  • Whats this machine like in poor backfill, i.e. bricks, rocks and stones? Cheers

  • @MOLEEXCAVATING The machine has a very clean cut in most man made & natural stratas. This is due to the use of a 1m square skid plate with a narrow slot in it that allows the trenching wheel to pass up through to deliver the spoil into the conveyor "throat" area. Also left & right hand side guards collect any loose spoil brought up to the surface, by catching it & recycling it back into the wheels cutting path.

  • @PaulWBeal Ok but what about going through hardcore, like under a runway? How would it cope with that?

  • @MOLEEXCAVATING The machine is capable of cutting concrete, tarmac & even concrete with rebar (provided rebar is held firmly by the concrete & not loose in older decaying concrete, as this can wrap around the digging wheel shaft & bring the machine to a halt). Progress in concrete roadways 350 - 450mm in depth is approximately 50m per hour & the machine is best used with a vario transmission tractor to get best performance.

  • Are you using Lytag in the drains. We have a Chelton wheel for the pitches.

  • We mainly use 10mm pea shingle on top of the pipe up to about 50-75mm from the top & finish of with sand or rootzone up to the surface when draining sports pitches.

  • Shame you have to dig a hole with a digger to get it going....hydraulic crumber be a better idea!

  • We have trialed with a hydraulic crumber & found in rocky conditions that the linkage is torn away, allowing the whole crumber shoe to be torn backwards & destroyed. A solid mounted crumber is best to prevent the risk of this.

  • Brilliant piece of machinery
