This game was actually really good considering that it was for the NES. You could actually aim your shots with some precision on those crappy plastic d-pads. Though me and my siblings scrapped that for filling the penalty box with as many opposing players as possible..

USSR vs Canada is the true classic matchup, then USA vs Canada, then Sweden vs Czechoslovakia.

With two players, this game is crazy fun, trust me.

I remember playing this game about 20yrs ago. Loved it! I remember once i beat the game by some ungodly score in the neighborhood of 125-0. The score got so high it just started posting letters... I took a few pics of the screen to mail to Nintendo but they never really came out. Oh well!

Outdated? Unplayable? Man, this game is still brilliant. No stupid refs calling blatantly wrong penalties, no worrying whether Player X's center ice saucer pass reception rating is too low, no crappy "EA Trax." Just sheer fun, especially with two players. It blows modern hockey games away in terms of fun factor. Is it perfect? Hell no, not even close. But its flaws just add to its charm. The real question here shouldn't be Ice Hockey vs NHL 08 anyway- it should be Ice Hockey vs Blades of Steel.

i think i remember a glich where once your in front of the goal with puck, just move up and down before shooting and the goalie will move out of the way.
