As an asperger today I love the feeling of communicating with others and just getting out there. It's easier to understand life now. Whenever I come across other autistic folks since I've walked their road I'll try to help either with these videos or some other way. Hey good luck where ever you are today with this lol
Truly amazing! Words could never express the gratitude I feel towards you both for the gift you've given my daughter. She loves signing time, wether it be at home or in the van just listening to the songs. Yes, my child can hear but she's gained a skill her dad always wanted her to have long before she was born. You've truly become a part of our family. Thank you Rachel and Leah!
I love this YouTube video. I just wish that the entire Deaf community could come together valuing access to ASL, a complete language, from birth, and respecting decisions to use assistive technology too. There is no need to limit access to language. Learning ASL does not inhibit speech. Beautiful. Congratulations!
I know sign language, and once you know some words, you can put them into sentences. I love asl, and I would also like to learn sign language in different countries.
I believe I have watched all the Signing Time videos (with my 4 and 21 month old) and I only saw one instance of Leah with the cochlear implant and that was the "Set the Table" song in the Time to Eat DVD. Usually in ST videos, Leah has her hair down, but in this one song, her hair was up and then when she turns around, the CI is evident. After seeing that it then made sense to me how Leah won the spelling bee contest her father posted on You Tube.
Well said Rachel, speech is a SKILL. Sign language is a LANGUAGE that young babies need cognitive and social growth. I'm grateful that Rachel had the insight to use sign language early in Leah's life and then and then let her Leah make the choice to get a Cochlear Implant. Now Leah is blingual and bicultural and has the choice to go between the deaf and hearing worlds because she is proficient in both sign and speech.
our duaghter (who can hear just fine) loves all the signing time videos and we (her parents) learned by watching to videos to sign & communicate with her before she was able to use her words to do so.
I really appreciate you two! Thank you for being such positive people.

Would be great if 2 languages were used. Was not even captioned for those who use ASL. Not accessible, interesting

@76JTW Coulda sworn it's been captioned for at least a couple months (though I could be wrong). It is captioned now, though.
