came out. I did this each of 3 times over 200 mile period until it was clean. It did not make any grinding noises because the gears cannot engage without the fluid. Might be bad, i don't know, but i did not leave it running on for long.
I have a question about cleaning the cooling system. Is there a cheapo way using household degreaser and/or sludge remover like Ajax to safely remove gunk buildup without compromising seals, hoses and internal workings?
Transmission flush machines are transmission destroyers.I drop the pan and change the fluid and filter checking the fluid level.I have never seen problems after a fluid and filter change. Most Ford and GM transmissions use a reusable pan gasket. You can get an additive called Lubegard which changes Dextron into Chrysler's recomended fluid ATF+4.You give me including my father a bad name on fluid and filter changes.
@wafrederick - Using pour in additives with transmission fluids or engine oils is not a wise idea. It's tantamount to playing chemist. If I may, there is no transmission fluid called, "Dextron". It's Dexron. If a transmission needs Chrysler rated transmission fluid, then that is what should be used. Transmissions typically cost over $2,000 to have rebuilt and using a pour in additive can be a very risky proposition, in my experienced opinion.
@HiTechOilCo I know a transmission shop that does this to Chryslers, pour in Lubegard and no comebacks using dextron. This shop even make more money off of flushes, the repair is more than the flush. The lines are above the filter full of dirt and crud.Where does the dirt and crud go during the flush?Dumped in the valve body! This transmission shop removes, disassembles and throughly cleans the valve body completely.
@wafrederick - Pour in transmission fluid additives will immediately void the warranty on the transmission fluid. There is no, "t", in Dexron. Using the proper rated fluid is the correct way to go.
u do not need a machine to properly flush a transmisson. drain with drop plug ,fill, torque over (go threw gears) , drain again, fill and repet process about three or four times and your good.......do it at home and save money people
@oscartheiguana - You are correct, a machine isn't needed to flush an automatic transmission. The transmission cooling lines can be used to flush the transmission and then we simply refill the transmission as the old fluid is pumped out by the transmission. This way, we ware sure to get 100% new fluid in the transmission and we don't have to do the same job three to four time, along with all the associated transmission fluid that is wasted.
Dude why pay if you can do a complete flush at home. Its simple. Just disconnect transmission cooling line to drain the old stuff while adding new transmission fluid Using your fancy machine is not any better or safer. Machine can push stuff around in the transmission which is not good so using the method above is the best and safest way to do a complete flush. Most shops dont use the machine and do it manually using the cooling line to flush and backfill via dipstick.
First this video is not directed towards someone who knows or wants to try to flush/ drain and fill their own trans fluid. Secondly we are one of the few shops who have a machine that does not "push" the fluid through the transmission. Our machine safely allows the vehicle trans pump to pull clean fluid into the trans at the correct flow and speed without the risk of running the trans low or out of fluid which is very unsafe.
The vehicle pump then pushes the old fluid into a containment system that can be disposed of without the huge mess of fluid everywhere. The problem with your method is you are allowing the trans to run low on fluid while vehicle is running and adding either too much or not enough through the dipstick. Oh yeah and by the way most new vehicles don't have a dipstick anymore so good luck with that one!!
@djpashka1 Not to mention the same point made by the author many times throughout the video that there is oil that is "stuck" in some compartments of the engine, so when you just drain it you do not get all of it out. if you watched the video or knew anything about engines you would know this. To flush ATF replace the fluid, 100 miles later replace again, do this 3 times and you save yourself a lot of money. Flushing by pouring straight into the engine is like not even pouring it INTO the engine

All the fluid gets changed out including the torque converter.

yes a full flush, esp on an older car ie over 100k miles is bad for transmission..
mohtashim78 2 weeks ago
for the tranny flush i heard that is bad for ur car if ur car exceed 100k+ since ur tranny is old and wont be able to hold against the pressure of the flushing machine. So u should only do the flush if ur car is relatively new after that just do 3X3. Is this true?

but with the tranny flush you still dont get all the oil out theres still oil left in the torque converter so either way it will get mix with the old oil cars are complicated

The only thing I flush is the toilet. Lol.

Toyota has there own Red and Pink coolants stick with those!

u dont need a machine to do a trans flush. all u do is unhook the cooler lines put them in a bucked and run the car while you add 8 liters, turn the car off once air comes out of the tube. add fluid and its flushed. no expencive machine or anything like that. pan will also be removed and filter replaced while its empty.
1990GearHead 3 months ago
True never let autozone tell you there fluids will work including coolants, autotranny fluids. Toyotas factory fill many trannys with no service needed for life. Many still dump out 4 quarts and refill. You must must use Toyotas special fluid for your application! Spend the money for correct fluid and do not look back. Toyota has 2 different coolants one pink one red use correct one. Jeeps or chryslers use special coolants Xerex g-05 or MOPAR only, they do have aftermarket syn tranny fluid.

