I'm so addicted to this beautiful freedance! Does any know which arrangement of the Beatles this is? Who is the composer/arranger? I would love to buy it on iTunes. Thank you!.
Beautiful! They are my favorite ice-dance pair. Very pure as the commentator says. No weird moves done for the sake of inserting a move to impress the judges. Every move falls seamlessly into place and fit to the music.
Brilliant techique, but rather boring program. It is difficult to imagine that, this is the same couple, who will makes that FANTASTIC program 4 years later, winning the Gold in Albertville with one of the best program ever.
This performance we see this pair on the verge of greatness. I'll never forget watching them that night 22 years ago, it still touches me just as deeply as it did then-simply magical!!
Not my favourite program from them, but it's sweet and beautifully danced from them. I think one of the advantages they have from a technical perspective is that they are physically well matched (no huge height or size differentiation.)
Anyway, very enjoyable to watch - they are so clean and precise and dance wonderfully well.
Thank you for posting. I'm a Brit so TD my ultimate fave ice dancers of all time! (lol)
BUT I ALWAYS loved this couple. Their lines, soft knees, matching free legs, edge-work, finessing of every move, such a joy. Technically very evenly matched.
The judges like to vote for more serious, dramatic things because that is seen as the more "intelligent" thing to do. B&B had a very dramatic, frenetic, ultra (almost ridiculously) serious program. So the judges voted for it, because this one from K&P was too lighthearted and sweet to be deemed a proper contender. But K&P's skating is better...and this program has held up over time better. B&B's seems like a caricature looking at it with a modern eye. K&P's 2nd place was a grave mistake.
Absolutely...Ice Dancing @ this Olympics and from 1985 to 1988 was a " wait in line and wait your turn" event. Ridiculous.
This team had it all over B&B w/their slashing, frenetic , repetitive moves-oh ! they'd do the same move over and over again. B&B were tedious to watch.
Torvill and Dean had one of the most memorable program in Skating History. However.. I wouldn't view them the best ice-dancers ever to exsist in skating. I think in and out of ice-dancing we've watched some great skating that's provided great passion, entertainment, and techinical ability on the ice.
I remember how delighted so many people were to see Russians skating so beautifully to the music of the Beatles. They should have won the gold not the other Russian team.
I agree! Bestimionova and Bukin were SO frenetic - and she had that stumble remember? - this pair should've had the Gold. They certainly had earned it with superb skating for at least a decade by 1992. They're wonderful!
Actually the program begins with the song 'Yesterday,'-albeit very briefly-then 'I Want to Hold Your Hand: ' Let It Be:' Get Back' and ends w/Ob-La-Di,Ob-La-Da.'
Very enchanting program so smooth yet technically difficult. They were the best.
It BEGINS with Yesterday-the most covered song in history, then I Want to hold your hand, Let It Be; Get Back; and ends with Ob-la-di Ob la da from the show Life Goes On.
Wow. Just wow. This program is so beautiful. I was smiling the whole time, and it made me so happy to the point that there were tears in my eyes. Wow. It was really lovely. And the fact that it was to the Beatles made it all the more better. I can't really express how great this is!
A mixture of pure entertainment, popular music, captivating artistry and impeccable skating! This was a wonderful performance.
I was in awe with Bestimianova and Bukin's imposing and theatrical skating but deep down inside wanted this couple to win the gold. Marina always seemed so fascinating and beautiful to me.
I loved this performance, and thought they deserved the Gold Medal....and it was so great to finally after 19 years, get to see this again. Thanks for posting it
This program should definitely have beaten that of their teamates, the other Russians; it is as wonderful as I remember it from almost 20 years ago. Thanks so much for posting it.
After teaching in the same rink (we have four ice surfaces)I finally met Sergei last week. He's a very nice man. I haven't met Marina yet, but saw her skating the other day as they are performing in Russia in the near future.
I totally agree with jdance. I love the skaters and gymnasts of the 80s and early 90s..Klimova-Ponomarenko were the best. This is not my favorite program, but still. they are so poised and beautiful.

@EightballRus I am SO envious!!
They're the only ice dance couple to win Bronze (Sarajevo '84) Silver (Calgary '88) & Gold (Albertville '92) in successive Olympics. I mean... WOW!

This performance made me an instant fan. I remained their fan as long as they were skating. They were the best ice dance team ever, IMO.
