I dont know too much myself because i havent read the book yet. Though i want to.
But from what i understand he was one of the few good ones. thats why they say you better hope its him. He served some kind of king or god and castrated himself because of it. They explain a bit more if you type his name in wiki. It will bring up a list of the books characters. But even then its just best to get the book.
Taglio is a character of "Orphan's Tales" (I think!) a series of books Sooj is a fan of.
This is a fantastic song, must say I prefer the version on Mythcreants. I spent the whole of Summer '10 (first Summer of being Pagan, might I add) in a hammock on holiday listening to the album. Bloody fantastic memory.
@LunarPaganPrincess I have no idea, however the some of the lyrics do remind me of stories of the huldra, a Norwegian fay, often dressed in green who would sing, dance and whisk people away so it might have something to do with a type of fay similar to that legend.
@Venefica82 I was wrong, Gaselli is a type of vampire like creature from the fantasy book Orphans's Tale, they do have huldra like qualities though as they dress in green and lure people away with their dances and then drink their blood and perhaps eat them as well. They have gazelle like hooves. Tanglio is a member of this fantasy race but as I have not read the books I do not know more about him than that. Now I want to read these books.
@Venefica82 Actually the gaselli sound much closer to the baobhan sith of Scottish lore. Vampiric fey who dress in green, and are sometimes credited with having hooves.
@Venefica82 The Baoban Sith are a predatory group of fairies who haunt the Scottish highlands. They're known to prey particularly on shepherds or travellers, who they lure into dance and then feed on, sometimes with vampiric fangs, sometimes by using their sharp nails to open a vein. Stories vary, but the Baoban Sith are always credited with wearing green, and they sometimes are said to have deer hooves instead of human feet.
@yankee999 - actually the Gaselli from Catherynne M. Valentes' Orphan's Tales: In the Cities of Coin and Spice physiologically resemble fauns and satyrs - though their frolicking romps indeed give way to even less moral appetites. So yes, based on legends and myths - but in a true American fashion charmingly mixed in a big melting pot.
I love S.J tucker So much. Her songs remind me of the peace, the beauty of nature, and the times when everything was full of belief and magic. I love her music.

Taglio in specific is a Gaselli who does not eat humans, that's why you want to pray you are dancing with Taglio.