So what he is saying is the truth I drained my trans and only 5 qt came out I took it apart even more and found 7 more qt's in it and now my engine the book said it takes 10qt's and well it really takes 17 X3

christophermjr89 4 months ago
The important thing about a trans fluid change is to change the filter. Sure 5 qts. is better than a complete drainage. But slam in some Lucas trans fix, and this compensates for the complete drainage. Why spend so much on something that can be destroyed in seconds. What you whould be selling is electric vehicles. Time to change the fluid on my computer.

...is there any point to using the fuel injector cleaner additives (the one I'm currently using is by STP in the silver bottle).
How often should I have my transmission fuel flushed and replaced? I check it regularly, it looks clean, but I've heard I can wait till 100k miles. I currently have 50k miles on my Ford Focus.
What about oil changes - how often should they be done. The standard 5k miles?
What other things should be done regularly.
Thank you!
JonBoy24649 4 months ago

JonBoy24649 4 months ago
Newer toyotas come with synthetic transmission fluid from the factory. It plainly says on the transmission cap that there is no need to ever change the fluid under normal driving circumstances. Why do you say every 30K miles then? Sounds like bs. I've never heard of having to change transmission fluid unless there's some kind of problem with the tranny.

Since the filter and all the fluid was changed is it time to take it back in for service? Also my 95 dodge dakota is pinging even with 91 octane does it need a fuel service?

suckitgood101 1 year ago
@suckitgood101 Depends on the car most cars never need to be replaced but mostly cars will need a tranny flush every 30,000
ljavierg18 1 year ago
@suckitgood101 If you live a colder climate check to make sure freeze temp is at -30 degrees. 3 reasons why it is good to flush every 30k-60k miles. First it's a proven fact if coolant is flushed at this interval 99% chance no coolant related failures will ever occur. 2nd as coolant passes through cooling system it picks up particles that travel through and tear up gaskets and metal parts they come in contact with and conducts electricity through engine block, becomes too acidic and eats up metal
profleetautorepair 5 months ago
Think about it if you were going to buy a 60,000 - 100,000 mile vehicle which would you rather buy, the one that has been properly maintained with all fluids and filters replaced at least once or the one that has never had any work / repairs done to it?
Ever heard of "that" vehicle which is always in the shop for repairs once it hit 100k miles.
profleetautorepair 5 months ago
@profleetautorepair
Ever heard of the filters, with which you never have to change the oil.
kennjohnsen 3 months ago
@kennjohnsen One problem, filters eventually get clogged, in a transmission it means low fluid pressure. In a motor, the oil filter has a by-pass valve, it's primary function is to prevent the filter exploding if the oil pressure gets too high(ie, cold start when the oils thicker)and guess what, this same valve also allows dirty oil to by-pass the filter when it's clogged, hence the need for an oil and filter change on motors. Only a complete fool disregards the mainetance schedule for a car!!
gooseknack 3 months ago
@gooseknack

@profleetautorepair what tranny takes 10-17 qs? dude your are on drugs...! most trannys dont take more than 6.....! what kinda trannys are you doing ? a plane ? a jet? a UFO ?
starkidd103 3 months ago
@starkidd103
Lots of vehicles take 10-17 quarts for a Total Fill. For example, my 93 Camaro Z/28 takes 11.2 quarts to do a complete fill. But it only takes 5 quarts to do a service change. What this means is there's +/- 5 quarts when I pull the pan and filter off, but there is another 6 quarts in the torque converter and throughout the rest of the tranny.

