@montana2063 I agree , an artist is selfish and play only for himself. Because when you play music , you feel your emotions , and you can't feel it if you think about the others.
Emminently more satisfying interpretation and performance IMO than that of either Horowitz or Lang Lang! Bravo. Clean, articulate, and unified in spirit and form.
This rendition makes my balls tingle and gives me a big ol boner, I am inclined to believe that Rachmaninoff is using my nether-regions as a portal from the next realm, his tormented spirit living on - through my cock
Wonderful! Great performance; great performer. Wouldn't be drab if everyone spoke in the same monotone; likewise if everyone played in the same manner, expression and speed. I always ask myself ; what would the composer say of the performance?
This guy actually performs Chopin better than Richter. And This Sergei over here.. it is just so clear school example which I like the best. No bullshitting around, perfect rendition!
@gfdhdful@gfdhdful You're an idiot. This is the most selfish thing a man could ever do (from the composer and the pianist's perspective); that's why it's so beautiful. It is not proper and furthermore it is a negation of your own soul to learn this kinda of piece for the sake of others (ie posting about it on YouTube).
Is this Nikolai Lugansky? Saw him playing in Paris and he is absolutely brilliant and his playing technique is very elegant and not too fast for once !!!
comment?lc=KJUyrKUMjgMcgVFEpGts4NJZjcYh6kG6wPbGyWbOy2w i commented and there's 34 thumbs up, but it's not at the top, why? weird.. help me be on the top, i love lugansky!
Excellent! Wonderful clarity and superb nuances especially in the inner voices. I think Rachmaninoff would have been impressed... after all his friend Horowitz, who was a truly marvelous pianist, makes a blurred and indistinct effort at the same piece. Bravo, Maestro!
@cjwarcher you joke; "horowitz makes a blurred and indistinct effort at the same piece" r u nuts? this is like a student play compared to horowitz version
When will camera-men learn that I (hopefully we?) want to see the HANDS during the whole piece - the second part was especially well done, and they showed only his face...gah...
well i think thats a question of taste, but I like that rendtion of Valentina Lisitsa a bit better, though this is beautiful as well. He plays some notes a bit slower.
No matter how many different performances I hear I always come to the same opinion at the end. RUSSIAN PIANO SCHOOL IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the best performance of this piece. I practice it for several years now, still can not play it so well, and probably never will. Someone wrote below that he has some wrong notes???? Are you sure, perhaps we heard so many performances with wrong notes, that can not distinct the clean performance anymore. Anyway, txs to the uploader!!!
Outstanding, saw yow at the Usher Hall a couple of weeks, you were amazing. Truly brilliant demonstration of supreme technique. In spite of quite a lot of wrong notes...
@alperloos For some reason i always find applause the biggest anti-climax of a piece.. Has nothing to do with lack of respect from my side... Just that.. The sound of people clapping their hands is aweful compared to the sound of music...
@aslan2100 No I haven't actually received it but to be clear; even Vladimir Horowitz hated the applause noise and Maria Joao Pires doesn't allow people clapping in between pieces! Only at the beginning/end of the concert. I guess i'm not alone here :).
@Firestoner46 Really? I like the applause? Whenever I'm listening to digital recordings it just doesn't feel complete unless I hear clapping at the end. It almost feels as if it ends to abruptly.
Excellent! Am learning this piece gradually and really enjoy Lugansky's straightforward, expressive but "unaffected" (i.e., not overly emotive), powerful and accurate rendition. Saw him play Rach 3rd Concerto live 2 years ago and it was tremendous.
He is one of the best interpretators of Rachmaninoff music.I respect what he is doing, and what regards to interpretation of such pianists as Lisitsa or Lang Lang,I really think that this versions are awful, they both don't understand Rachmaninoff's music. They play themselves not the music
Lugansky has got to be one of the most musical pianists I have ever studied. His melodies are ALWAYS there, and his interpretation of the score is very consistent. Incredible.
i think this is the best... Lisitsa has a good playing but she goes too fast: the diction is "alla marcia" that is to say "as a march" and Lugansky is linked to that!