what about other fulds like power steering and brake fuilds is there a particular sercive inteval mileage wise? are there any fluids to worry abt?
suckitgood101 1 year ago
so what you are saying pretty much is all fluids have to be changed every 30k miles? trans/cooling and fuel injection? is that the proper mileage interval for a toyota ?
suckitgood101 1 year ago
@suckitgood101 Trans if possible 30-60k, p/s 60k or ck condition, coolant 30-60k, fuel service 30k, brake fluid 60k or check condition, differentials replace with synthetic asap to prevent initial wear and tear or every 60k.
Keep in mind the reason why fluids are changed is to prevent wear on metallic parts. Once the wear is there no point in changing fluids. 100k is too late parts are more than 50% worn out, why bother. The first 60-90k miles determines the next 60-90k miles!
profleetautorepair 5 months ago 4
@profleetautorepair you mustve been educated by the ppl trying to rip ppl off.... if parts are worn, no matter how much, its still helpful to their life to change fluids. and your coolant can last way longer than you have stated, and diff fluid almost never has to be changed unless ur offroading, and if you emidiatly change diff fluid to synthetic if it is not you void your warrenty. manufacturers put the fluid in it because thats the fluid that it was designed to have, damn character limits.
xmodvin12 4 months ago
@profleetautorepair if you put a different weight oil in a car than i came with, there is a high chance of things not working right because it wasnt designed for it, you put a synthetic in a non original synthetic place and there is a chance if will do something it shouldnt. usually synthetics work well. but it doesnt mean they always will, and fluids last a hell of alot longer than you are saying they will, oil hardly ever wears out, it just gets dirty, hence why you change it, same with others
xmodvin12 4 months ago
@profleetautorepair LOL! are you fuckin stupid? Once the wear is there theres no point in changin fluids? Thats like sayin "OH WELL my car has a few dings on it... might as well quit washin it". REALLY? Ya the parts get worn out but theres different rates. How hard of a life have these components had? How often was the oil changes? According to u theres no point... lol idiot. Weve got trucks with 500,000 km... with the original trans, diffs, etc in them. Why? Maintanence.
CptGitRdun 2 months ago 4
@CptGitRdun Did you actually watch the video? He didn't say anything at all about "once the wear is there there's no point in changing fluids". I suggest you watch the video more closely. mosipd 1 week ago 3

EricsiPhone 1 year ago 2
@sexyboy717 I do not know the answer to that question but when i flushed my transmission i turned the vehicle on, ran it through the gears and a lot more nasty fluid came out. I did this each of 3 times over 200 mile period until it was clean. It did not make any grinding noises because the gears cannot engage without the fluid. Might be bad, i don't know, but i did not leave it running on for long.

Transmission flush machines are transmission destroyers.I drop the pan and change the fluid and filter checking the fluid level.I have never seen problems after a fluid and filter change. Most Ford and GM transmissions use a reusable pan gasket. You can get an additive called Lubegard which changes Dextron into Chrysler's recomended fluid ATF+4.You give me including my father a bad name on fluid and filter changes.
wafrederick 1 year ago
@wafrederick - Using pour in additives with transmission fluids or engine oils is not a wise idea. It's tantamount to playing chemist. If I may, there is no transmission fluid called, "Dextron". It's Dexron. If a transmission needs Chrysler rated transmission fluid, then that is what should be used. Transmissions typically cost over $2,000 to have rebuilt and using a pour in additive can be a very risky proposition, in my experienced opinion.
HiTechOilCo 1 year ago 4
@HiTechOilCo I know a transmission shop that does this to Chryslers, pour in Lubegard and no comebacks using dextron. This shop even make more money off of flushes, the repair is more than the flush. The lines are above the filter full of dirt and crud.Where does the dirt and crud go during the flush?Dumped in the valve body! This transmission shop removes, disassembles and throughly cleans the valve body completely.
wafrederick 1 year ago
@wafrederick - Pour in transmission fluid additives will immediately void the warranty on the transmission fluid. There is no, "t", in Dexron. Using the proper rated fluid is the correct way to go.

u do not need a machine to properly flush a transmisson. drain with drop plug ,fill, torque over (go threw gears) , drain again, fill and repet process about three or four times and your good.......do it at home and save money people
oscartheiguana 1 year ago
@oscartheiguana Yes. But i was told to run the vehicle 100 miles between each flush as you described.
offyam 1 year ago

Most shops dont use the machine and do it manually using the cooling line to flush and backfill via dipstick.
djpashka1 1 year ago
First this video is not directed towards someone who knows or wants to try to flush/ drain and fill their own trans fluid. Secondly we are one of the few shops who have a machine that does not "push" the fluid through the transmission. Our machine safely allows the vehicle trans pump to pull clean fluid into the trans at the correct flow and speed without the risk of running the trans low or out of fluid which is very unsafe.
profleetautorepair 1 year ago 3
The vehicle pump then pushes the old fluid into a containment system that can be disposed of without the huge mess of fluid everywhere. The problem with your method is you are allowing the trans to run low on fluid while vehicle is running and adding either too much or not enough through the dipstick. Oh yeah and by the way most new vehicles don't have a dipstick anymore so good luck with that one!!
profleetautorepair 1 year ago 8
@profleetautorepair Actually its the stupid sealed unit transmissions that don't have the dipsticks. Most still have dipsticks...
